Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Escaping from Danger
"They still have backup. Ravion, deal with the Caliban Ape so we can escape quickly," John urged after extracting critical information from the enemy's mind.
"Huh? They can read minds? Take them down!"
Thor Ape growled, realizing the danger. The ape warlord's strength, bolstered by his primal instincts, exceeded expectations. He felt Ravion attempting to invade his consciousness.
"Iron Mandrill, shield my mind!"
Iron Mandrill instructed his AI companion, Ape Weiss, to generate a protective force field around his brain. Simultaneously, he launched a barrage of small rockets toward Ravion.
Ape Weiss analyzed aloud, "Sir, their powers appear to mimic mutant abilities. It's extraordinary how inorganic mechanics simulate gene-based abilities."
"Interesting... Could his teleportation be derived from the Red Demon Ape's tech? Ape Weiss, can we replicate his systems?"
The AI responded after a brief pause. "Apologies, sir. The opponent's mechanics surpass my understanding. Data extraction is not possible."
"Then let's destroy him!" Iron Mandrill snapped.
In under a minute, Ravion was riddled with injuries. Thor Ape's attacks with Mjolnir were unrelenting, each strike devastating. Balancing the defense of Reina and John with evading firepower from the War Machine Ape and Falcon Ape, Ravion was clearly at a disadvantage.
Amidst the chaos, Caliban Ape rushed toward Ravion, sensing an opportunity.
"Ravion, now's your chance!" John shouted.
Ravion suddenly shifted tactics. Abandoning his defensive stance, he unleashed a burst of laser vision to push Thor Ape back. Ice crystals formed in his hands as he froze Caliban Ape mid-stride, smashing him into icy fragments with a powerful punch.
The Falcon Ape and War Machine Ape, both momentarily stunned, turned their weapons on Iron Mandrill. Falcon Ape's shield strike caught Iron Mandrill off guard, and War Machine Ape's projectile—nicknamed the "Ex-Wife"—sent him sprawling.
"Oh no... what just happened?" the two apes muttered in confusion.
"Sorry, no time for explanations!"
Ravion seized the moment, summoning a bolt of lightning that reduced both apes to charred remnants.
Unbeknownst to the apes, John had manipulated their minds. Though his psychic prowess was immense, his infant body couldn't handle the strain. Exhausted, he collapsed into unconsciousness.
"Reina, we need to leave—now!" Ravion moved to grab Reina's hand, ready to teleport them away. But just as he reached her, Thor Ape hurled Mjolnir with lethal precision.
"Clang!"
The hammer struck Ravion, sending him flying. Despite the blow, he instinctively caught the hammer mid-air.
"What? That's impossible! Mjolnir?"
The sight left Iron Mandrill and Thor Ape dumbfounded. How could Ravion, unworthy by their standards, wield the enchanted hammer?
Ravion wasted no time pondering. With immense force, he hurled Mjolnir back at Thor Ape. The impact pushed the ape warlord backward, giving Ravion the opening to teleport behind Reina. In a flash, they vanished.
"Ahhhh! Useless fools!" Thor Ape bellowed, venting his frustration on the remaining Falcon Ape and War Machine Ape, reducing them to ash with his thunderous wrath.
Iron Mandrill, having dodged the carnage, quietly thanked his luck. Thor Ape's monstrous strength, amplified by his primal nature, rivaled even the Green Giant Ape.
Elsewhere, amidst the desolate void, a peculiar figure emerged.
"Uh... did I come at the wrong time?"
A woman clad in a tight red leather outfit stood confidently, blonde hair cascading in waves. Holsters on her hips carried dual pistols, and twin swords were strapped to her back.
Thor Ape snarled, charging toward her. Without a word, he grabbed her head and twisted it clean off.
"Oh, come on, really?" the severed head complained as Thor Ape examined it with disgust.
"Gross," he muttered, tossing the head aside.
"Wait, wait—don't you want to get to know me first?" the disembodied head quipped.
Unamused, Thor Ape stomped off. But as Iron Mandrill prepared to follow, he froze. The headless body of the woman—none other than the female Deadpool—staggered upright, retrieving her head.
"Oh, no way you're getting away with that!" Deadpool growled as she reattached her head. "Nobody decapitates me and lives to brag about it!"
The chaos resumed as she charged at Iron Mandrill with a vengeance.
Far from the battle, Reina sat on the rusted shell of an abandoned car, gazing into the bleak horizon.
She was used to solitude, having been rejected by multiple foster families. Her life of petty theft offered little solace, but it had taught her resilience.
"Maria, Monica... I miss you so much," she murmured, recalling the kind-hearted woman and her daughter who once took her in briefly.
Ravion approached, cradling John in his arms. "Don't lose hope. We'll find a way out of this."
The young thief looked at him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Do you really think so?"
Ravion raised a hand toward the horizon, using his psychic abilities to simulate a sunrise. A warm, golden light spread across the barren landscape, filling the air with a sense of peace.
Reina blinked, a smile forming on her lips. "Ravion, it's evening. The sun doesn't rise in the west."
"There's no time in the void," John interjected weakly, regaining consciousness. "From now on, we'll call this morning."
Reina laughed, gripping Ravion's arm. For the first time in ages, she felt a flicker of hope.
