Marvel X The Boys

Chapter 4: Tower of Watchers

The Avengers Tower stood tall and gleaming against the Manhattan skyline, its sharp silhouette cutting through the early morning haze. Inside the conference room, the atmosphere was anything but serene.

"Two suns? Is this some kind of sick joke?" Tony Stark quipped, leaning back in his chair and nursing a mug of coffee. His voice was calm, but his narrowed eyes betrayed his unease.

"Not a joke," Natasha Romanoff replied, her tone clipped. She stood by the window, arms crossed, her sharp gaze locked on the horizon. "It's real."

Thor, seated at the end of the table, shifted uneasily, his usual bravado dampened. "Real... and wrong. The balance of the realms has been disturbed. I can feel it."

"Disturbed how?" Steve Rogers asked, leaning forward, elbows on the table. His voice carried the weight of authority, but even he sounded uncertain. "Are we talking Loki-wrong or end-of-the-world wrong?"

"Loki doesn't meddle with stars," Thor replied. "This is something far greater."

Bruce Banner frowned, his tablet in hand, scrolling through streams of data. "There's no precedent for this. It's like the fabric of reality is... unraveling."

The News Broadcast

Across the room, a wall-mounted screen flickered to life, displaying live footage of the two suns. The usual chatter of the tower grew silent as they watched.

On the screen, a news anchor struggled to maintain her composure.

"Reports are flooding in from around the globe of strange phenomena: gravitational fluctuations, unusual weather patterns, and, of course, the appearance of a second sun."

The camera shifted to footage of coastal flooding, then to a city where time-lapsed clouds twisted into unnatural shapes.

"What's causing this?" Clint Barton asked from the back of the room. He leaned against the wall, arms crossed. "Another alien invasion? Some big bad we haven't met yet?"

"If it is," Tony said, setting his coffee down, "they've got style. A second sun? Very dramatic."

Tension Among the Team

"Tony, this isn't the time for jokes," Steve snapped, his tone sharp.

"And what do you want me to do, Cap?" Tony shot back, spreading his arms. "Pull a rabbit out of my arc reactor? Until we know what we're dealing with, I'm just as in the dark as you are."

Natasha stepped in before the tension could escalate. "Let's focus. Thor, you said you could feel something. What is it?"

Thor hesitated, his fingers gripping the handle of Mjolnir. "It is... as if the threads of Yggdrasil—the World Tree—are fraying. The realms are colliding, folding into one another. Such an event should be impossible."

"Impossible's becoming a trend lately," Bruce muttered. He tapped on his tablet, pulling up a live map of the planet. "I've been tracking seismic activity. Whatever's causing this is affecting the entire globe. It's not localized."

"Global," Natasha echoed. "And growing."

A Glimpse of the Unknown

As they spoke, the lights in the tower flickered. A low hum resonated through the room, subtle but enough to make everyone glance around.

Clint moved toward the window, peering at the golden mist curling along the city streets below. "Does that look normal to anyone?"

"It's spreading," Natasha said, joining him.

Thor rose from his seat, his expression grim. "This is no mere mortal disaster. This is something greater, something that could consume all the realms."

Tony sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "So we're dealing with a cosmic-level threat. Great. Guess I'll call the Fantastic Four, see if they're free to help unravel reality."

"Or we figure it out ourselves," Steve said firmly. He stood, his presence commanding. "We've handled worse. Together, we can handle this too."

Thor nodded, his grip on Mjolnir tightening. "If it is a battle we face, then let us prepare."

The news broadcast shifted to live footage of the two suns, their glowing forms casting eerie shadows over the city. The golden mist thickened, its reach creeping closer to the tower.

"We need answers," Bruce said, glancing at Steve. "Fast."

"And we'll get them," Steve replied, his voice steady. "We're the Avengers. It's what we do."

As the team dispersed, each preparing in their own way, the screen flickered with static, the two suns remaining ominously in view.

Somewhere, deep in the city, a lone figure stood beneath the strange sky, watching the chaos unfold. The camera lingered on the back of the figure's head before the scene cut to black.
