Chapter 163: Chapter 161: Ushi-Oni, Great Tengu, and the Annihilation of the Osaka Team
As she spoke, Suu had already reached a building opposite Tokyo Plaza.
She drew the black hilt from her waist, and the moment it was in her hand, a blade of laser light extended from it.
With a single slash, she cut through the locked door and entered the building.
This high-rise had an excellent vantage point and directly overlooked the final battlefield, making it the ideal sniping position.
While climbing the stairs, a sharp, eerie laugh suddenly echoed through the stairwell.
Suu's steps paused momentarily, but she continued ascending without stopping.
The members of the chat group watching the video were all on edge.
Blonde Defeated Dog: "That laugh is so creepy… Are there monsters here too?"
Pain Magnet:"Suu usually coasts through these things. She wouldn't get taken down by some small fry, right…?"
Hall Master of Wangsheng: "She should be fine. I believe in her."
Portal Daddy: "Even though Suu usually slacks off, she's been training for this wipeout crisis. She's got this."
Big Sister is Supreme: "By the way, where is he? He disappeared right after collecting his gifts!"
At this moment, Suu had no time to check the chat.
With her hand resting on the hilt of her blade, she remained fully alert as she swiftly climbed higher. Just as she reached another flight of stairs, a ghastly white figure suddenly lunged at her from the exit above.
The figure appeared to be a woman dressed in all white, but her skin was even paler than her clothing, with black, viscous liquid dripping from her face.
Suu ducked swiftly, narrowly avoiding the figure's pounce.
A sharp, ear-piercing metallic screech followed—
The creature's clawed fingers had effortlessly sliced through the stair railing behind her.
And that was solid metal.
Without hesitation, Suu executed a smooth backflip, her long blade slicing toward the creature's back.
The laser edge met no resistance, effortlessly cutting the monster in half.
Black blood splattered everywhere.
Without pausing, Suu stepped forward and drove her laser blade straight through the creature's skull.
More dark blood sprayed out in torrents.
Finishing the job, this was a habit she had cultivated since the beginning of her journey as a transmigrator.
Sheathing her blade, Suu turned away without a second glance at the Sadako-like monster and continued ascending the stairwell.
Pain Magnet: "!"
Blonde Defeated Dog: "Wow, that was so cool!"
Hall Master of Wangsheng: "Suu has honed her skills over time. She can overcome fear, ordinary monsters won't even touch her."
After dealing with the Sadako-like creature, Suu encountered no further enemies and reached the upper floors smoothly.
However, she didn't proceed all the way to the rooftop.
The highest point would be too conspicuous.
Instead, she entered a floor below and selected a room, rolling inside cautiously.
Keeping herself hidden, she approached the window, remaining cloaked in invisibility and using the curtains as cover to observe the scene outside.
The final battle hadn't begun yet.
Suu remembered that during the Hyakki Yagyō, the boss—Nurarihyon—had overlooked the battlefield from a high vantage point.
If she were discovered prematurely, everything would fall apart.
Through her sniper scope, Suu scanned the area and soon found her target.
Just as expected, the eerie old man and a massive Tengu were perched atop a high point in Tokyo Plaza.
After a single glance, Suu withdrew her sight.
Some monster bosses had extremely keen senses, staring too long might alert them.
Instead, she shifted her gaze downward.
And what she saw made her frown.
The delinquent leader of the Osaka team had arrived near the plaza on his motorcycle, along with his teammates.
And they were sitting on the roadside, eating snacks.
This Black Ball mission was happening in the real Tokyo.
This wasn't a simulated space.
In other words, countless civilians were still present in the city.
Just ahead of the delinquent and his group, a monster was slaughtering innocent people.
Yet they paid no mind, continuing to eat and drink.
Suu raised her sniper rifle.
Portal Daddy: "Suu, stay calm! If you fire now, you'll be discovered immediately, and it's all over!"
Blonde Defeated Dog: "Yeah! If you get caught now, you won't be able to kill Nurarihyon. You'll just die!"
Pain Magnet: "These guys are trash! How can they be so indifferent to human lives?!"
Hall Master of Wangsheng: "People who disregard life are disgusting."
Big Sister is Supreme: "Sickening, but stay calm. For the sake of saving more people, you have to endure."
After taking several deep breaths, Suu managed to suppress her anger and didn't pull the trigger.
If she didn't kill Nurarihyon herself, the story might not follow its original course.
In the original events, Nurarihyon was essentially forced into a plot-driven death.
Otherwise, even someone as strong as Oka Hachirou had been instantly killed by him, no one in this world should have been able to defeat Nurarihyon.
At that moment, another disturbance erupted on the other side of the Tokyo River.
A massive presence stirred the water.
A colossal, horned beast, over a hundred meters tall, was wading through the river.
Compared to it, Tokyo's towering buildings looked minuscule.
It was Ushi-Oni—the largest monster in the Hyakki Yagyō.
In Black Ball missions, all monsters were assigned point values.
The stronger the monster, the higher the points. Even the final bosses of regular missions were typically only worth a few dozen points.
But Ushi-Oni was worth a staggering seventy-six points!
And even more terrifying, Ushi-Oni wasn't the final boss of this mission nor was it even the strongest elite enemy.
Ushi-Oni was advancing toward the plaza.
With the crowd gathered there, it could easily massacre thousands of civilians.
Just then, the air in front of Ushi-Oni twisted violently.
From within the distortion, a massive black mech materialized, blocking Ushi-Oni's path.
The mech was even larger than Ushi-Oni itself, its entire body wrapped in thick black cables, resembling a Jaeger from Pacific Rim.
Oka Hachirou was piloting it.
In Black Ball, high-level equipment was categorized into different tiers.
After reaching 100 points for the first time, players could only redeem basic advanced gear like gravity guns. Only after exhausting those options could they obtain second-tier equipment like high-speed bikes and advanced suits.
And only after acquiring all those could they finally exchange for a mech like this one. Oka Hachirou had reached 100 points seven times, an utterly monstrous feat.
Now, the mech and Ushi-Oni clashed.
A thunderous boom shook the area.
Ushi-Oni roared, swinging a massive fist that sent the mech staggering backward.
Although Oka Hachirou's skills were formidable, the mech's sheer size caused a delay in response time.
Fortunately, it was armed.
The mech took a few steps back, and a compartment at its waist opened.
A massive, ten-meter-long blade ejected.
Oka Hachirou gripped the hilt and drew the blade in one fluid motion.
The black sword, crackling with electric arcs, sliced through the Tokyo night.
A terrifying wave of energy erupted, bisecting Ushi-Oni in a single stroke.
A scene beyond belief.
Blonde Defeated Dog: "It feels like I'm watching a sci-fi movie..."
Pain Magnet: "And even this isn't enough to kill Nurarihyon?"
Hall Master of Wangsheng: "According to Suu, no. Size alone won't matter against him."
Suu inhaled deeply.
Oka Hachirou was unbelievably strong.
But knowing that something existed that could instantly kill even him—
That was truly terrifying.
Portal Daddy: "It's here. Suu, watch carefully!"
At that moment, a message from Doctor Strange snapped everyone out of their awe at the mecha.
In the center of the plaza, the Osaka team members, having had their fill of fun, had begun slaughtering the yokai indiscriminately. Suddenly, a towering creature over three meters tall, with enormous black wings on its back, descended into the heart of the plaza.
Great Tengu.
It grabbed an Osaka team member with one hand.
Before he could even struggle, the creature effortlessly crushed him to death.
The protective suit only held out for a brief moment before the protective fluid leaked out from his neck.
The Great Tengu casually discarded the lifeless body to the ground and then stomped it into pulp. It then let out an enraged roar toward the remaining Osaka team members.
But Delinquent Guy remained indifferent even after witnessing this scene.
Even if a teammate died, it wasn't something he cared about.
Lifting his gravity gun, Delinquent Guy smirked with disdain.
"Hah? You're getting all cocky just for killing a small fry?"
As he pulled the trigger, an invisible yet tangible shockwave descended from above.
For most monsters, there was only one outcome when facing a gravity gun, being crushed into a bloody pulp.
It was a terrifying weapon capable of creating a one-meter-deep crater in solid concrete.
The shockwave landed on the Great Tengu.
Blood and flesh splattered everywhere, and a deep pit formed on the ground, filled with blood.
Delinquent Guy sneered.
"Pathetic."
He laughed as he walked toward the blood-filled crater.
Yet inside that crater, something stirred.
The Great Tengu, its wings crushed and its body covered in blood, was slowly climbing out.
The sight made Delinquent Guy frown.
"Still struggling?"
He aimed the gravity gun at the Great Tengu again and pulled the trigger.
Once more, blood splattered.
But this time, the Great Tengu merely bent under the pressure, it didn't fall back into the pit.
Delinquent Guy's expression momentarily froze before contorting into a snarl.
He began firing repeatedly.
Yet despite the relentless pressure of the shockwaves, the Great Tengu stood up, little by little.
Then, during a brief gap between shots—
It grabbed Delinquent Guy.
As his terrified screams filled the air, the Great Tengu lifted him high above the ground.
"Help me! Somebody help me!"
Delinquent Guy screamed in panic.
But the other Osaka team members merely watched, as if they were enjoying a show.
"Hey bro, quit messing around and finish that thing off."
"Yeah, yeah, if you keep dragging this out, it's gonna get boring. Hurry up and kill it so we can move on to the boss."
Their words shattered what little composure Delinquent Guy had left.
