Mated at First Sight

Chapter 6: Chapter 5: Mu Lin or Jing Chen_1

Quite an interesting situation indeed.

Observing the terrified expressions of those around him, Mu Lin sketched out a slight smirk, and softly assured the man with a darkened expression: "Don't worry, as long as they don't disturb me, I won't let your 'second life' be in danger."

Blatant, she was.

As he stayed quiet, unlike the others, he felt no sensation in his injured leg after the needle was inserted.

It seemed this seemingly simple girl really had some exceptional skills.

Their Chinese Medicine in China truly was somewhat miraculous.

Mu Lin was efficient in extracting the bullet in just a few deft moves.

"The bullet didn't go deep, and it didn't hit any bone or vital parts, you only lost some blood. Compared to some I've handled before, this is child's play." She thought, if she had the right tools, these people would probably have dealt with it themselves. These type of injuries must be common amongst them.

The people before her were evidently not ordinary; they were likely accustomed to injuries. She figured these minor wounds probably don't consider much to them.

After disinfecting, stopping the bleeding, and bandaging it, she finally removed the thin silver needle. It was then that the others realized the presence of the needle and understood what Mu Lin meant when she said she had already administered anesthesia.

She really was… remarkable.

"Okay". She spoke softly, tossing two medicine bottles to Black Shark. "This is for stopping bleeding, killing pain, and scabbing wounds. Take one pill a day, there are three pills in total. You can pour your own water from the side. As for the rest, just follow accordingly." With that, she picked up the tools from beside her and began walking toward the inner room.

Xigua watched Mu Lin leaving and mused, "The Poison Doctor truly has a peculiar disposition." But she didn't seem like a wicked person.

She obviously wasn't inclined to save others but she still chose to act. Despite her extremely cold demeanor, she still gave them medicine, moreover, she didn't mention any compensation.

Xigua remembers, he had to pay a substantial compensation to a person he had known before.

She was truely inscrutable.

"Alright, enough talk." Black Shark said calmly, walking to the side to pour a cup of water. He then took a small, black pill from a small porcelain bottle and handed it to the man. The man took it expressionlessly, but his dark, somber eyes were still trained on Mu Lin's retreating figure, his gaze enigmatic.

After a short while, Mu Lin returned, putting down the items in her hand. When she came out, she was still holding a small tray. On it were several small dishes, a bowl of porridge and a dozen or so steamed buns.

"Is this…for us?" Seeing the food in Mu Lin's hands, the people who were no longer anxious felt their stomachs rumble. Their eyes were glued to the food on her tray.

"In consideration of you saving Qiaozi, let's just call the treatment a life for a life trade. As for this," she pointed to the food as she placed the tray onto the side table, "consider it a bonus." She then turned again, her icy voice echoing in the room, "I hope not to see you here when I wake up tomorrow morning. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude."

Without even turning her head back, she was gone in a few strides.

They looked at each other.

"Does she mean we can stay here for the night?" Xigua asked their boss, puzzled; yet he found his boss's attention was not on them. His gaze was fixed intently on the empty space in the distance.

Xigua guessed inexplicably; Boss, could it be that you're interested in this eccentric Poison Doctor?

No, absolutely not!

He dismissed the idea immediately.

In boss's eyes, there was no such thing as a woman.

"I believe that's what she meant." Someone stepped forward and slapped Xigua's shoulder, he picked up a steamed bun without any hesitation, then poured some porridge and handed it to the injured man.

Truth be told, even though the steamed buns were completely cold, they were still soft. For people who have just been through an ordeal and haven't had any soft food in almost half a month, this was an incomparable delicacy.

Once their minds were at ease, their stomachs followed suit.

Perhaps no one but the injured man noticed that Mu Lin had just equated his life and Hai Dongqing's.

Or rather, his life was worth less than Hai Dongqing's in her eyes.

"It seems the Poison Doctor isn't as vicious as rumors made her out to be." Someone picked up a steamed bun and sighed.

But, if they knew the purpose of these buns before they entered their mouths, would they still find it delicious?

A true gentleman doesn't fuss about minor details!

"Alright, let's rest up as soon as we're done eating. We're leaving early tomorrow morning," Black Shark announced.

He had faith in the Poison Doctor. She was a woman of her word.

Poison Doctor… he wondered what she meant by not being polite.

Although he had some guesses, he wasn't planning to experience firsthand what she meant.

He put down the bowl and chopsticks and leaned back against the soft couch.

Jing Chen had never met a woman like this before. It could be said that he didn't even consider the women around him as women at all. In his eyes, there was no difference between men and women.

Watching her retreat, Jing Chen couldn't help but wonder about this woman. Who had nurtured her, and why she had been living in such an…eccentric place.

She was young, and yet, she had already made a name for herself. Although her reputation was not a good one, her abilities were indeed admirable.

But to Jing Chen, the four words Mu Lin said to him were surely unforgettable for a long time.

"Drop your pants."

He chuckled to himself, there was no need to think too much about it. After all, he didn't think he would encounter her again; this woman who had made him speechless for a moment.
