Chapter 73: Chapter 63
"This will be the last warning I give you. From now on, I won't care, and I won't say a word."
"..."
"Forget it. No, never mind."
The words "Do whatever you want" rose to the tip of my tongue, but I managed to swallow them down. After all, there was some affection built from all the time spent together, and it felt a bit too harsh. Also, without realizing it, I had become somewhat frustrated with the changes in myself as I continued to take care of the others.
The sharpness I once wore around my entire being, that unwavering heart, was starting to waver. I hadn't returned for this childish game. The time wasted in this dungeon felt too precious. I wanted to rein in the laziness I had unknowingly been slipping into.
The others were watching me silently, their breaths barely audible. Seeing their eyes and the colors of emotion in them stirred something inside me, but I quickly steadied myself. I then spoke with a firm voice.
"The voice we just heard was from Lamik. Yun-Jung already explained, so let's move on. However, there will be two statues on either side. They are traps, so don't hesitate—destroy them before they activate."
I didn't want to wait for them to experience the traps firsthand. Instead, I opted for the most effective strategy. After speaking, I moved ahead with swift steps. The others, flustered, followed behind, but I increased my pace, not waiting for them.
With quick steps, I soon transitioned into a run, and as I closed the distance, I drew my sword. The sharp, crisp sound of metal rang out, and the cold blade of my sword scattered light around me. From now on, I was planning to take a more proactive approach to handle things myself.
Silently advancing, I soon saw another passage ahead. Without hesitation, I passed through it and, as expected, in the open area, a player was lying on the floor, crying tears, with his right arm severed. It seemed my earlier sword strike had hit him directly.
"Please... help... Kkhh!"
Before the others could react, I dashed forward and swiftly decapitated the Lamik. On either side of the now-dead Lamik, two statues stood unmoving. They weren't gargoyles or other monsters; they were humanoid statues dressed in deck armor, resembling soldiers.
Killing the Lamik didn't trigger the activation of the traps, so I immediately targeted one of the statues, stabbing my sword into it. As my blade pierced it, I heard a faint, grinding noise, and the statue briefly lifted its arm. But that was all. My sword cleanly pierced the center of the statue, destroying its core. After a twist, I pulled the sword free, and the statue remained still, no longer moving.
"Ha!"
An-Hyun wasn't just standing still either. A cold, eerie aura quietly emanated from his body, indicating that he had once again strengthened his resolve. Moving forward, An-Hyun followed my lead, deeply thrusting his spear at the remaining statue. With the magic charged into his spear, it easily broke through the stone floor, and I heard the sound of stone cracking. After checking that the statue had a large hole in its center, I quickly turned around.
"Next. We go right away."
Since there wasn't much physical toll on me, I decided to move forward to the next open area. An-Hyun followed closely behind, but Yun-Jung and Sol were still standing there, looking dazed. They alternated between glancing at the slimy remains of the Lamik and the statues, then, noticing us moving ahead, they quickly picked up the pace and ran to catch up.
"Next... a group of goblins. Should be easy. Everyone, take your positions. We're going in just like we did with the Rengas."
The next clearing was literally a goblin's den. However, it wasn't something we could take lightly—there was a goblin shaman and several hop goblins guarding it. A group like this, with a combination of enemies, would be a tough challenge for new players, but sadly, this wasn't a problem for me.
After entering the clearing, I quickly broke formation and cut down the goblin shaman and the hop goblins that were guarding it. Then, I lured the remaining goblins toward our formation, and once they joined us, we charged right in. There were a fair number of them, but my previous experiences dealing with high-difficulty monsters like the Black Scorpions and Black Wolves helped a lot. Plus, it was easy to wipe out a goblin group that had lost its leader.
After the battle ended, we took a break while I helped An-Hyun, who had been poisoned by goblin venom. As An-Sol treated him, Yun-Jung and I scoured the clearing, looting anything the goblins had. They were fond of shiny objects, so there was a high chance we'd find something valuable. While the goblins' weapons and armor were useless, we did manage to find some worthwhile loot.
The mood among the group was low. To boost morale, I showed them the items we had found. There wasn't much gold, just about 30 gold coins, but we had found three gems. Two small opals hidden in my pouch and a red sapphire from the goblin shaman's staff.
I tossed one of the small opals in the air, caught it, and spoke up.
"Look, even though this opal is a little small, the color is quite nice, isn't it? With this, we could easily get at least 20 gold per gem. So that's 40 gold for the two opals. And this thick red sapphire should fetch around 70 gold. Add in the 30 gold coins, and that's a total of 140 gold. To put it into perspective, the four of us have barely scraped together 10 gold from three months of training at the player academy, but in just one battle, we've earned fourteen times that amount."
"So, the deeper we go..."
"Exactly. There could be even greater treasures further in. Now do you understand why players are so obsessed with dungeon exploration?"
When Yun-Jung saw the gems, her eyes sparkled with excitement. An-Hyun, clearly shocked by the immense profit, nodded fervently. However, there was a sense of relief on everyone's faces, as if my voice had softened and they felt reassured. Watching their reactions, I silently smiled. It felt like they were truly trusting and following me. But, I knew if I let the mood slip too much, it could cause things to unravel, so I maintained a serious atmosphere.
After going through the Rengas, Lamik, and the goblin den, we continued advancing without hesitation. Once An-Sol finished her treatment, we set off again. No one seemed to have any complaints. Having just gained profit, they were likely curious and excited to see what else we might find.
After passing through another tunnel, we reached the next clearing, which turned out to be a spider's den. The black, shaggy hairs and dark, glistening exoskeletons made it clear these were no ordinary spiders. Particularly concerning was the yellowish fluid oozing from their bodies, suggesting they might be venomous.
Although they were tricky to deal with, I had a feeling that once we passed this area, we would reach our intended destination. It was a sort of intuitive feeling, honed after passing through countless dungeons. The long-awaited Alchemist's base was close. Eager to push forward, I took a step into the clearing.
Thud! Clatter…
"Eeek!"
Suddenly, a greenish orb fell from the ceiling and struck Sol on the head, rolling to the ground. Sol let out a cute scream and started panicking. I quickly kicked the orb away and looked up at the ceiling.
"Ugh…"
"Wh-What...?"
The others, who had reflexively followed my gaze, froze in shock, their faces pale. They were so startled that they pointed at the ceiling without speaking, their mouths agape.
There, hanging from the ceiling, was a player. Her arms were bound with white threads, and her body hung limp, seemingly trapped in a spider's web. It was a female player, and the clothes she wore had been shredded into ragged pieces. What was most disturbing, however, was her unusually swollen abdomen.
I frowned as I observed the scene. But there was nothing I could do immediately. I could only watch. Since it was a web-based trap, I hadn't noticed it earlier because she was suspended in mid-air. If I had been closer, I might have sensed it immediately.
After chastising myself for my momentary lapse, I activated my third eye. Although my body had changed a lot, being fundamentally human, I could still retrieve player information. I planned to gather the information while assessing the situation.
The player information that appeared in front of me gave a clear, alarming picture of the situation.
Player Status
Name: Jung Ji-Yeon (2nd Year)Class: Normal Mage RunnerNation: BabaraClan: -Nationality: - · South KoreaGender: Female (20)Height & Weight: 161.3 cm · 54.5 kgAlignment: True Neutral
Stats
Strength: 45Resistance: 26 (-12)Agility: 34Vitality: 17 (-25)Mana: 28 (-49)Luck: 58
Notes:
Physical Mutation: Caused by someone's influence, resulting in significant losses in Resistance and Vitality. These losses are ongoing.Main Physical Mutation: The perineum area (located between the genitals and anus). The player is currently under forced pregnancy.Spider Growth: The spiders inside the player's body absorb her mana to grow and will be born after maturing.
The status clearly explained the severe situation Ji-Yeon was in. The physical changes caused by the spider's presence were not only devastating but ongoing, affecting her resistance, Vitality, and mana. The fact that she was being forcibly impregnated by spiders made the situation even more disturbing.
"Ahh….ahhh…mhhh"
Her suffering was apparent from the muffled sounds of distress coming from her. The spiders growing inside her, feeding off her mana, were only going to make things worse. It was a tragic sight.
Ji-Yeon moaned and her face contorted. Her perineum parted slightly and then a series of green orbs fell. The orbs hit the ground and squirmed, then sharp legs tore through the mass and popped out. The children, watching the events unfold, said nothing at first, but then, one by one, they began to show signs of growing anger. It seemed to be influenced by their personalities.
The bulging belly of Ji-Yeon and the orbs falling from her stomach. The children also realised where these orbs or eggs came from. They understood what was happening. Especially Yun-Jung and Sol, who were both female players, were more angry than usual.
I felt sorry for them too. Of course, I didn't feel sorry for a woman who was only 20 years old and at the peak of her beauty. She's only in her second year, so she's not doing too badly. If you add up all her lost stats, she's grown so much that if I'd seen her in the city, I'd probably have taken her with me in the future.
But that was in the past. For me now, it was simply a maternal body that produced spider monsters. For a moment I thought about the elixir, but then I shook my head. It would be a waste to use it here and now. If so, perhaps it would be better to kill her for her own sake.
Of course, if I searched hard enough, there might be a way, but honestly, I was too lazy. I wasn't sure if she would even become a reliable ally, so I didn't want to waste a precious elixir or put in the effort to restore her to her original state. I just wanted to finish the dungeon quickly and return to the city. That was my true feeling.
