Chapter 228: Chapter 229: A Mysterious Ritual and Cryptic Words
More than half of the scenes had been filmed by this point, and the crew granted everyone a five-day break. After all, working continuously for a month can be mentally exhausting.
"Hey, Regulus, when will my scenes start shooting?"
Milla Jovovich asked, clinging to Regulus Black during her last set visit before the break.
"Don't worry, Milla. Your scenes come later. Once the break is over, it'll be my turn to drop by the set."
Kate walked by in a medieval corset gown. Today marked her final scene—after this, any visit to the set would just be a friendly drop-in.
"Kate really suits period costumes. The name 'English Rose' fits her perfectly."
Regulus Black took Kate's hand, gave it a gentle kiss, then sent her off to remove her makeup.
"During the break, I'll send you your part of the script. Trust me, it's a minor role that really stands out."
Regulus then turned his attention to Milla. Today, the supermodel was wearing an oversized T-shirt printed with a Crimson Manor movie poster. The shirt was black, featuring crimson text and a design showing pale snow and a dark manor.
It was so large that it draped from Milla's neck down to just above her knees. With batwing sleeves on both sides, the shirt looked even wider when she raised her arms.
On her feet were black leather shoes with tassels. Though the heels weren't high, they made her calves look slender and long.
However, like most Western women, she had a common flaw—freckles. Many of Regulus Black's other women had the same issue. Fortunately, just one potion could permanently eliminate them, provided they were his women.
Just look at the women surrounding Regulus Black. The schoolgirls didn't count—some, like Hermione, had only just started developing freckles. But the young women who had already graduated were another story.
Judy Fox from the Auror Department, Mrs. Cook from Sleepy Hollow, Penelope Clearwater—the newly graduated prefect from Ravenclaw, his personal legal advisor-secretary-lover Lucy Piddle, and actresses Jennifer Connelly and Charlize Theron—all had freckled skin problems at some point. But Regulus had used potions to completely rid them of it.
"What a shame about such nice skin. If you paired it with scarlet gemstone jewelry, you'd look even more stunning."
Regulus Black never rudely pointed out a woman's flaws. Instead, he'd gently lament it as a missed opportunity.
And while he was at it, he'd promote his own line of exclusive jewelry.
If a woman became his, he'd generously gift her an entire box. Otherwise, she'd have to buy it herself—but scarlet gems weren't cheap.
"I really like how that sounds. But I know my skin isn't great. Without makeup, I'd lose a lot of points."
Because of Regulus Black's subtle hints, Milla had been paying close attention to him and yearning for more. It was enough to make someone open their heart and reveal their inner thoughts. Kate was in a similar situation, but since they were still working together, nothing was obvious yet.
"Some secrets are meant only for the closest of people. If you become a member of the Black family, things like freckles won't matter at all—and you'll gain so much more."
Regulus's words to Milla were, in essence, a promise.
"Hearing you say that makes it sound like a vampire gathering his clan."
Milla Jovovich assumed Regulus was joking. She didn't say whether she believed him or not, but his playful tone had successfully lifted her from a gloomy mood.
"Maybe I am the vampire you're talking about. Once you're bitten by me, you'll become my thrall and gain eternal youth and life—maybe even strange powers."
Regulus Black spoke half-seriously, going along with her words, though the essence remained the same.
"If everything you said were real, I wouldn't mind living forever in the night."
Milla responded cleverly. As for whether Regulus was truly a vampire—didn't everyone already have their suspicions?
How could a vampire be out filming movies in broad daylight?
"Then come to my room tonight. We'll hold a ritual to welcome you into the Black family."
Regulus kept up his mysterious air, saying words that could easily be misunderstood. Was this his way of trying to sleep with an actress?
"Alright! I'll definitely come tonight. What time exactly?"
Milla Jovovich couldn't resist Regulus. She had long been waiting for him to make a move. Now that the invitation had been extended, she had no reason to refuse.
"Please arrive by five o'clock so we can still have dinner together. And please dress formally—this is, after all, an important ceremony."
Regulus Black had his own plans for Milla. If he said it was a ceremony, then it truly was one.
"What are you two talking about so mysteriously?"
Kate Beckinsale had changed her clothes and rushed over, only to find that Regulus Black and that Milla were still deep in conversation.
She had already been with the crew for a month without making much progress with Regulus. She couldn't let this woman get ahead of her with just a few words.
"Regulus was telling me a vampire story—and asking if I wanted to be part of it."
Milla Jovovich smiled as she explained to Kate, her tone deliberately vague and misleading.
"But I have other plans tonight, so I have to leave for now. When I return to the set next week for filming, Kate, make sure you come visit me."
Milla and Kate acted like close sisters. Milla had previously used Kate as an excuse to visit the set.
In truth, everyone in the crew knew exactly who Milla Jovovich was really there to see.
"Of course. I'll be visiting the set often too."
Kate Beckinsale clearly didn't buy Milla's excuse, but thinking about it, she figured she'd probably do the same. And from the way Milla was speaking now, it seemed she was planning to carry on this excuse in a fair and reciprocal manner.
When you're filming, I'll drop by every other day. And when I'm filming, you can come by every other day too.
Should she start visiting the set every single day? Would that seem unfair? Would it give Regulus a bad impression?
Kate Beckinsale began to obsess over these small details.
Watching Milla casually turn and walk away, she couldn't help but feel a small twinge of admiration.
After their goodbyes, Kate suddenly remembered what Milla had said earlier.
"Regulus! You're not working on some vampire script and planning to cast Milla in it, are you?"
Kate Beckinsale clung to Regulus's arm with a pout, pressing her chest against it.
What does it feel like to have a full chest pressing against your arm? In truth, aside from being soft, it brings little physical pleasure—but it's a statement.
Naturally, Regulus Black wasn't about to expose the little lies between women.
Those who feel a sense of control only when others are fighting are simply trying to mask the fact that they're not in control at all.
To put it simply, emperors who enjoy watching their harem quarrel are all useless.
If you're strong, your harem will be well managed without any drama. If you're not, then you rely on their infighting to make yourself feel important.
"If there's a role that suits her, then there's bound to be one for you too. The question is, when the opportunity comes, will you be up to the task?"
Regulus Black looked at Kate Beckinsale's face and immediately thought of the vampire role she would one day become famous for.
Different vampire origins and classifications, different storylines, and all kinds of fan-made content.
That's one of the perks of being someone who's transmigrated—besides the original plots, there are countless fan-made stories to draw from.
"I can do it. You know I can. Anytime you need me, I'm ready."
Kate Beckinsale's face was flushed, her eyes brimming with desire, her heart surging with passion.
She hadn't expected that simply holding onto Regulus Black's arm for a short while would stir such uncontrollable urges. Her desire to jump into bed with him was overwhelming.
It was all Regulus Black's fault—his words were full of innuendos, enough to send anyone into a spiral of overthinking, practically hypnotizing them. Especially someone like Kate, who had already been repeatedly suggested to.
And for the sake of that still nonexistent script, Kate herself had been using suggestive language to flirt with Regulus. But in the end, she ended up more deeply affected. The effect was practically exponential.
"Kate, you look exhausted. How about I take you upstairs to rest for a while?"
Regulus Black supported Kate as they headed up to the third floor.
