Chapter 220: Are you there? Touching gold?
The next day, getting up, washing, breakfast.
All the miscellaneous tasks were resolved within an hour. For a fully charged start, Li Zheng cooked up a three-dish meal and a soup, double portion, early in the morning.
While filling his stomach, he also managed to stack the Buffs for all four Attributes.
"Hmm, the first round of Flame Branch is planted now. This afternoon, I'll plant the second round, and then harvest them on time."
During the middle of the night, Li Zheng was woken up by the household machine model "Nanny" just to plant the Flame Branch seeds.
Although the Flame Flower doesn't have a "time limit" once it becomes a seed, Li Zheng opted for continuous planting to level up Ice and Fire Attachment as soon as possible.
Not wasting a moment.
Before Ice and Fire Attachment reaches Full Level, Li Zheng doesn't plan to use the Thunder Element.
This item's precondition is possessing a certain type of Thunder Gene Ability oneself.
According to Old Prel's hints, different types of Gene Abilities, even if of the same Tier, have different values.
Therefore, to acquire a satisfactory Thunder Ability, he might have to take the risk of side effects, repeatedly using different Attribute items to remove any unsatisfying Thunder Abilities.
This is no small task.
Everything ready, he packed up the capsule house, took Little Sakura and Pink Poli, and officially departed for today's exploration.
Since he needed to head to the doctor's location, Li Zheng skipped the exploration of the five doors and proceeded straight in the direction indicated by the card.
Prelis' Eye provided environmental information for after stepping out of the door.
[Behind the door is a tomb, with burial items within it. Choose this place, and after tomb raiding, you may acquire some non-Technology Side items. The Tier is low, consider it further.
Warning: Tomb raiding may trigger the tomb owner's wrath.]
"Consider, my foot. Do you think I don't want to?" Li Zheng rolled his eyes, swiping his card at the door.
"The problem is, whatever's here, I have to go through this way."
The door opened, and with Little Sakura and the others, he stepped inside.
The environment in front of him changed; Li Zheng arrived at a slope, with beautiful scenery, a gentle breeze, and the air filled with a floral fragrance.
Looking up, he saw a metal door hanging suspended above.
Clouds gathered at the door's sides. Whether they were projections or real clouds was unknown.
The slope was covered with weeds and unknown wildflowers. These plants had no Attributes and, when dry, could be used to start a fire.
Amid the plants were hidden rocks of various sizes, with only Old Prel's hints besides:
[Walk this way, and 500 meters ahead you'll see a tombstone.]
Taking out the card, indeed, one arrow had vanished. Looking in the indicated direction, the hint changed again.
[Walk this way, and 800 meters ahead, you'll see the door to the next room.]
"Hmm, everything is about as I expected. To complete the transportation task by following the arrows, it will take until tomorrow at the earliest."
Li Zheng pondered hesitantly, considering whether to work overtime at night and set off immediately after the exploration count refreshed to complete the task.
"Finishing early could save time and use the Star Thief to return."
Star Thief could only be held for three days, and Li Zheng intended to use up its less than twenty remaining teleportation opportunities before returning it.
No matter what, using it one less time felt like losing money.
Heading towards the hinted tomb direction, Li Zheng recalled a few people who hadn't returned to channel 879 yesterday.
"I wonder what Chu Xiao and the others are really up to. By now, after a night, their names should appear on the power ranking of channel 24, right?"
"Hmm? Right, I remember I seemed to find another player in this channel yesterday..."
Li Zheng realized this, opened the regional channel, and checked the power ranking.
Sure enough, after refreshing at 8 am, his name had already appeared.
Besides him, another player's name caught Li Zheng by surprise.
"Kato Junwa? What is he doing here?"
Passing through the gate to the left, Li Zheng already knew that Kato Junwa was the superior of his contact.
He also knew that the other party was a minor leader of the "Creation" organization.
But wasn't he in channel 24?
Why is he here, of all places?
"Was it also for the doctor?"
Thinking it over, Li Zheng concluded that this was the only possibility; otherwise, why would he come to such a remote channel with nothing better to do?
Without inquiring on the regional channel, Li Zheng knew Kato Junwa would surely ignore him.
During the previous two Trade Chats, Kato Junwa never participated, likely realizing that the contact had certainly sold him out.
Even if he had participated, Li Zheng would not have been courteous to him.
"I wonder if the two nighttime creature attacks were related to him?" Li Zheng was already contemplating asking Kato Junwa directly after the task was completed.
Five hundred meters, not far, Li Zheng soon saw a tombstone appear ahead.
The tombstone was carved from gray stone, standing over two meters tall, just emerging from the weeds.
Behind the tombstone was a large mound of earth. Even from a distance, its enormous scale was apparent, no less than a basketball court.
Approaching, Prelis' Eye gave another hint.
[A tombstone. Buried within the tomb is this channel's former administrator. Before passing, he gave away all valuables, leaving only some aesthetic items as burial goods.
Be cautious, the tomb owner seemingly set traps in his resting place, potential danger lies ahead.]
Clearing away the weeds, the entire tombstone was exposed, its gray stone surface deeply engraved with complex writings.
Even though he couldn't understand them, Li Zheng recognized they were different from the patterns he had seen before.
"Looks like it's yet another Race I've never encountered?"
Li Zheng had no interest in the meaning of these writings, being here only to casually dig a tomb.
Despite Old Prel having indicated that the burial goods left by the other party weren't valuable, any bit is still something.
"So, where do I enter this tomb?"
Circling around the tombstone to check the mound, Old Prel gave no indication of an entry.
It seemed he had to figure out a way in on his own.
Taking out a shovel, Li Zheng hesitated a moment, then released two household models to do the work.
The Intelligent Humanoids had no qualms; they didn't even have emotions, acting solely on command.
Pointing to the tomb, Li Zheng gave the order: "Dig it up for me!"
The two Intelligent Humanoids then set to work vigorously digging.
Thanks to their mechanical bodies, this digging task was not laborious for them.
Clank! Clank! In just a few shovels, they cleared a patch of vegetation on the mound's surface.
Digging diligently in one area for three minutes, on another shovel strike, the sound changed.
Li Zheng immediately called a halt, stepping forward to expose what lay beneath.
It was a stone barrier; carefully cleaning the edges, he scraped out a gap.
"The entrance to the tomb chamber?"
The door was carved with fierce mythical beasts, some having twisted, indescribable parts.
[The beasts carved on the door are those the tomb owner slew in his lifetime.]
"Is this to flaunt his power or intimidate tomb robbers?"
Li Zheng examined the carvings closely, his pupils contracting sharply upon spotting a familiar creature in the corner.
