Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 188: C136(1)

Regarding alchemy items, there are not many circulating in the wizarding world. Aside from those kept by the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic, most alchemy items are found among dark wizards.

However, most of these items are either fraudulent or designed to curse and harm others. It's difficult to find a genuinely useful alchemy item within the black market.

Even among dark wizards, anti-curse alchemy items are highly valuable. If they discover that Kain is willing to spend large amounts of Galleons on alchemy items, they will undoubtedly fabricate fake ones to scam him.

After leaving the potion materials store, Kain went to Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley. Among the purveyors of alchemy items, Borgin and Burkes still maintain some level of credibility.

If that weren't the case, Kain wouldn't have bothered with them.

"Defensive charms and some magical alchemy items? Sir, your request is rather unusual. I can't guarantee I'll be able to procure them," said Mr. Borgin cautiously.

Although a deal with Kain promised significant profits, Borgin knew better than to risk upsetting him—Kain had a reputation for killing dark wizards without hesitation.

"Then I'll leave it to you, Mr. Borgin. If the items are genuine, I won't be stingy with Galleons. But if they're fake…" Kain left the threat unspoken, but Borgin understood perfectly well.

After leaving Knockturn Alley, Kain hadn't managed to acquire anything for defense against curses. However, he did buy some intriguing items designed to curse others.

One was a book capable of recording the Imperius Curse. If Kain cast the curse on the book, anyone who opened it afterward would fall under its control.

Another item was designed to curse the soul, but it was so dangerous that Kain chose not to handle it directly, storing it instead in his enchanted space backpack.

These items, though risky, might prove useful in the future. With no shortage of Galleons, Kain didn't hesitate to purchase them.

If he wanted more advanced alchemy items, he would have to approach the Department of Mysteries or seek out master alchemists.

Unfortunately, rumors suggested that the Unspeakables were the most formidable wizards in the Ministry, far beyond what Kain could handle at the moment.

Meanwhile, Guy had opened a small potion shop in Diagon Alley. The business was modest, selling potions he and Hermione had brewed, along with a few purchased from other wizards for resale.

"It seems I'll have to visit Hogwarts and speak with Dumbledore. Hopefully, he can introduce me to some true alchemists," Kain mused.

He regretted that Nicolas Flamel had passed away too soon. If he had lived longer, Kain might have had the chance to learn alchemy directly from him.

Hogwarts was about to go on holiday in two days, but Dumbledore wasn't at the school. Due to Sirius Black's prison escape and the uncovering of truths from over a decade ago, Dumbledore had been busy lobbying members of the Wizengamot.

A few days earlier, he had even written to Kain, asking for the potion shop's influence in supporting him. Kain hadn't been available at the time, but he decided that if things became dire, he wouldn't sit idly by.

"Godfather!"

The holidays had arrived, and Hermione chose not to take the Hogwarts Express. Instead, Isaac apparated her home directly. She had been eager to return after receiving Kain's letter.

"Hermione, I didn't expect you to be back so soon," Kain said with a smile.

Kain set down the alchemy book he had been reading and smiled at Hermione. He hadn't expected her to appear so soon, let alone directly into the room.

"Godfather, where have you been this year? So much has happened at Hogwarts, even involving events from thirteen years ago. You wouldn't believe it—Ron has been sleeping with a middle-aged man in his arms for years!"

Hermione launched into one of her usual rapid-fire monologues, recounting everything in detail.

She went on for nearly half an hour before Kain handed her a cup of black tea. She paused briefly to take a sip, then continued without missing a beat.

"And another thing—your Animagus is the best godfather! Harry recently recognized Sirius as his godfather since he was his dad's friend, but Harry still has some regrets about Sirius' Animagus form."

Hermione looked at Kain expectantly, her thoughts practically written across her face. It was clear she was hinting at wanting to take a ride on his phoenix form.

However, Kain's Animagus was far too conspicuous, and he rarely used it unless absolutely necessary.

He changed the subject, brushing off Hermione's not-so-subtle hints. After all, what kind of goddaughter wanted to ride her godfather every day?

Meanwhile, Peter Pettigrew had been sent to the Ministry of Magic, where he was awaiting trial for his crimes. If all went as expected, Pettigrew would switch places with Sirius—he would go to Azkaban, and Sirius would be freed.

Pettigrew's capture had been pure bad luck. He happened to run into Hermione while she was being followed and protected by Isaac.

Kain had given Isaac and Phil, his house-elves, permission to practice attack magic, and they had grown so powerful that even two or three Aurors would struggle against them.

Peter, who hadn't used magic in over a decade, was no match. Isaac's magic sent him flying, leaving his arm mangled.

By the time Dumbledore brought Pettigrew to the Ministry, his injuries were still untreated—a detail Kain had read about in the Daily Prophet.
