Marvel: The Tokyo Avengers

Chapter 21: EPISODE 21: “Ghost Pulse”

💀 "Not all who vanish are forgotten… some just wait for the city to breathe again."

🌫️ [Scene 1 – Rooftop of Break Academy, Late Night]

The full moon hangs low over Tokyo. Still, silent. Too silent.

Kuro Ōkami sits at the edge of the roof, claws twitching, eyes dimmed.

Below, the city moves — but something is wrong. Shadows stretch too far. Neon signs flicker in rhythmic pulses.

SCARLET ONNA (approaching):

"You're quiet."

KURO ŌKAMI:

"I died, Sayo."

SCARLET ONNA:

"I know."

KURO ŌKAMI (gaze distant):

"I remember nothing. Not even the pain. Just… a sound. Like breathing. But not mine."

Scarlet Onna threads a protective seal between her fingers, weaving slowly.

SCARLET ONNA:

"Then it wasn't your soul that screamed back into this world. It was Tokyo's."

🌀 [Scene 2 – Shibuya Underground Station]

The platform is deserted.

Lights buzz, vending machines short-circuit. A train arrives… empty.

Then a sound:

A pulse. Like a heartbeat. Echoing from the tracks.

A young commuter walks by and suddenly stops — paralyzed.

His eyes flicker… then vanish, leaving hollow sockets filled with glowing glitch marks.

??? (in a distorted whisper):

"You looked at the pulse too long…"

He collapses. And disappears.

🕸️ [Scene 3 – Break Academy Emergency Briefing Room]

ONMYO FLARE (projecting sigil data):

"Multiple memory fractures across the city. No magical residue. No digital code. Just… void."

STARWAVE:

"Wait—so people are vanishing again?"

SCARLET ONNA:

"No. They're being soft-erased. Like what Kujaku tried to do… but rougher. Cruder."

KURO ŌKAMI (serious):

"Then this isn't Kujaku."

ONMYO FLARE:

"No. This is something worse. Something using the breach Kujaku left."

The pulse returns again — this time reaching Break Academy. Lights flicker. Mirrors crack. A single word appears on every screen:

RETRACE

⚠️ [Scene 4 – Civilian Sweep Mission: Akihabara]

The Tokyo Avengers split into formation. They patrol a nearly empty Akihabara — normally buzzing, now eerily quiet.

STARWAVE (mic activating):

"Okay, Tokyo! We're bringing the noise back—c'mon, ghosts! Let's dance!"

She performs a short rhythm set — soundwaves pulse through the streets, restoring power lines and flickering signs.

But then — from the shattered glass of an arcade — ghostlike figures emerge, twitching with static.

They look like civilians… but they're not.

Their faces are blurred. Their voices repeat phrases in broken loops:

"Did you forget me?"

"I had a name."

"Why don't you look at me?"

SCARLET ONNA:

"Phantom residuals. Souls left in the breach when Kujaku's ritual collapsed."

ONMYO FLARE:

"They're not attacking. They're echoing."

KURO ŌKAMI:

"Then we help them move on."

🗡️ [Scene 5 – Ghost Pulse Battle: Team vs. Echoed Wraiths]

The wraiths begin to glitch. Their hands morph into blades of forgotten identity — fractured umbrellas, broken pencils, empty keys.

Suddenly, one lunges at Starwave.

STARWAVE (dodging mid-spin):

"You had one chance to hurt a pop star. And you blew it."

She flips and fires a rhythmic shock-kick, dispersing the ghost in a burst of sonic petals.

SCARLET ONNA whips her threads into a barrier, capturing a group of echoes and weaving them into a cage of silk.

SCARLET ONNA:

"Stay still. Let the memory return."

ONMYO FLARE summons dual charm sigils, launching an exorcism spiral across the street. It purifies the phantom data — several echoes cry out and vanish peacefully.

KURO ŌKAMI (beast surge active):

"COME OUT, REAL ONE!"

He howls — drawing in every echo. One of them reacts violently — shifting into a twisted wolf-shadow, a corrupted reflection of Kuro himself.

It rushes.

They clash.

Claw vs. Claw.

Memory vs. Void.

In a final strike, Kuro slashes through the corrupted shade — and sees, in its dissolving body, his old self reflected.

He growls softly.

🧩 [Scene 6 – Identity Signature: Retrace Protocol]

The last echo drops a broken pendant onto the street.

ONMYO FLARE (picking it up):

"It's not just random souls. These are targets. All former Alterborn. All forgotten by the public."

A low beep begins to echo through the city.

A voice — mechanical, calm — filters in through every screen and speaker in Tokyo.

"Retrace Protocol: Phase Two Activated."

"Memory cleanup initiated. Soul redundancies to be purged."

"Sovereign 'Null' confirms trace signature."

SCARLET ONNA (eyes wide):

"Null… isn't gone."

STARWAVE:

"No. He just evolved."

🌕 [Final Scene – Tokyo Tower Flickers]

The camera pans upward.

Tokyo Tower — long a symbol of light — flickers with corrupted sigils. Binary sutras spiral along its antenna. And at the very top… a figure stands in a long coat.

No face. Only a mask of static.

NULL (reconstructed):

"Phase Two… begins with their names."

A list of the Tokyo Avengers appears behind him, one by one… then begins deleting.

🎴 [END CARD – TOKYO AVENGERS]

EPISODE 21: "Ghost Pulse" — END

🔮 Next: Episode 22 — "Retrace Protocol"

Null has returned — no longer as a digital ghost, but as a remnant forged from memory and code. And this time, he's not erasing data… he's erasing identities.
