Chapter 35: Chapter 34: Uncle's Care, Nephew's Loyalty
Middle-aged Peter Spider was chatting leisurely with Madam Octopus when suddenly, his spider-sense began to tremble violently.
Instinctively, he dodged to the side.
However, Madam Octopus had already received an alert about the Scorpion Man's ambush through her earpiece.
She swiftly extended two mechanical tentacles. One swept across violently, blocking Peter's escape route, while the other grabbed his ankle in a vice grip!
Sizzle—
A yellow-green ball of venom narrowly grazed Peter's back. The highly corrosive aqua regia inside rapidly dissolved parts of his suit.
Luckily, his reflexes had saved him from taking the full brunt of the attack. Otherwise, the consequences would have been dire!
However, the neurotoxin in the venom began seeping into his body upon contact with his skin, making his movements sluggish.
Bang!
A mechanical tentacle lifted him high into the air and smashed him into the ground.
"Ahhh!" Peter let out a cry of pain as he hit the ground hard.
Hearing his cry, Madam Octopus's old grudges and fresh anger flared up together. She grabbed him again and slammed him repeatedly into the floor, leaving Peter seeing stars.
"Let him go!" the Spider Mech Girl shouted, guilt welling up in her heart. If she hadn't let her guard down, the enemy wouldn't have had this chance to hurt Mr. Parker.
Without hesitation, she charged forward, the metal gear in her hand spinning rapidly. Sparks flew as it cut into the mechanical tentacle.
"You? Stop me?" Madam Octopus sneered, extending another tentacle to counterattack the Spider Mech.
"Whoa! Isn't this getting a little too rough?" a strange voice suddenly called out from a distance.
A silver-gray figure appeared out of nowhere, slamming into the Scorpion Man who had been sneaking up behind the Spider Mech. The collision sent the Scorpion Man flying.
At the same time, Spider-Ham leapt into action, grabbing one of Madam Octopus's mechanical tentacles. With a quick twist and a kick of his hoof, he struck her square in the face.
"Argh!" Madam Octopus cried out as she was sent tumbling backward.
The neuro-linked tentacles reacted to the impact, releasing Peter in the process.
The Spider Mech Girl caught Peter in her arms. "Mr. Parker! Mr. Parker, are you okay?"
Peter clutched his back, wincing. "Ow! My back! My back! That woman's venom is no joke—it burns like crazy!"
Spider-Ham inspected Peter's injuries before glaring at the Scorpion Man. "You're really playing dirty, huh? Using such nasty tricks? Don't blame me if I give you a taste of my Big Pig Hoof!"
With that, Spider-Ham launched himself at the Scorpion Man, looking unusually serious this time.
Meanwhile...
On the other side of the battlefield, Little Black Spider was being chased relentlessly, teetering on the brink of desperation!
It wasn't too surprising.
He had just barely mastered his abilities and hadn't seen any real combat.
On top of that, his opponent was his closest uncle—he never wanted to fight against him.
Coupled with the Wraith's extensive combat experience, he was able to predict his movements time and time again.
Soon enough, Little Black Spider found himself cornered on a rooftop by Wraith.
After exchanging a few blows, Wraith grabbed him by the throat and lifted him high into the air.
Looking at this young man, who resembled his nephew, Wraith spoke in an utterly cold tone: "Originally, this had nothing to do with you, but the boss has given a direct order to kill you. If you're looking for someone to blame, I guess it's because you know too much."
As Little Black Spider stared at the menacing Wraith mask, he couldn't help but see the cold eyes of his Uncle Aaron through it.
His heart raced with panic.
He had intended to keep his identity hidden, but now, he could no longer hold back.
Struggling, he weakly raised his hand, placed it on his head, and pulled off his mask.
Click!
Wraith slowly lifted his hand, preparing to end Little Black Spider's life, but suddenly, his motion halted in midair.
"Miles?!!" Even through the mask, Wraith's shock was palpable. His grip on Little Black Spider's throat loosened instinctively.
"Aaron Uncle... it's me," Little Black Spider managed to say with difficulty.
Wraith ripped off his own mask in disbelief. "But this is Miles… no, how could it be you? How did this happen? Why…"
Little Black Spider gazed at the familiar and comforting face. His racing heart finally settled. "It's a long story, but Uncle Aaron, can you please let me down first?"
"Okay, okay…" Wraith replied, his voice softening.
He was about to set Little Black Spider down when a voice came through his earpiece.
"Wraith, what are you doing? Kill that brat now!"
"Mr. Fisk, I…" Wraith's movements froze, his expression changing rapidly.
"What's wrong with you?" Fisk's voice came through cold as ice. "That brat has seen everything! If he talks, it'll ruin me! You have to kill him! Otherwise, I'll kill you and take care of him myself! You know I always do what I say."
"Yes," Wraith still hesitated.
Having worked for Fisk for so many years, he knew well how ruthless the man could be.
There was a time when he wasn't the king of New York's underground world.
Back then, the city's criminal underworld was filled with rival factions.
Then, Fisk appeared out of nowhere.
With his extraordinary intelligence and iron fists, he brutally united all of New York's underground world!
There were those who opposed him, but some were beaten into pulp right then and there, while others were thrown into the sea to be fed to the fish!
From that point on, New York's underground world was dominated by one man.
Fisk!
He was the undisputed king of New York's underworld!
No one could refuse him!
And no one could ignore his threats!
Wraith knew that if he dared to refuse Fisk's order now, he might find the bodies of his own brother, Jefferson Davis, his sister-in-law, Rio Morales, and his nephew, Miles, the next day.
Don't doubt it. This is exactly the kind of thing Fisk would do.
But how could he harm the person standing before him?
This person was his beloved nephew, Miles!
Wraith was deeply conflicted, frozen in place as he struggled with his thoughts.
In the distance, a shadowy figure stood near a car.
It was also an extended limousine, but not the usual Lincoln Fisk drove.
The reason was simple: that Lincoln was widely known, and today's job involved murder. Fisk didn't want his public identity linked to a crime.
As for why an extended version… Well, Fisk had been in the business of fighting all his life. Couldn't he enjoy a little luxury?
Ahem, the main reason was that he had trained his body to be so massive that he couldn't fit into an ordinary car; only an extended limo could accommodate him.
At that moment, Fisk watched from the car, peering through the window at the rooftop where Wraith and Little Black Spider were locked in confrontation, his face expressionless.
He never imagined that Wraith, who had always been so obedient, would now defy his orders!
Could it be that the brat had some connection to him?
