Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Counterattack and Escape from the Base
Five days after escaping the base at the Mexico City Genetic Modification Research Institute, Sandor Rice looked at the young Wolverine clone, X-24, that he had created using Wolverine's genes and couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Finally, I've succeeded! A Wolverine who obeys my orders completely. The world will bow down to me in the future."
His father, Dale Rice, had been one of the scientists who performed the adamantium implant surgery on Logan but was killed during Logan's escape from the laboratory. From that moment on, Sandor resolved to eliminate all uncontrolled and dangerous mutants and create mutant soldiers who would obey his orders completely.
He later founded Arklay Genetics and, using his control over food and beverage companies, mass-produced the M43 virus they had developed. This virus wouldn't affect humans, but it would curb the abilities of existing mutants and eliminate genetic mutations in future generations. After more than two decades of hard work, the world would finally be free of new mutants.
"Donald, since those test subjects won't obey orders, dispose of them all."
Turning around, Dr. Rice gave a cold, steely command to a man whose right hand had been replaced by a robotic arm. His original plan was to use the mutant genes collected earlier, with surrogate mothers in Mexico, to breed a new batch of mutant children, who would then be sold as weapons to other organizations.
However, after some time in the lab, he discovered that these children, after growing up, developed their own minds and could not be fully controlled, and even attempted to escape. Now that he had developed fully controllable mutant clones, he naturally had no need for those failed ones.
Furthermore, he felt that perhaps they could be used not only as weapons but also as a stable, large-scale production of mutants who obeyed his orders, allowing him to completely rule the world.
"Do we want to dispose of that 757 as well?"
Donald was not surprised by Dr. Rice's suggestion. Dr. Rice hesitated for two seconds before nodding.
"Get rid of him. Now that the cloning technology is mature, besides mass-producing Wolverine, perhaps we can also clone Professor X and Magneto. There's no need to waste resources on inferior experiments."
"Understood."
Donald drew the pistol from his waistband and turned to leave the experimental base.
Elsewhere, George, practicing hand gestures in his room, looked at the clock on the wall, his expression gradually becoming serious.
"No, is it about to start?"
Normally, someone should have come to take him for training by this time.
"Looks like it has begun."
At this moment, his room door suddenly opened, and two familiar figures walked in. The leader was the instructor who had been training him for so long.
"I told you this guy is useless. Training him for so long was a complete waste of my time. It's time to get rid of him now."
The instructor glanced at George with disgust after entering, then ordered the men behind him holding submachine guns: "Deal with him, and then throw his body into the lab's incinerator. It will be burned with all that other garbage later."
"Yes, Captain."
The man raised his submachine gun, aimed it at George, and pulled the bolt. But just as he was about to pull the trigger, he heard Subject 757 suddenly utter an incomprehensible phrase.
"Aloho!"
With a snap, the energy suppressor on Subject 757's neck detached automatically.
Immediately afterward, he felt a chill on his neck, and his consciousness gradually faded. It turned out that George had begun casting a spell the moment he saw the two men appear, but because the movement was so subtle, the two men didn't take it seriously.
The ability suppressor disengaged, and magnetic control unleashed its full force. The dagger he'd placed at the door instantly flew up, slicing the guard's neck and temporarily averting the danger.
"Swish!"
The instructor drew his dagger from his waist, deflecting the attack from behind. A cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.
"How could this happen?"
If he hadn't reacted quickly, he would have suffered the same fate as his subordinates. The moment he saw Subject 757's ability suppressor fall off, he, who had always teetered on the edge of life and death, was immediately alert and drew his dagger. However, if Subject 757 had been the first to attack him, he probably wouldn't have had time to react.
"Are you hiding your abilities and strength?"
He remembered that Subject 757's dagger control speed and power were not strong, and he could usually deflect it with ease. But just now, although he had successfully deflected the dagger, the recoil from the powerful force was causing a dull pain in his wrist.
"Dead man, you don't need to know so much."
George controlled the dagger with a swish, destroying the surveillance cameras in the room. Then, like a violent storm, he attacked the instructor, who could usually defeat him easily. He did have hidden strength, but never as strong as he was now. This was mainly due to the unexpected bonus of his shared wizard bloodline to his mutant abilities.
The dagger's speed, the angles, and the power were so great that after just a few rounds, the instructor was covered in wounds. He wanted to escape, to get close to George in close combat, but George gave him no chance. So he could only defend himself as much as possible, hoping that his companions would notice the abnormality and come to his rescue.
However, George knew that time was precious when escaping, so he didn't want to waste it.
"Gun!"
He controlled the dagger's attack and beckoned to the dead guard. The guard's submachine gun flew into his hands.
"Instructor, goodbye!"
Pointing the submachine gun at the instructor who was still struggling to block the dagger, George pulled the trigger without hesitation. He wasn't one to be shrewd. He had a gun, but he insisted on using it.
"Da da da da da!"
"Oh, God." The instructor's eyes widened in horror at the sight, and before he could finish his sentence, he was shot to pieces. Waving his hand to retrieve his own dagger, taking the instructor's with him, George, submachine gun in hand, stepped out of his cell and crept towards the lab. He manipulated the dagger to disable any surveillance cameras or guards that might detect him. Soon, he heard intense gunfire and screams. It was clear that this time, they weren't targeting just him, but all the mutant children. Perhaps because of this, no guards arrived in time when he encountered problems. Compared to him, the mutant children caused even greater chaos. This was why he hadn't rushed to escape, waiting until today. If he had escaped alone, in this lab, with its dense surveillance system, he would have been surrounded by a large number of guards after only a few steps. Facing a large number of guns, he is not Magneto and cannot resist at all.
