Chapter 30: Chapter 30 It’s You!

It has to be said that Agent Carter might struggle with some issues, but in her line of work, she demonstrated outstanding achievements. The map she presented earlier had many details clearly marked. The most remarkable aspect was the perfect infiltration route she devised.

Following this route, one could reach the target person's office in the shortest time, provided they avoided encountering guards.

The reason for this success was that the infiltration route she suggested was on the rooftops!

After all, besides in video games, Arthur rarely saw people casually patrolling on rooftops. The entry point from ground level to the rooftops was on a nearby building!

The overall structure of the building resembled the character '回,' and Arthur couldn't determine its architectural style. However, Agent Carter had chosen the shortest entry point, the lowest building.

Waiting quietly in the bushes until the patrolling guards moved away, Arthur revealed himself and swiftly reached the side of the chosen building. With one foot on the windowsill, he used it as leverage to spring upwards. Grabbing the eaves with both hands, he pulled himself up and was already on the rooftop.

"Phew!"

Arthur let out a gentle breath. Peering from the height, ensuring no one had noticed him, he continued his movement.

Surprisingly, the situation unfolded even more smoothly than Arthur anticipated. Perhaps no one had considered that two audacious individuals would dare to infiltrate such a place for a capture operation.

Therefore, despite appearances, the guards were quite lax. This was, after all, the rear area, and defenses wouldn't be as tight as on the front lines.

Precisely seven minutes later, Arthur was crouching on a rooftop of a building. Below him was a window belonging to Lindsay's office. Lying on the rooftop, he leaned down, peering through the window…

To be honest, during this action, Arthur felt a bit tense. He was afraid that when he leaned down, Lindsay might be standing at the window, creating an unexpectedly thrilling eye contact.

Fortunately, what Arthur worried about didn't happen. However, the scene inside the office exceeded his imagination!

"Gone!?"

Arthur was momentarily stunned. If Lindsay wasn't standing by the window, that would be acceptable, but he wasn't even in his room.

"Did I come here for nothing?"

Frowning, Arthur, still lying on the rooftop with his hands gripping the eaves, dazedly contemplated the situation…

In fact, he wouldn't be surprised by any developments in the office. Only the 'absence' of Lindsay left him perplexed.

Agent Carter's intelligence work should not have encountered any issues, so why was he not present?

Considering leaving but feeling reluctant to do so, Arthur made a decision after a couple of seconds!

Flipping over, he landed on the windowsill. Curling his body into a ball, he attempted to pull the window open but it didn't budge…

"As expected…"

Arthur felt it wouldn't be that simple. The window was locked!

Just when he was so certain, with a gentle push, the window opened!

Arthur frowned as he entered the office with a black expression. This damn window didn't open outward; it opened inward!

The office was quite spacious, not necessarily luxurious, but the decor was exquisite…

Arthur didn't plan to explore the office. He had come this far and needed to examine Lindsay's spider web traces.

In movies, scenes often depict characters sneaking into an office, rummaging through desks and cabinets, creating a sense of tension and excitement. Unfortunately, Arthur's rushed visit didn't include bringing a camera. Otherwise, he believed he would have become a qualified infiltrator!

Thinking about these movie scenarios, Arthur couldn't resist the temptation to imitate them. However, he needed to be cautious not to attract the attention of the guards outside the office.

Before he could make a move, a soft clicking sound came from the bookshelf—the sound of gears turning!

"A secret room!"

Excitement surged within Arthur. He had heard about these things but had never actually seen one.

The next second, he had rushed to the side of the bookshelf. At the same time, a whimsical idea popped into his mind. What if he held onto the door of the secret room and prevented it from opening? How much psychological shadow would it cast on the person inside?

Of course, this playful thought could only stay in his mind. At this moment, he couldn't afford to be reckless.

The bookshelf slowly opened towards both sides, and Arthur hid on one side. As the bookshelf fully opened, he was almost standing right next to it.

A person with measured footsteps walked out from the space behind the bookshelf. Arthur could discern it from the sound of footsteps and breathed a sigh of relief.

Glancing at the items on the bookshelf, Arthur picked up a baseball bat placed there with a smiling expression on his face.

The man in a suit had his entire back exposed to Arthur. Holding the baseball bat, Arthur gestured twice toward the back of his head before fiercely swinging the bat down.

"Bang!"

The sound was crisp. Arthur couldn't help but praise, "Nice Shot! Sounds satisfying!"

The struck man didn't immediately fall. Instead, he turned in place, looking at Arthur with a bewildered expression, and said, "It's you!"

Arthur was momentarily stunned, wondering, 'Who is this guy saying "it's you"? Do we know each other?'

Just as he was about to swing the bat again, the man crumpled to the ground with a dull thud.

Subconsciously, Arthur approached to strip off the clothes, tear some fabric strips, and bind him in a hogtie.

After finishing the job, Arthur couldn't help but admire his growing proficiency in these operations.

Taking out the photo Agent Carter had given him from his pocket, Arthur looked at the man's face, confirming his identity.

Relieved, he then pried open the man's mouth and examined his teeth.

Poisoned teeth were not meant to be too sturdy; otherwise, there would be an awkward situation if they didn't fall out immediately after exposure, but couldn't be easily removed, causing embarrassment.

Yet, they couldn't be too loose either. Otherwise, one might accidentally swallow them while eating, leading to an unexpected surprise during a meal.

With the right force, Arthur found himself holding the third tooth when a tooth came off effortlessly.

Pondering for a moment, he pocketed the tooth, thinking he would study it later to figure out what kind of poison it contained.

Then, he'd find someone to create an antidote. In the future, when capturing Hydra members, they could choose suicide without issues. If you're going to take poison, take yours. Once you've ingested it, I'll give you the antidote. Let's see if you despair or not!
