Chapter 119 Good Employee_1
When a war reaches a stalemate, how many soldiers should be stationed at the fortress?
Count Theodore didn't specify. But in truth, he already had.
At the start of the war, everyone was strong and energetic; both offense and defense followed standard procedures, with everyone trying to avoid mistakes. However, as the war entered its middle phase and reached a stalemate, troop losses at the front would necessitate reinforcements from the rear.
By then, it was uncertain whether Nuta City could even maintain a force of 300 Griffons at the fortress. Even if they could reinforce it, the numbers would be extremely limited.
This heavy responsibility naturally fell on Yan Xing's shoulders.
In Yan Xing's initial plans, the Eternal Domain intended to expand northward toward the Thunderous Swamp during the war. This strategy concerned the core interests of the Eternal Domain and was absolutely non-negotiable.
Now, the west also seemed to be becoming unsafe, and Yan Xing could not stand by idly. The Eternal Domain had to face the possibility of fighting a war on two fronts.
This pressure was so great that Yan Xing couldn't sleep after leaving Count Theodore's place, so he went alone to the Magic Tower in the Lord's Mansion.
The Magic Fountain quietly sprayed, illuminating the first floor of the Magic Tower with a dazzling, colorful radiance. Yan Xing sat by the reading stand next to the Magic Fountain.
In the quiet room, books were being pulled from the shelves on the wall by invisible hands. Then, their pages turned automatically.
If someone else had come in at that moment, they would undoubtedly find it incredibly eerie.
Yan Xing sat there, observing the design model of the turbocharged jet engine in his consciousness space.
The biggest factor limiting the rapid development of the Eternal Domain is population, he thought. Without sufficient labor, resources can't be converted into products. Now, facing war, the Eternal Domain must strengthen its military. Increasing the army will further strain the already scarce labor pool. This will severely constrain the Eternal Domain's development.
Relying on natural population growth for a noticeable improvement will take several years of accumulation. The Eternal Domain doesn't have that much time to wait.
And today, Chui Chui's design for the turbocharged jet engine had sparked an entirely new idea in Yan Xing.
The rapid development of human society in the real world began with the widespread application of the steam engine. Machines replacing human labor multiplied productivity. The Industrial Revolution enabled a few individuals to accomplish the work of dozens, even hundreds, of people. Production costs were reduced, and efficiency increased.
If the Eternal Domain wants to achieve rapid territorial construction with its limited population, it can no longer rely on a single farmer with a shovel. Nor can they simply follow the Lord System's progression step-by-step... They have to get ahead of the system.
The turbocharged jet engine revealed to me the potential power source for the Eternal Domain's industrialization. However, the current version of the turbocharged jet engine is still just a magical framework, with no physical version that ordinary people, those without Magic Power, could use.
To widely apply the turbocharged jet engine, it has to be manufacturable using existing methods. A usable physical engine could replace the engines in existing machinery, freeing them from fuel constraints.
"Chui Chui, is it possible to build the turbocharged jet engine you designed?"
At that moment, Chui Chui was rapidly browsing through the magic books on the shelf.
Upon hearing Yan Xing's inquiry, she immediately replied, "Reporting to Master! Most components of the turbocharged jet engine can be custom-ordered from the real world. Only the power unit requires Alchemy to convert magic energy into kinetic energy. If the user lacks Magic Power, Rare Alchemical Resources would be needed as a Magic Energy Source to fuel the conversion process."
Chui Chui's reply was almost exactly what he expected.
The industrial level of the real world is sufficient to produce most of the components for this engine. I can have Chui Chui break down the engine blueprints, then order the parts and assemble it myself.
The only major problem is the power source.
However, since the Golden Oak Chamber of Commerce's road construction team uses Heavy Tamping Golems, it's clear this world possesses Alchemy Technology capable of converting Magic Power into motive force. It just isn't yet applicable on a large scale.
"Chui Chui…" Yan Xing said, "do these magic books contain any information on Alchemy Technology for converting magic energy into kinetic energy?"
Chui Chui replied, "Yes, but I would still prefer to have a physical object to study."
Yan Xing thought of the Golden Oak Chamber of Commerce's Heavy Tamping Golems again.
I'll see them tomorrow; I wonder if I can buy one from them to dismantle. That question will only have an answer tomorrow.
Yan Xing tasked Chui Chui with redesigning the turbocharged jet engines and optimizing their hardware modules. He stipulated that these engines must be installable in vehicles to be procured in the future.
Chui Chui added another process to her task queue.
Then, Yan Xing began to contemplate the Eternal Domain's military armaments.
Due to population limitations, the Eternal Domain lacks the foundation to mass-produce soldiers and thus has to pursue a strategy of elite troops. The goal is for each soldier to be as effective as a hero. This aligns with my initial approach to building the army: one soldier capable of fighting ten of the same rank.
Chui Chui's arrival showed me the possibility of creating an information-age army.
For informatization, a digital network is essential, with servers providing data support to every unit within the system. Building a digital network requires signal base stations. I could use drones as temporary platforms to establish an aerial network. Chui Chui should be capable of handling the information processing server requirements. The digital network wouldn't need to cover too wide an area; a few hundred kilometers would suffice for the Eternal Domain's current needs. This way, Eternal Domain soldiers equipped with personal terminals could rapidly receive and execute commands, supported by data from the information network. This would greatly improve warfare efficiency.
If the turbocharged jet engine development succeeds, the Eternal Domain's army's combat power will become incredibly formidable.
Yan Xing assigned Chui Chui the task of establishing the Eternal Domain's information network and designing the personal terminals for its soldiers.
More processes that needed completion were added to Chui Chui's task queue.
Afterward, Yan Xing considered what else to procure to enhance the Eternal Domain's overall defenses. P&l#ease% re+ad t^h&is chapt%er on its o^rig$in&a!l@ platf%or#m!—M|*V-|L+1+EMP&YR.&
The first thing that came to mind was radar.
In this world, all major powers had air forces: humans had Griffons, Orcs had Rocs, and the Elf Race had Pegasus Knights. Even deep within the Swamp Tribe's territory, there were Bipedal Flying Dragons.
Therefore, equipping radar for early warning against aerial units is crucial. However, radar systems are somewhat difficult to purchase. But if I can't buy them, I can try to build them. It isn't as if I need to counter stealth fighters; a World War II-era radar could probably detect something as large as a Griffon.
Being a boss means having a boss's mindset. Does a boss need to know the manufacturing process for everything? A boss's role is to set goals for employees to strive for; the process of reaching those goals should fully leverage the employees' initiative. Without some pressure, they'd never know how much untapped potential they possessed.
Chui Chui is an excellent employee; she can work 24/7 without needing a salary.
The task of developing radar, then, falls to Chui Chui…
"Yes, Master! I guarantee I will complete the mission, Master!"
