Chapter 4: EPISODE 4 – “Claws in the Glass”
[COLD OPEN – FLASHBACK: A SCHOOL ROOFTOP – YEARS AGO]
Rain pours. A younger Rika kneels beside a wounded black cat, shielding it with her school blazer. Her eyes are hollow, tail trembling.
YOUNG RIKA
"…Why is it always me?"
A flash of thunder—reflections ripple across puddles. But no one is there to help her.
[INT. SHRINE BASE – NIGHT]
Rika stares into a broken piece of glass on the floor. Airi and Mei are sleeping nearby. Rika's tail twitches—agitated.
RIKA NEKOMIYA (internal)
"If I don't get stronger… I'll lose again."
She stands, zips up her gear, and slips out silently.
[EXT. ABANDONED DISTRICT – 2AM]
Rika sprints through ruined alleys, parkouring over collapsed signs and flickering lamp posts. Her claws scrape concrete as she pushes herself to maximum speed.
RIKA
"Come out, you witchy freak. I'm done hiding."
A mirror embedded in a vending machine cracks—responding to her voice.
[MIRROR REALM – NIGHTMARE ENTRY]
A vortex opens beneath her—pulling her in. She flips midair, lands on her feet in a warped mirror Tokyo—a version of the city where every surface reflects and nothing is real.
MORGAN LE FAY (echoing)
"Rika Nekomiya. You run so fast, yet never escape your shadow…"
[MIRROR TOKYO – BATTLE BEGINS]
A swarm of glass beasts rise — reflective wolves with Rika's old school crest on their backs.
RIKA
"Yeah? I'm not scared of memory mutts."
She bursts forward, claws glowing. A flurry of kicks and swipes follow — her combat speed artfully animated in smears and motion lines.
She zig-zags, leaving behind blurred shadows.
She knocks a beast skyward, teleports midair, then spin-kicks it into shards.
RIKA
"Come on, Morgan! Show me the real you!"
[TRAP SEQUENCE – EMOTIONAL BREAKPOINT]
Morgan floats in, hovering on a curved glass shard like a throne.
MORGAN
"Very well. Let's see how the stray kitten handles the past."
She waves a hand. The sky breaks—revealing a scene from Rika's past:
A girl is shoved by classmates. Her ears and tail exposed.
BULLY 1
"Freak! What kind of hybrid even are you?"
YOUNG RIKA (crying)
"I didn't choose this…"
*Adult Rika lunges forward, slicing at the illusion—but her claws pass through. The words still hurt.
[MIRROR RIKA APPEARS – HER DOUBT MANIFESTED]
A mirrored version of Rika drops from above — sleeker, elegant, with golden armor and a cruel smirk.
MIRROR RIKA
"I'm what you could be if you stopped caring. No guilt. No holding back. Just claws and kill."
RIKA
"…You're not me."
MIRROR RIKA (laughs)
"But I am. I'm the version that didn't need friends."
[BATTLE – RIKA VS. MIRROR RIKA]
Fast-paced, vicious, feral. The arena reflects every movement, and each attack bounces light like a kaleidoscope.
Mirror Rika teleports in unpredictable zigzags.
Real Rika starts falling behind—biting her lip, bleeding.
[TURNING POINT – FRIENDSHIP ECHO]
Back in the shrine, Mei stirs. She senses the battle.
MEI (groggy)
"…Rika's not here."
AIRI (eyes glowing)
"I felt the rift. Get ready."
[CLIMAX – RIKA'S RESOLVE]
Mirror Rika pins her to the ground.
MIRROR RIKA
"Admit it. You're better off alone."
Rika closes her eyes. Then… thinks of Mei's dumb jokes. Airi's quiet lectures. The shrine. The laughter.
RIKA (grins despite the pain)
"You forgot something."
RIKA (gritting her teeth)
"I may run alone. But I never fight alone."
She slams her claws into the ground. A pulse of white erupts—her claws shift, glowing with a new seal-inscribed energy.
✨ NEW MOVE: "STRAY BLOOM STRIKE" ✨
She dashes in a crisscross pattern, forming a claw sigil in the air before slamming through Mirror Rika with a piercing lunge.
The doppelgänger cracks—explodes into petals of glass.
[AFTERMATH – SHRINE BASE]
Mei and Airi teleport in, landing beside her as Rika collapses—exhausted.
MEI (panting)
"Stupid cat… Don't leave without saying goodbye."
AIRI
"You forced an emergency sigil. That could've shattered your soul."
RIKA (chuckling softly)
"…But it didn't."
[POST-CREDIT SCENE – MORGAN'S REALM]
Morgan stands before a mirror altar. Behind her: hundreds of floating fragments of Tokyo citizens, their faces blank.
MORGAN (softly)
"One petal bloomed. But the rest… will wilt soon enough."
