Mash-Up: Anything for Money

Chapter 324: 314: The Vision Became More and More Blurry

In the half-finished building, a flash of intense light suddenly struck! The building, already labeled as dangerous, began to shake slowly under the effect of the light.

It was like an earthquake had struck; within a few seconds, the multiple floors of the half-finished building began to sway.

Like a domino effect, one after another...

"Boom!!!"

With a deafening and thunderous roar, the half-finished building collapsed amidst the billowing dust.

In an instant, the dust rose up, resembling the dark sandstorm raised by a giant beast, rapidly spreading in all directions, enveloping everything around it.

The once-standing structure, filled with desolation and decay, gradually vanished from sight, leaving only a chaotic ruin with broken walls and scattered debris, twisted steel bars protruding from shattered concrete blocks.

In the following minutes, within the ruins, the stacked steel bars and broken bricks began to slowly shift.

The next moment, a figure in black standard attire raised one hand and casually pushed away a heavy stone pressing down on him.

His long hair, as black as ink, hung loosely behind him, and his delicate face was now covered in dust from the collapsed ruins.

This person was none other than Hakuto, who had just fought with Otosaka Yuu.

"If there's a next time, I'll turn the power all the way up and crush your skull..."

Hakuto hadn't expected that, after losing control, Otosaka Yuu would be so reckless, disregarding everything and triggering a collapse in frustration.

But luckily, the collapse of a small half-finished building wouldn't cost them both their lives.

Otosaka Yuu was in much better shape than Hakuto right now. After the collapse, his instinct was to use his ability to protect himself.

Currently, there are no ruins surrounding him. He had essentially created a clean sanctuary using his power.

Looking at Otosaka Yuu lying on the ground not far away, Hakuto really wanted to hit him in the head.

He had just rested for a few hours, and now this happened right after waking up.

You don't need sleep? You're so impressive. But wait until your ability runs out, and I'll be right here to watch you drop dead!

But grumbling aside, Otosaka Yuu was almost awake. To avoid another fight, Hakuto thought it was better to leave the area.

"Wait?! Where's my hairpin?"

Hakuto suddenly realized that his long hair was hanging loose behind him and wasn't tied up.

Leaving it for now, he quickly decided to find his hairpin...

Although the ruins of the collapsed building were large, Hakuto still managed to find his hairpin.

Because of the gold material being relatively soft, the hairpin given to him by the five sisters had sustained some damage.

However, luckily, it was still usable...

Hakuto tied his hair up and then, with a movement, disappeared from his location.

"Sorry, you are not in service..."

"I..."

Not long after Hakuto left, Otosaka Yuu woke up from where he had been.

He covered his face, gasping for air. After two years of walking on the edge of death, Otosaka Yuu had developed a strange premonition about death.

"I'm going to die... I'm going to die..." Otosaka Yuu muttered crazily to himself.

"How could I die? I'm the Grim Reaper... the Grim Reaper..."

The title "Grim Reaper" was given to Otosaka Yuu by people he had met during his years abroad.

Because he no longer had just one eye, the "one-eyed" prefix was no longer used, but the title of Grim Reaper was still well kept.

Otosaka Yuu looked at the map lying beside him, with green dots clearly visible one after another.

He didn't feel lost for long, as he still remembered his goal.

...

Over the next year, Hakuto remained as close to Otosaka Yuu as he had before.

Moreover, since Otosaka Yuu had taken the ability to foresee the future, Hakuto's movements were more restricted.

At least for now, he couldn't stay within Otosaka Yuu's sight, or else they would inevitably have to fight.

It was one thing to fight in the wilderness, but if it happened in a city full of people, who knew how many lives would be lost...

Additionally, because of staying close to Otosaka Yuu, Hakuto had appeared in the sights of certain people.

Some had approached him, hoping to cooperate and kill Otosaka Yuu.

But what had become of that person in the end? Hakuto couldn't quite remember. They should have died, right?

In the end, it was still a matter of killing...

However, Hakuto didn't feel much turmoil inside.

After all, those people didn't have good intentions, and he had often been in fights before. His temperament wasn't exactly gentle.

If you don't come and disturb others, everyone can get along fine, but if you dare to mess with him, you better think carefully before doing so.

But, in the end, there were those who wanted to cooperate, and others who didn't want Hakuto to live.

However, it was all in vain... Hakuto's bounty on the black market should have reached tens of millions by now, and still increasing...

If captured alive, the price would be unimaginable...

In a pitch-black room, Hakuto sat on a sofa, hugging his knees, his face marked with deep dark circles and endless confusion.

Due to the continuous enhancement of his body and abilities, Hakuto could now even sense where Otosaka Yuu was without using his eyes.

Tracking him was easy... but Hakuto felt so exhausted...

His vision was getting blurrier...

He took out his phone and looked at the damaged screen, showing no emotional reaction.

"Won't turn on, huh... Forget it..." Hakuto put the phone back into his bag.

Now, he didn't even know what purpose the phone could serve; he just knew that carrying it was always the right thing to do.

His bag also contained many things he didn't know the use for, but he still carried them.

The dead portable music player, the shabby folding fan, and a phone that wasn't even as useful as a brick.

They didn't really help Hakuto now...

But he instinctively touched his bag and the hairpin on his head.

For some reason, whenever he felt tired or confused, touching these things brought him an inexplicable sense of comfort...

"It's almost time... If I go any slower, I won't be able to keep up..."

To avoid the bug in his foresight ability, Hakuto had to stay farther from Otosaka Yuu...

"My vision is getting blurrier..."

Hakuto mumbled to himself as he carried his worn-out bag.

___

To be honest, I don't get it.

"His body got stronger" and the adolescence ends at 19 iirc.

Why is he having these symptoms??
