Metaverse of Mechas

Chapter 5: : Shadow of the Oblivion Core

📘 Chapter 5

🌆 Scene 1: Morning Routine… Then Panic

Zake was late for school.

Again.

"Zake! Come on!" Zui shouted from the kitchen. "Your toast is gonna fossilize."

"Don't care!" he yelled back, stuffing a prototype drone into his backpack. "I'm almost done with Project SkyCat! Neko 2.0 will fly this time!"

Zui rolled her eyes. "You'll get detention again."

"Worth it."

As he rushed to the table, he noticed Zui already in uniform—neat as always. But something was off.

"Hey... where's your badge?" he asked.

Zui blinked. "Huh. It was on the counter earlier—"

DING-DONG.

A knock. Then another.

Zui frowned. "That's weird… No one delivers here this early."

She opened the door.

And froze.

A familiar face greeted her.

"Zui. Long time no see," said Kyra Elen, her childhood friend and now a rising star in the tech military academy. But her expression wasn't warm. Her eyes glowed faintly red.

Zake stepped forward. "Wait... you were overseas."

Kyra smiled. "I was. But I came back for Zui."

And in one swift move, everything went dark.

🧠 Scene 2: The Codes in the Stars

Later that day, Zake sat stunned. His sister was missing. No call. No trace. The only clue?

Her school ID badge, left in the shape of a spiral—a symbol associated with the ancient Krono cults.

Frustrated, Zake turned to the sky.

He'd been obsessed with a pattern he found in their father's old star maps—strange binary-coded constellations.

Using his drone and Neko's scanning array, he decoded a section of the map.

Z-12... Z-34... Initiate Protocol: Twilight Memory

"To my children… if you've found this, then the invasion has begun again. And they are not who you think they are."

Zake stared.

Their father knew something.

Something huge.

🏛️ Scene 3: Headquarters of the Oblivion Core

Far across the globe, suspended high above the stratosphere in a cloaked floating fortress…

A woman draped in robes of shifting metal approached a throne of shifting tendrils. Mechanical creatures buzzed around her.

Her name: Mother Viess — Grand Priestess of the Oblivion Core, a techno-religious organization that believed the machine singularity should destroy organic life.

"She's been taken," Viess said.

A hologram of Zui appeared, unconscious, floating in a containment pod.

"Zui Kai… born of the same blood as the anomaly. Her brain has the pattern. Begin Krono extraction."

A hooded figure beside her bowed. His voice was harsh.

"What of Zeron Kai?"

Viess smiled.

"We will deal with him… when he becomes a threat."

The camera zoomed out to reveal thousands of similar pods—children and teens held in stasis.

The harvest had already begun.

🛠️ Scene 4: Zeron's Fracture

Zeron stared at the cracked core chip Blaze had salvaged from the Phantom Mech.

Rin stood beside him in the lab.

"You ever wonder why you survived all those years without a trace of Krono?" she asked.

Zeron nodded. "All the time."

She held up the chip. "Because your body wasn't empty. It was sealed. Someone locked away your Krono... and left instructions on how to awaken it."

Zeron leaned in. Inside the chip, glowing faintly:

"Find the Astral Key."

"Trust only those who do not glow."

It made no sense.

But it was a start.

🔥 Scene 5: Blaze and the Beast

Meanwhile, Blaze Rourke was chasing a Krono-mutated beast through the desert ruins of Zone 7. It was a field mission—but also a distraction. He was angry.

The Phantom Mech still haunted him.

The thing had taken three of his ribs, nearly broke his leg—and laughed while doing it.

But now he had a target: the Krono Reaver, a cyber-beast created from failed robot experiments and alien DNA.

With a roar, Blaze charged forward, firing twin arm cannons.

"Come on, you freak! Let's dance!"

The battle raged until the sky turned orange.

And in the end, Blaze didn't just kill the beast—he harvested its memory core.

It showed a secret lab under the capital city.

Something was growing down there.

Something that looked… almost human.

🌌 Final Scene: The Brother Awakens

Zake, now alone in the house, found a sealed panel beneath their mother's old chest.

Inside was a dormant mini-mech shaped like a beetle.

It hummed as he approached.

"DNA match detected," it said in a soft voice. "Welcome… Zake Kai."

It latched onto his wrist and transformed into a Krono adapter.

A surge of power ran through him—yellow energy pulsing.

He screamed in shock—but didn't let go.

The Kai family legacy was awakening.

One by one.
