After a single killing blow, he descended, twisted his body, pulled out his dagger, and then smoothly vaulted over the wall opposite.
The linen clothes on Mu Fan were initially covered in dust from the explosion, but after continuous battling, they were already muddy and soaked with blood, occasionally revealing patches of white that still showed the original color of the clothes.
Using the smoke from the explosions rising all around, Mu Fan ran swiftly. The streets, alleys, and courtyards were filled with dead bodies, piled corpses, and scattered limbs. The flowing blood dyed the ground red. Those crazed Star Thieves were still firing at the crowd, but Mu Fan had no time to bother with these matters. All he could do now was to obtain the RX-16 as quickly as possible and then strike!
Finally, he was close to the edge. Ahead was the path to the mountains, where the tall grass provided the perfect cover. It seemed the Star Thieves indeed avoided this area, confirming Black’s judgment was correct.
Otherwise, why was no one here?
No, there was someone! As a black plume of smoke drifted overhead, Mu Fan was about to leap off the wall when his scalp tingled, and with the corner of his eye, he noticed a dark gun barrel aiming in his direction not far away.
Someone was actually here, gun raised and waiting. Mu Fan violently swept his right hand, and with a muffled thud, someone fell over there.
Walking over, he saw the Star Thief with the dagger embedded deep in his face, the firearm in his hand weakly dropped. After checking that no one else was around, Mu Fan finally confirmed that this was just a Star Thief who happened to explore here.
“Mu Fan, from the nineteen remaining surveillance points outside the city, mechas have been detected advancing into the city. Among them, one confirmed is the ‘Spirit Cat D-level Tiger Type Mecha’, matching data from the New Guardian Association base.” Black’s voice suddenly came through, informing Mu Fan that the New Guardian Association had already begun taking action.
Time was running out. If delayed any longer, the military wouldn’t have any mechas left. How could he exact his revenge then!
“Mu Fan, give me ten more minutes. I’ve already taken control of a radio station; starting to intercept using shortwave signals for data decryption. By then, I can intercept their communication information.”
Poison Scorpion had roved the star domain for over twenty years, cunning and tricky. This internal and external collaboration on Loga Star was seamless, but no one expected an Intelligent Life far beyond this era to appear. Currently, this Intelligent Life was angrily unraveling the meticulously arranged intricate network. No one knew that ten minutes later, this network, holding an earth-shattering secret for decades, was about to unveil its entire veil to Mu Fan.
Of course, Mu Fan was unaware of these. With a grunt as acknowledgment, he began moving toward the hillside as Black instructed. He removed his shoes, his feet feeling the familiar touch of the soil gave him a sense of returning to nature, arching his body, adjusting his breathing.
Dark Breath continuously operated, marking his longest entry into the Dark Breath state today. He could confirm that this state couldn’t be perpetually maintained, as he felt his spiritual power rapidly depleting, while the cells within his body constantly emitted energy, continuously supplying him to maintain the Dark Breath state.
In other words, despite Dark Breath allowing a balanced depletion of cellular energy, the Blood-colored Vision nearly doubled the consumption. Maintaining this state for too long would make him… hungry. Of course, Dark Breath’s duration far exceeded the burst-like skill of Blood-colored Vision.
Fortunately, his continuous intense eating over the past two days left him feeling full of energy, with the ceaseless power released from the deepest parts of his body’s cells, supporting his jumping, running, and bursting.
Like a fish returning to the ocean, once Mu Fan entered the long expanse of tall grass, he made no sound.
…
This was a hidden military warehouse in the second district, classified at the highest level even within the Loga Star government. This was because Councilman Hobart had four directly subordinated guards. Aside from himself, Major Hobart, and the guards themselves, no one knew the locations of these guards. And the authority to mobilize belonged solely to one person—Loga Star Councilman Hayden.
One of the Guard bases was within these slopes; only a cave entrance hidden by mechanical rocks at mid-mountain was the sole entry.
This point housed a total of three RX-16s, five RX-25s, and two RX-33s, the strongest military force the second district possessed.
Now the military’s communication network had been mysteriously cut. Therefore, even if this Guard could see the external situation, they dared not act rashly. Until Councilman Hobart’s orders were conveyed, they had to obey orders to garrison here.
Mu Fan clung to the side of the rocky wall, his body strangely spreading flat. Along with no respiratory fluctuations, he almost merged with the rock.
“Black, I’ve arrived.” Mu Fan lightly pressed his teeth together, his voice resonating through his bones into the earpiece.
“Done! It’s been decrypted. Now, this gentleman has officially infiltrated the network of this military warehouse. The restrictions are lifted; now these clueless soldiers can contact their master. However, the Loga administrative network cannot be restored. It seems there are traces of artificial physical destruction, which I cannot repair.”
Poison Scorpion, quietly enjoying the fireworks, had no idea that a network within one of the bases had inadvertently been restored over ten minutes ahead of schedule. No one in the Broken Axe Star Thief Group knew it was an Intelligent Life that had breached their first barrier.
“Report to the Major! The communication network is back to normal, fifteen minutes earlier than expected. Next steps please advise!” A soldier entered the command room and saluted.
“Excellent, quickly contact Councilman Hobart for permission to attack!” A young officer with the Federation Major’s insignia eagerly pressed the virtual sand table.
“Yes, sir!”
“I am Loga Star Councilman Hayden.”
“Report, sir, the Fourth Guard is ready. Await your orders!” Wasting no words, the Major saluted smartly and inquired to the projected image of the Councilman.
“Deploy the Fourth Guard mechas and harshly eliminate these scoundrels for me!” Councilman Hayden’s face was flushed, slamming his fist down. His pent-up frustration would have had him spitting blood if not released.
“Yes, sir!” After closing the dialogue, the Major turned and immediately issued the command, “Order the ten-man team to quickly prepare, conduct pre-departure checks on the mechas!”
Then, with a sound of a frustrated curse, the whole unit hidden beneath the mountain began to move.
By the time the Major contacted the Councilman, Mu Fan, guided by Black, had already entered the mountain.
“The iris scanner is decrypted; you’re about to enter. Mu Fan, you must proceed strictly under my guidance. Otherwise, if you trigger passive defense weapons, you’ll die,” Black solemnly warned.
“Enter in 4 seconds. There will be a 300-meter metal corridor with various non-electronic triggered traps. Currently, two patrolling soldiers are about to reach the end of this corridor at the right-angled turn. Your task is to leave without making a sound within fifteen seconds of their backs turning to the other side,” Black directly issued an almost impossible task.
But Mu Fan nodded, gently shook the dirt from his feet, following the instant in Black’s monitoring when the two soldiers turned, the mountain’s entrance door silently opened.
Mu Fan slipped inside!
