Melodies of Love and Loss

Su Jian pressed her lips together and quickly looked away.

Jiang Yan didn't strike up a conversation with him either. After they had walked away, Jiang Yan said softly, "Did Zhou Lu just hear what you said? He looked so upset."

Without a second thought, Su Jian said, "Why do you always pair me with him? He already has a girlfriend."

"That girlfriend of his..." Jiang Yan paused, then, as if she had thought of something, she asked, "The night you asked me for drinks after you returned to the country, and I had Zhou Lu take you home, nothing really happened between you two, did it?"

Her eyes darted around evasively as she insisted, "Nothing happened, I've explained it to you eight hundred times already, why do you still ask?"

Jiang Yan looked at her with half belief and half doubt.

"Yanyan, I need to talk to you about something," Song Yan suddenly popped up from nowhere, nodded at Su Jian, and finally settled his gaze on Jiang Yan.

Jiang Yan sensed that he seemed a bit unhappy, but she still followed him.

Watching their retreating figures, Su Jian inexplicably felt that Song Yan and Jiang Yan were a perfect match, and a look of relief appeared on her face, so much so that she didn't even notice when Zhou Lu came over.

"I've heard Miss Su has been doing quite well abroad these past years, how come you suddenly decided to come back to develop your career here? Could it be that foreign men's money isn't easy to swindle anymore?" Zhou Lu had a graceful and dignified smile on his face, but the words he uttered were extremely harsh.

Su Jian braced herself and said with restraint, "Mr. Zhou, please show some respect."

Zhou Lu sneered, "Did I say something wrong? Or has Miss Su changed her ways, not living off men anymore?"

Su Jian smelled alcohol on him and guessed that he might have drunk too much, she did not want to get entangled with him and turned to leave.

Zhou Lu grabbed her arm and forcibly pulled her into an empty private room.

Immediately, Su Jian looked at him with full vigilance, "What are you trying to do? Don't forget your girlfriend is still outside."

Zhou Lu calmly adjusted his tie and scoffed, "Stop pretending, it's not like we haven't done it before. Tell me, how much for one time?"

With an indifferent face, Su Jian called him by his name, "Zhou Lu, stop being crazy!"

"Being with you is barely passable. While I still have some interest in you now, you can name your price." Zhou Lu's gaze roamed over her body, gradually deepening.

Su Jian felt as if she was standing in front of him without any clothes, utterly humiliated. She clenched her fists tightly, "Mr. Zhou, I already have a boyfriend, please show some respect."

Hearing this, not only did Zhou Lu not care at all, but he seemed even more excited, "So what? I have a girlfriend too. That makes it even more thrilling."

Su Jian felt sick to her stomach, thinking that he had truly gone mad.

"If you say one more word, I'll tell your girlfriend right away," she said sternly.

Finally, Zhou Lu's expression changed slightly; he seemed rather disappointed, his face growing cold, "If you're not willing, then forget it."

"Where did you go? I've been looking for you for so long?" Seeing Su Jian come back, Jiang Yan finally felt relieved.

Su Jian glanced involuntarily at Zhou Lu's table; he seemed as if nothing had happened, calmly chatting with those people. During the conversation, he didn't forget to ask Ye Nuannuan what she wanted to eat and meticulously served her, which sparked a round of teasing from everyone, calling him the most attentive and caring boyfriend.

Ye Nuannuan laughed merrily in his arms.

Su Jian found it extremely ironic and could not help but admire Zhou Lu's acting skills. One moment, he was entangled with his ex-girlfriend, and the next, he was showing off love with his current girlfriend as if nothing had happened. How could he do it without showing any sign of deceit?

Lost in self-doubt, Su Jian couldn't help but wonder if Zhou Lu had cheated when he was with her.
