Chapter 21: Chapter 20: Double Kill Triple Kill Overkill Killing Spree
I arrived in a room full of metal, dimly lit with an eerie glow, the air thick with tension. In the center of the room floated a strange ball of liquid—suspended in midair like some sci-fi anomaly. My eyes widened in recognition. "Oh cool, isn't that the floating water thingy that teleports people back from Mars to Earth in the Doom 2005 movie?"
Wait… Doom. As in zombies and monsters, those freaking hellish abominations?
"Oh god, I came to the wrong world."
Every survival instinct screamed at me to teleport the hell out of here, but my conscience gnawed at me. I couldn't just abandon this world to the 24th chromosome virus, allowing zombies and mutant monsters to overrun the base and, eventually, Earth itself. I could nip this problem in the bud right now.
Luckily, I packed my sonic screwdriver.
I placed it next to the teleporter, double-checking the setup before turning it on. The alien teleporter connected to a human made machine interface. I disabled the teleporter directly bypassing the interface so no one could turn it on unless they knew how to use the alien machine.
I grinned. "I'll keep this for later, it's too big to take back now but I can strip it for parts later"
With the teleporter disabled, nobody could return to Earth from this base without my help. That bought me time to deal with this nightmare. Stepping out into the hall, I saw bodies—scientists and guards, torn apart by claws and bullets. Looks like Sarge had already been through here, executing survivors after the monsters did their part.
I needed a map. Scanning the walls, I spotted one and quickly found my destination: the medical wing.
I sprinted down the halls, my Shaolin Dharma sword in hand. Guns were useful, but nothing beat a monomolecular blade for slicing through zombies like butter.
The first zombie lurched toward me, snarling, its rotten flesh barely holding together. I ducked beneath its grasp, pivoted on my foot, and sliced clean through its neck. The body dropped instantly, head rolling away.
Two more came at me. I vaulted off the wall, flipping over them and landing gracefully behind. Without hesitation, I spun in a deadly arc, my blade severing limbs and torsos in one fluid motion. They collapsed into a heap, twitching slightly before going still.
A grotesque mutant creature once a human, bulkier, larger, and faster than the others, roared as it barreled toward me. It wasn't even a human anymore it was a freaking demon now. I waited until the last second, then side-stepped, slashing its Achilles tendon. It collapsed, screeching. Before it could recover, I drove my sword through its skull.
"Next."
More zombies and demons came towards me, drawn by the commotion. I smirked. "Alright, let's dance."
After that, I burst into the medical wing, panting slightly, to find Samantha Grimm—the scientist—hovering over her brother, John Grimm, who lay strapped to a gurney, seconds away from being injected with the 24th chromosome.
"WAIT!" I shouted.
Samantha jerked up. "What the—Who are you?!"
"Do you have any more of that stuff?" I asked, eyeing the vials.
She hesitated. "Yeah… why?"
"Alright, this is a hold-up. I just completely disabled the teleporter back to Earth, so now you're all officially stuck here with me and the zombies and mutant creatures. But lucky for you, I can teleport from Mars to Earth and bring people back—one at a time (his new power limits). In exchange, I want all the data on the 24th chromosome, a hard drive with the mapped human genome, every piece of scientific knowledge stored in your database, and every sample you have of the 24th chromosome except the one you are using to save your brother."
Samantha looked at me like I had lost my mind. "Kid, people can't teleport." While she proceeds to inject John.
I smirked and, just to prove a point, teleported five feet to the left, then back. "See? I can teleport. Because I'm awesome, unlike you normies."
John groaned, waking up. After a brief explanation, he rubbed his temples. "We should at least give Sarge's team a chance."
I shook my head. "Nope. They systematically executed all the innocent people on this base, and Sarge is already infected. Best to leave them here."
I then asked. "Where is the BFG?"
Samantha pointed to the map. "Sector Z4."
"Sweet. Grab your gear—we're leaving."
With that, I teleported them to a sunny beach in Hawaii because, let's be honest, they deserved a vacation.
After another zombie-filled gauntlet, I finally reached the BFG's storage location—only to find it missing. It's no longer floating on the cool pedestal.
I sighed. "Of course, Sarge took it. Typical."
Finding a radio on a dead guard, I patched into the comms. "Hey, Sarge, where you at?"
Static, then a gruff response. "Who the hell is this?"
"Oh, just a survivor. Thought I'd let you know."
A pause. Then, "Where in sector H6 don't worry we'll save you son."
I grinned. "Good talk."
After heading to sector H6 I followed the sounds of gunfire, then I found Sarge and his last remaining soldier standing among the wreckage of bodies. His eyes were wild, infected yet still intelligent.
Sarge's gun trained on me. "You're not leaving here alive."
I teleported behind him. "Wrong."
In one swift motion I teleported behind his back, then I drove my monomolecular blade through him into his heart and sliced sideways, nearly cutting him in two.
"Assassination!" I yelled gleefully, mimicking the Halo games.
I turn and smile at the last soldier innocently.
The last soldier's eyes widened in horror. He turned and ran.
I teleported in front of him, and before he could stop, he ran himself straight onto my sword. I smirked as he slumped over, then pried the weapon from his chest and admired it. "Nice gun."
After that I looted Sarge's corpse and then the BFG—the Bio Force Gun or as literally everyone else calls it, the Big F*cking Gun. All the while saying "Zoink that's mine"
Glancing around at the carnage, I sighed. "Wish I could take the teleporter tech, but it's too bulky."
Looking at the remains of zombies, monsters, and humans alike, I dusted off my hands. "All in a day's work."
With my loot secured, I activated my teleportation ability and vanished back home, eager to share my spoils.
