Chapter 165: Chapter 163: Nine-Tailed Fox Task Force, God's Rod
T/N:
I made a mess, again, don't worry tho its just minor.
Imma just revise the description and name for the newly made task force. So Nine-Tailed Fox Task Force is coming back while the priviously revised name- Ashen Wings, is gonna be straight to bin.
-----------------
Facing an invincible monster, this world's strongest warrior, Oka, decided to entrust his hopes to others.
Beside the remains where the Nurarihyon was about to be resurrected, Oka calmly donned a second set of specially prepared protective armor.
Although he knew full well that this armor wouldn't grant him even the slightest chance of victory, without it, he doubted he could even achieve his goal of stalling for time.
Even knowing he was walking to his death, Oka remained composed.
From a distant high-rise, Suu observed everything.
As a transmigrator, Suu had initially believed she might be the so-called "chosen protagonist."
Unfortunately, she wasn't.
After all, in such a desperate situation, Suu was powerless to change anything.
She wasn't even confident he could fulfill Oka's request, to truly kill the Nurarihyon.
How could such a hopeless predicament be that of a protagonist?
As Suu took deep breaths, trying to calm her emotions and enter a sniping state, she saw something through his scope, a light that changed everything.
A sudden anomaly appeared on the battlefield: a stream of light manifested out of thin air, spiraling into a portal.
Oka instantly leaped up, raising both hands in a defensive stance, warily watching the glowing gate.
And from within the portal, figures emerged.
One after another, fully armed personnel stepped through.
They wielded silver-colored weapons with flattened muzzles, their gun bodies emitting a white-hot glow. At their waists were numerous small canisters labeled with words like "Plasma," "Molten Fire," and "Lightning."
But the most striking feature was their attire, each was encased in a dark red full-body exosuit.
As they moved and breathed, parts of their armor flared with ember-like light, resembling a phoenix in the midst of rebirth.
On their backs, nine blood-red, fox-like tails swayed in a rhythmic motion, as if they were living weapons.
After landing, these operatives swiftly raised their weapons and scanned their surroundings before forming ranks.
Despite the blood and gore beneath their feet, they remained utterly unfazed, completely indifferent.
Seeing this team emerge from the strange portal, Oka felt an immense pressure; not just from their equipment, but from their presence.
These were battle-hardened warriors, their aura surpassing even his own in their silent defiance of life and death.
From afar, Suu watched the scene through his scope, his eyes widening in shock.
"What… are those?"
Suu was utterly baffled by this strange force.
Could it be that the Black Sphere had realized the Osaka team couldn't handle the Nurarihyon and dispatched another team?
It was possible.
In the original story, the Hyakki Yagyō was handled jointly by the Osaka and Tokyo teams.
But these people's equipment—
Their guns, their armor—
They were entirely different from anything produced by the Black Sphere.
Logically, as a Black Sphere combatant, Suu should have dismissed non-Black Sphere gear as inferior.
Yet, looking at the silver-white weapons and the dark red, almost organic exoskeletons, he felt they vastly surpassed the Black Sphere's technology.
The Multi-Dimensional Chat Group buzzed with discussions over this unexpected turn of events.
Pain Magnet: "Who are these people? That armor is insane!"
Hall Master of Wangsheng: "I don't understand, but they seem really powerful. Suu, do you recognize them?"
Portal Daddy: "These exosuits... I've seen similar design concepts in Tony Stark's database, but he hasn't realized them yet."
Portal Daddy: "The weapons they carry, the glowing sections of their guns, those are like mini arc reactor cold fusion cores!"
Portal Daddy: "The level of technology these people possess is far beyond the Black Sphere of Suu's world… It even surpasses the so-called 'Iron Man' of my world."
Pain Magnet: "Hiss! That terrifying?!"
Blonde Defeated Dog: "Are these people allies?"
Big Sister is Supreme: "Wait a minute… why does this armor style remind me of the SCP Foundation?"
Blonde Defeated Dog: "!?"
Suu's gaze lingered on his interface, fixating on the message from Shinobu.
SCP Foundation?
Suu had only recently learned about that organization.
A group that traversed worlds, containing anomalies, protecting humanity. And these people, weren't they precisely travelers from another world?
At that moment, the final person stepped through the portal.
Unlike the fully armored operatives, this individual wore only a simple white robe, blending in like any ordinary Tokyo passerby.
Aside from his breathtakingly handsome features, he bore no other distinguishing traits.
Yet, the heavily armed squad stood at attention, awaiting his command.
"President, we have arrived at the target world. Please issue your orders."
The young man nodded.
"Commence the containment operation."
Blonde Defeated Dog: "It's Haru!!! Ahhh, I'm dead! It's really Haru! So cool, so cool, so cool!"
Perhaps because they were only communicating through text and couldn't see each other face-to-face, Eriri let loose completely.
And her message confirmed what the Multi-Dimensional Chat Group members had suspected.
The youth was indeed the powerful existence they had discussed before, the one who traversed worlds to contain anomalies: Haruto.
Big Sister is Supreme: "So it's that guy. Tch, as much as I hate to admit it, now that he's here, there's nothing to worry about."
Pain Magnet: "This is the legendary SCP Foundation President? His entrance alone is next-level!"
Hall Master of Wangsheng: "Oh my, a very handsome young man. His aura is also incredibly calm, quite similar to a certain guest of my house."
Blonde Defeated Loser: "*Hyperventilating!*"
Portal Daddy: "Eriri, please calm down."
On the battlefield, following Haruto's order, the Nine-Tailed Fox Task Force dispersed, systematically eliminating and containing all anomalies.
Oka hesitated, raising his hand as if to speak.
He wanted to warn them, these yokai were nothing like ordinary beasts. Conventional firearms would barely scratch them.
But as he observed the ember-like glow of their armor, he felt… maybe there was no need to warn them.
And indeed, his assumption was correct.
Soon, the Nine-Tailed Fox operatives encountered their first enemy.
A massive, four-to-five-meter-tall, one-eyed, one-armed, green-skinned monster charged at them.
One operative simply stopped, raised his weapon, and fired.
No gunfire.
No muzzle flash.
Not even recoil.
A moment later, the charging monster's head exploded in a shower of blood and flesh.
It collapsed, lifeless.
To the ordinary eye, it was impossible to discern how the creature had died.
But through the enhanced optics of his specialized armor, Oka zoomed in and finally saw the projectile that had slain the yokai.
A small, silver-white, coin-like bullet.
Even Oka was stunned.
Such a weapon… terrifying beyond measure. No delay, pure physical force, yet no recoil whatsoever.
Compared to this, the Black Sphere's energy weapons seemed crude.
At that moment, a voice spoke beside him.
"That's the 'God's Rod'—a dual-purpose kinetic and energy electromagnetic rifle."
Upon hearing this, Oka immediately understood the weapon's principle.
It was a handheld railgun!
An electromagnetic accelerator firing rigid metal slugs at devastating speed and mass.
But how was it powered? Conventional railguns required massive energy supplies, how had they miniaturized it into such a sleek, silver-white gun?
And "dual-purpose"? Could it also fire energy-based attacks?
Soon, Oka stopped thinking.
Their technology was beyond comprehension.
"...Who are you people?"
Oka had dropped his guard completely, asking with curiosity rather than suspicion.
"We are the SCP Foundation. Our duty is to Contain, Secure, and Protect humanity from anomalies."
Haruto spoke indifferently, his gaze lingering on the remains of flesh and blood not far away.
Within them, something was in the process of resurrecting.
If he acted now, he could easily crush it.
However, Haruto was somewhat interested in this creature from the original storyline, the fifth form of the Nurarihyon, which called itself a 'god.'
Besides, with him here, a mere Nurarihyon was nothing to be concerned about.
Oka heard his words and wanted to ask something else.
But at that moment, the remains underwent an abnormal change.
A red laser shot through the remains and pierced the sky.
A pair of grayish-white skeletal hands tore apart the flesh and blood.
A humanoid monster, crowned with a white skull, its eye sockets glowing red, and surrounded by bone spikes, emerged from the remains.
The fifth form of the Nurarihyon—Demon King!
Oka immediately raised his hands, preparing to attack, but Haruto reached out and stopped him.
Facing the terrifyingly oppressive skeletal Demon King, Haruto stepped forward, one step at a time.
From a distance, Suu watched the scene unfold, her eyes widening in shock.
That was the fifth form of the Nurarihyon, a being that even claimed to be a 'god'! A monster powerful enough to destroy Earth!
Pain Magnet: "@Blonde Defeated Dog, Haruto just walked over like that. Is this really okay?"
Golden Defeated Dog: "I don't know either! Haruto won't get into trouble, right?! Aaaaaah!"
Big Sister is Supreme: "I've never seen this guy fight, but according to Wings of Freedom, even a so-called 'god' is nothing more than a containment object to him."
Portal Daddy: "Just from the footage, it's hard to tell..."
"Should I pull the trigger now?"
Suu hesitated.
But in the next moment, she abandoned the idea.
Because in the center of the plaza, Haruto, who had walked up to the skeletal Demon King, reached out and tore off one of its arms.
