"So this is the famous Professor X? He looks quite a bit younger than in the movies."

George thought to himself as he watched Wolverine push Professor X out of the water tank.

It made sense, considering if it were the year 2029 as in the movie, Professor X would be ninety-seven years old, but it was actually 2009, making Professor X seventy-seven.

"If Professor X's abilities can be restored, then our safety would be guaranteed. Even if his abilities can't be fully restored, if his mind returns to normal, he can still help these children better develop their powers."

At this moment, he decided that when he went to Hogwarts to study magic, he would also spend more time on healing spells.

If modern technology couldn't cure Professor X, then he would try to treat him with magic.

After all, Professor X was the most powerful psychic in the world.

He could read other people's thoughts and memories without physical contact, directly deprive and control others' minds through psychic abilities, and simultaneously control their actions.

If combined with a Cerebro, he could even kill all ordinary humans and mutants on Earth.

"New species, new mutants. Good, good. Logan, you must help them. They need you!"

Professor X looked at the children standing in front of him, especially the little wolf girl, Laura, and two lines of tears unconsciously flowed down his face.

He tightly gripped one of Wolverine's hands:

"Just wait a little longer, just wait a little longer, and you'll have a new family. Don't give up on yourself, everything will get better."

"Then promise me, you won't give up either. They also need your guidance, just as you once guided us."

Wolverine's eyes slowly hardened, as if he had transformed back into the fearless fighter he once was.

Just then, George walked over:

"No time to waste. Those people from the experimental base won't let us off easily; we can't stay here too long.

Now we'll split into two groups. Logan and I will go to New York to find a way to save Tony Stark.

Professor, Caliban, Gabriela, and Isa, you take the children to the North Dakota border and wait for our news.

Be aware, the experimental base has created a clone of Logan. Caliban, you must constantly watch for any new mutants approaching, and if you spot any, you must move quickly."

"A clone of Logan?"

Caliban's pupils constricted, then he pointed south:

"If I'm not mistaken, the guy you're talking about is here."

Following Caliban's finger, a long convoy of vehicles vaguely appeared on the empty land in the distance.

George narrowed his eyes:

"Faster than I expected. Good, this is a good opportunity to deal with them now, otherwise it will be trouble later."

He had already anticipated the pursuit from the experimental base. With Alkali Genetics' financial resources and status, obtaining relevant surveillance from local agencies was no difficult feat.

It was impossible for their large truck to hide its tracks.

Previously, if they had been caught, it would have been quite troublesome, because even if he could use magnetism to alter bullet trajectories and become a super sharpshooter, it would be useless against X-24.

Running out of bullets would mean his death.

But now it was different. It wasn't that Wolverine could defeat X-24; it was that he knew Wolverine had an adamantium bullet, originally saved for suicide, which would be perfect for dealing with X-24.

Killing X-24 would temporarily eliminate a major threat from the experimental base. Creating another Wolverine clone wouldn't be a quick process.

This way, they could go to rescue Tony Stark without worrying about the children being threatened by the experimental base.

If there was a chance to take out Zander Rice, that would be even more perfect.

"I have a plan..."

Turning to Wolverine, he quickly explained his counter-strategy.

Meanwhile, Commander Donald, sitting in an armored jeep, was also making strategic deployments via walkie-talkie.

"In a moment, surround the factory building completely. Don't let a single one escape.

If there's any unusual movement, shoot to kill immediately, especially Subject 757."

Following the boss's orders, he mobilized all available connections and quickly found the truck's tracks, also discovering that the escaped mutants had made contact with Wolverine, who was living in seclusion in El Paso.

They had actually known about Wolverine's and the Professor's whereabouts for a long time.

The reason they hadn't pursued the two as they did other mutants was that the boss had said it would be more agonizing for them to live a wretched existence like this than to be killed.

However, with the escaped mutant children now mixed in with Wolverine and his group, things had become complicated.

So, after getting the boss's approval, they brought X-24 this time as a precaution.

The boss had originally wanted to personally observe X-24's combat effectiveness, but he had sustained some injuries from the lab explosion earlier and was also wary of Subject 757's marksmanship, so he remained at the base.

The convoy consisted of over twenty vehicles, completely encircling the dilapidated factory. Each vehicle was packed with burly men in bulletproof vests, fully armed. After dismounting, they took up various firing positions, numbering close to a hundred.

And a certain distance from the factory, a sniper was positioned on the roof of an armored vehicle roughly the size of a bus. Inside that vehicle was their ultimate trump card, X-24.

"I never thought I'd meet you this way, Wolverine, my former idol. Hand over those children, and I won't disturb your and the old man's peaceful life."

Donald removed his sunglasses, surveyed Wolverine, who stood alone at the factory entrance, and spoke with a mocking tone.

Judging by his demeanor, he clearly held no regard for the once-famous Wolverine.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about. This is private property. Please leave."

Wolverine, recalling George's strategy of buying time, patiently tried to persuade this bastard, resisting the urge to stab him with his claws.

Donald pointed to the large truck by the entrance:

"You're very disappointing. The price for lying to me might be more than you can bear."

"I don't know whose truck that is. There's really no one you're looking for here."

Wolverine still flatly denied it.

Donald signaled to his subordinates behind him, and over twenty men immediately stormed into the factory building with their guns.

About five minutes later, they emerged from the factory, shaking their heads at Donald.

Donald raised an eyebrow at this, looked around, and finally smiled, fixing his gaze on the abandoned water tank next to the factory.

"That's a good idea. I'll bet they're in there, including the old man."

"That's just an ordinary water tank. There really isn't anyone you're looking for here."

Wolverine's expression changed, and he slowly slipped one hand into his pocket.

Donald ignored Wolverine and immediately signaled his subordinates to search the water tank.

Just then, Wolverine quickly pulled out a vial of a reagent from his pocket and swiftly injected it into his arm.
