Chapter 11: No Going Back Now
Without all the snow, the sun was shining brightly in the sky.
The medics had arrived and took both boys to the hospital.
While at the hospital, they were both put in separate beds besides each other after getting treatment.
Midoriya opened his mouth to speak, but closed it soon after.
The white walls of the room and the lack of decoration made it seem as if they were in a mental health center.
Shinji closed his eyes, he thought about his relationship with Izuku and how it might change after telling him his story.
Just as he'd said that he was lying to Izuku about his identity, the medical team arrived and took them away.
Now that they were both stabilized, Shinji looked at Midoriya who was looking at the ceiling.
He wanted to speak, but no words left his mouth.
"Yuuji, so that name is fake, what's your real name?"
He kept looking at the ceiling, it calmed his racing mind.
"Well, how do I tell you? I guess I'll start by saying that my real name is Shinji."
"Why have you been hiding it all this time?"
"I guess I was scared, I've been living alone all this time and was scared you would think differently of me if I told you about my situation."
"What situation?"
"Midoriya, I'm homeless, I've been living on the street for a little over a full year now."
"Why didn't you tell me! I could have helped you, aren't we friends?"
Midoriya screamed, but not out of anger.
"It's so frustrating, you don't have to hold anything back, if you are in trouble then simply ask for help."
Shinji felt like a traitor, he had lied to his friend and now he was suffering the consequences.
He still felt a little hesitant to talk about his quirk, but he knew he'd have to in the future.
Midoriya breathed in the air and exhaled slowly, his shoulders slumping in the process.
"Do you mind if I ask you what happened with your parents?"
"I'm sorry, I will tell you the rest of the story once we get out of the hospital, it's personal."
With that being said, an hour passed before the doctor along with Midoriya's mom came into the room.
"Miss Inko, here's your son."
Her eyes bulged out of their sockets and she started trembling.
"My little angel, what happened to you!?"
She ran to the arms of her son and hugged him deeply.
Looking at this scene, Shinji thought, 'reminds me of my sister. Wonder how she's doing now that dad is gone.'
He was brought back to reality when he heard his friend talking.
"Mom, this is my friend that I talked to you about."
"Oh, nice to meet you," she said.
"Nice to meet you too, sorry for what happened."
The doctor interrupted the conversation as he brought up a concerning topic.
"Yuuji, as you don't have a family, we will have to report this to a child guidance center so they can put you in an orphanage."
Shinji frowned deeply.
He didn't want to go to an orphanage, but thinking about it some more, it wasn't actually that bad.
"If you are lucky then we can have someone foster you in their home. What do you think?"
"I don't really care."
Seeing that the conversation was over, the doctor excused himself out of the room.
"Yuuji, you don't have a family?!" Midoriya's mom asked.
"Yeah, it's a long story. I don't really feel very comfortable talking about it."
Shinji stood upright in the bed, he started moving his fingers in a repetitive motion and looked away.
"I can take you in my home if you would like."
His fingers stopped moving, Shinji quickly looked at her.
Shinji could see Midoriya in his peripheral vision as shocked as he was.
He wanted to say yes, but the word kept refusing to come out of his mouth.
Midoriya was begging him with his eyes for him to accept the deal.
Shinji finally swallowed his pride and said, "yes."
"Alright, give me a second." Inko exited the room and searched for the doctor.
"So, we're going to be brothers now?" Shinji asked.
"I don't mind it, really, you must've had your reasons for not telling me. Just do it when you feel comfortable."
"Thanks."
As the short conversation came to an end, he wondered what the future had in store for him.
Being Midoriya's brother would definitely be a thing to remember.

Hours later...
The moon shined its faint light into the city of Musutafu.
Inko headed towards her house in the car with Midoriya and Shinji.
She'd talked with the doctor about the situation and was given custody of him temporarily.
Though she would have to do some paperwork in the future to finalize the deal.
Shinji looked out the window and thought, 'It's time. I will reveal my secrets tonight.'
