Chapter 116: Racing_1
Due to the terrain of Wildwind Highlands, Yan Xing selected mountain bikes with strong off-road capabilities for the Werewolf Warriors. These bikes had large tires, a simple structure, and excellent traversal capability. They were also durable, possessed good shock absorption, and were lightweight. If the terrain became impassable by bike, they could simply carry them. Equipping an army with bicycles on a large scale had precedents in modern warfare history and had proven exceptionally useful in areas lacking good roads.
Thus, bicycles became standard issue for Light-Armored Werewolf Warriors of the Eternal Domain.
Hibel diligently practiced riding the bicycle but still couldn't bring herself to lift both feet off the ground simultaneously. Seeing Yan Xing approaching, she immediately got off the bicycle and began explaining her awkwardness, "This is too hard to learn, even harder than riding a Griffon. I really don't understand how those Werewolves do it. They sit on it without ever toppling over."
"This is called a bicycle." Yan Xing took the bicycle from Hibel's hand and began adjusting the seat and handlebar height. "Before you learn to ride a bicycle," he explained, "you need to adjust it to a comfortable height. Werewolves' legs are different from human legs; they prefer to set the seat lower to make it easier to exert force. They also like the handlebars lower, causing their bodies to almost lie flat on the bike, shifting their center of gravity forward. Humans, especially beginners, need to raise the seat a bit higher, and the handlebars as well. This allows the legs to extend properly and lets the seat support more of the body's weight."
Yan Xing finished adjusting the bicycle and handed it to Hibel. "Alright, give it another try."
Sitting on the bicycle, Hibel felt much more comfortable than before and, eager to try, she asked Yan Xing, "Can I ride it now?"
"I'll teach you a few more cycling tips, and then you can ride it. First, you need to be brave; secondly, be very brave; and most importantly, definitely be brave. You're not afraid to fly high on a Griffon, so why be afraid of a fall on the ground?"
With that, Yan Xing hopped onto another bicycle without adjusting it. He called out to Hibel, "Come on, follow me! Start pedaling!"
Yan Xing pedaled forward, cycling along the grassy field.
Seeing Yan Xing riding with such ease ahead, Hibel summoned the courage she had when she first learned to ride a Griffon and pedaled shakily after him.
Once she overcame her mental block, Hibel's excellent coordination—befitting a powerful Knight—soon allowed her to control the bicycle.
Her feet pedaled alternately, and the bicycle surged forward rapidly.
The sensation was very different from riding a Griffon, and also from riding a warhorse.
She was now riding a machine she completely failed to understand.
It had two wheels, one in front and one behind.
When stationary, it had no support and couldn't stand on its own. So why was it so stable when moving?
It appeared to be a very simple machine, with no Magic Power involved. Yet, it was somehow so magical.
Hibel, having now learned to ride, sped up. Her competitive spirit soon had her overtaking Yan Xing, who had been in the lead. As she passed Yan Xing, Hibel even turned to give him a challenging smile.
This is absolutely intolerable!
There's no way I, with over twenty years of cycling experience, can lose to a girl who just learned to ride!

Yan Xing quickened his pedaling pace, his rear even lifting off the seat. Yet, the distance between the two of them kept growing larger.
My hero level must be too low; I lack Hibel's explosive power and strength. With insufficient horsepower and power output, it seems I can only eat her dust. This won't do. I need to think of something.
"Chui Chui! Chui Chui!" Yan Xing called out to Chui Chui, the Deep Sky Whisperer.
Chui Chui, on standby in the consciousness space, immediately responded, "Chui Chui is here! What would you like me to do, Master?"
"Chui Chui, have you understood all those books I had you read in the Magic Tower? I'm racing Hibel right now. Losing to a novice in my own area of expertise is incredibly embarrassing; quickly, think of a way to help Master get past her."
Chui Chui replied, "Reporting, Master! Chui Chui has finished reading all the books you asked. I can help Master design a turbojet engine to provide thrust for your bicycle."
Yan Xing's legs were a blur, pedaling so furiously they nearly cramped.
Sigh... I'm suffering the consequences now for trying to show off without adjusting the handlebars and seat height!
"Quick, quick! Install that turbojet engine you mentioned on my bicycle! Hibel is riding so fast, she's almost out of sight!"
"Yes, Master! Chui Chui will immediately begin developing a turbojet engine for Master."
Why does it still need to be developed from scratch now? I don't know if it will be ready in time.
"Quick, develop it faster!" Yan Xing urged.
"Yes, Master!"
Chui Chui saluted Yan Xing like a soldier, then spun around, her attire changing into a professional blouse and a pencil skirt. She then ceremoniously put on a pair of glasses and summoned a computer desk. Sitting before the magic book, she began typing rapidly on a virtual keyboard.
The turbocharged jet engine began to take shape, modeled within Yan Xing's consciousness space.
Turbocharging utilized Air Magic Elemental forces, channeling them through turbine movement to achieve pressure amplification. The intensified gas would then be ejected backward through a specially designed narrow passage to generate reactive thrust.
With her computational prowess, Chui Chui could easily perform the gas dynamics calculations and finalize the layout of the turbine and air passages. By scientifically structuring the turbocharged jet engine assembly, she aimed to establish a viable theoretical basis and design plan.
Magic could replace the physical hardware components of the turbocharged jet engine, allowing it to operate. The magical architecture allowed the airflow to autonomously undergo the turbocharging process via a magic array. Another magic array module would then guide the high-pressure gas to be ejected evenly in the designated direction through the designed conduits.
The force generated by the turbocharged jet engine also had to be applied precisely to the bicycle's center of gravity while being ridden, ensuring that the applied thrust didn't create an additional control burden.
The design of this magical construct wasn't overly complex. The challenge lay in managing the various forces involved: intake, ejection, thrust generation, attitude adjustments during movement, and changes in external airflow. All these complex internal and external forces could impact the overall balance of the system, potentially leading to a loss of control. Once the balance of forces on an object moving at high speed is lost, severe accidents can occur.
If a turbocharged jet engine were simply attached to my rear without any other considerations, I probably wouldn't dare do anything except ride straight ahead, Yan Xing mused.
But Yan Xing had Chui Chui.
Chui Chui, possessing formidable computational power, was capable of instantly adjusting and rebalancing the various internal and external parameters of the turbocharged jet engine as Yan Xing performed maneuvers. Furthermore, when Yan Xing had returned to the real world, Chui Chui had connected to the internet and downloaded quite a few useful things. Some confidential data was incorporated into the turbocharged jet engine Chui Chui designed.
It was a known principle that for the same pressure and volume of gas, some designs could generate 10 kilograms of thrust, while others might only produce 0.1 kilograms. Consequently, the Magic Power consumed to generate the same amount of thrust would also differ vastly.
Master is competing... Master must win!
Chui Chui poured all her skills into rapidly developing a turbocharged jet engine system.
Upon adding the final magic symbol, Chui Chui jumped up and reported, "Master, reporting to Master! Chui Chui has completed the development of the Turbocharged Jet Engine Version 1.0. This version of the jet engine…"
Yan Xing didn't wait for Chui Chui to finish her introduction, shouting, "Install it quickly! Get it on me fast! I can barely see her anymore!"
"Yes, Master! The first practical magic test of the Turbocharged Jet Engine Version 1.0 is now commencing! If any abnormalities occur during the test, please notify Chui Chui immediately…"
As Chui Chui announced the commencement of the practical magic test, a ring of bright cyan runes materialized on the outer surface of the armor at Yan Xing's rear. A magic array formed, with these runes nesting one after another within it. Then, a new magic array appeared, complete with its accompanying runes, fitting like a module atop the first one. Subsequently, magic arrays of varying sizes and with different magic circuits were superimposed layer by layer.
Rapidly thickening as if assembled from automated modules, the physical entity of Chui Chui's designed turbocharged jet engine gradually materialized.
The entire engine measured one meter in length and twenty centimeters in diameter. Taking a semi-solidified form composed of Air Magic Elementals, it was positioned behind Yan Xing's rear. Slightly narrower at both ends and a bit thicker in the middle, it resembled the large abdomen of a wasp posterior to its slender waist.
It wasn't exactly aesthetically pleasing, but Yan Xing couldn't see it anyway.
Right now, I just want to catch up to Hibel and preserve my reputation as an old hand!
Engine start!
The cyan, Air Magic Elemental-based turbine began to spin, rotating faster and faster, drawing air from intakes on its sides into the core of the turbocharged jet engine. The incoming air was progressively pressurized by the turbine stages, compressed into the central chamber, and then channeled through ducts to the annular exhaust nozzle.
Air Magic Elementals congregated in the center of the rear exhaust nozzle, forming a brightly glowing sphere. The airflow ejected here would be further pressurized by the Air Magic Elementals, generating even greater thrust.
