Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Wanted Criminals in Hell and Heaven
With Mephisto as his reluctant guide, Jason systematically visited the territories of the remaining five lords of hell.
Unfortunately, only two of them had used spatial abilities to conceal their thrones. As for the other three, nobody—not even Mephisto—could determine how they'd managed to hide their seats of power.
Even with this limitation, Jason had successfully integrated the domains of the four most powerful lords of hell into his growing empire. Overnight, he had transformed himself into the dominant King of Hell.
Without wasting time, he immediately ordered Mephisto to commence the campaign to unify all of Hell under his rule.
His primary mission was straightforward but ambitious: use Jason's second portal to the God Domain to capture every single demon from the territories of the three remaining lords and relocate them to Jason's divine realm.
After all, who could blame Jason for taking advantage while their lords were away?
No matter how stubborn or loyal a demon might initially be, once they arrived in Jason's God Domain, they inevitably became his fanatical followers!
After arranging these operations, Jason returned to the Avengers base on Earth.
Though the Ancient One's defensive array had successfully sealed off Earth from other dimensions, such barriers presented minimal challenge to someone who had mastered space manipulation at Jason's level. He bypassed the protective spells with laughable ease.
What he hadn't anticipated was that the moment he materialized inside the base, a circular portal of golden sparks flashed before him, and the Ancient One herself stepped through.
She studied him with an unsettlingly perceptive gaze before finally asking, "What exactly have you done?"
Jason smiled innocently. "I haven't done anything special—just took a little trip. Something you wanted to discuss with me, Master?"
"Why can't I sense your presence?" she questioned, her eyes narrowing. "You're clearly standing right in front of me, and yet..."
Jason shrugged casually. As the most powerful lord in hell, his aura inevitably carried traces of infernal energy. To avoid complications, he'd established multiple layers of thin spatial barriers around his body.
While he appeared perfectly normal to casual observers, he actually existed slightly out of phase with ordinary time and space, hidden behind multi-dimensional shields. Even skilled opponents would struggle to locate his true form, let alone damage it. His actual presence and energy signature were virtually undetectable.
It made perfect sense that even the Ancient One couldn't immediately penetrate his defenses.
Seeing that Jason had no intention of elaborating, the Ancient One changed tactics. "Did you visit Hell again?"
Jason nodded without hesitation. "Yeah, I did. These hell lords think they can waltz into the human world whenever they feel like it, but I can't go down to Hell? Give me a break!"
His voice took on an edge of genuine irritation. "These arrogant bastards think they can invade Earth whenever they want, but when they decide to attack Heaven, they have to pass through our world first? The sheer nerve of these guys! They completely disregard me—the savior of this world—so of course I had to teach them a lesson."
He leaned forward, eyes flashing with dangerous intensity. "And it wasn't just a lesson. I wanted them to understand that from now on, I make the rules on Earth! They think they can come and go as they please? Bullshit! Next time something like this happens, I won't be so fucking polite. Anyone who dares stick their claws where they don't belong gets obliterated! I don't care if they're hell lords or dimensional demons—this is MY territory, and they'll follow MY rules!"
His words radiated such domineering power that the Ancient One's chest actually heaved, her composure visibly rattled.
Goddammit, she thought. The audacity of this man!
He calls himself the savior of the world with no regard for her centuries of service? Had her hundreds of years protecting Earth meant nothing? When had he become so terrifyingly powerful? And more importantly, did he genuinely possess the capability to back up such bold claims?
Jason caught her expression and raised an eyebrow. "Master, is this why you came to see me? Since when did you start taking Hell so seriously?"
The Ancient One rolled her eyes. "What exactly did you do in Hell, Jason?"
He waved dismissively. "Just the usual—killed some demons, grabbed some treasures. Nothing special. I actually planned to catch a few succubi to create a little paradise on Earth," he added with a smirk, "but unfortunately, they were disappointing. The women from Hell have these thick legs—dark black, not that attractive reddish color, more like purple with hints of sickly green. Boring as hell, if you'll excuse the pun. So I came back empty-handed. Any other questions?"
Jason maintained a serious expression throughout this ridiculous explanation. He wasn't sure about the Ancient One's stance regarding Hell's lords. While he wasn't afraid of her, there was no benefit in creating unnecessary conflict.
She possessed the Time Stone, after all. If she decided to make trouble, it would require significant effort to deal with her. Besides, she was already dying—why burden her with these complications? Better to let her complete her final journey in peace.
The Ancient One shook her head. "If that's truly all, then there's no issue. I simply heard rumors of something earth-shattering happening in Hell, so I was concerned for your safety."
"Ha! I appreciate your thoughtfulness, Master. As you can see, I'm perfectly fine!"
The Ancient One regained her characteristic serenity. "Very well. Since you appear unharmed, I'm relieved. It seems the individual that both Heaven and Hell are frantically searching for isn't you after all."
She turned to leave with those cryptic words.
"Hold on!" Jason called after her. "Who exactly are these Hell Lords looking for? Those plucked chickens actually have the nerve to hunt someone down? And why is Heaven involved? Isn't this the perfect opportunity for them to slam the door and trap the demons?"
The Ancient One turned back, fixing him with an enigmatic smile.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Jason pressed. "Yes, I've been to Hell, but that doesn't mean I know everything that's happening! Tell me what's going on—maybe I can help track down whoever they're searching for!"
She shook her head. "Since you're familiar with Hell's situation, I won't elaborate unnecessarily. After the Hell Lords' retreat was mysteriously cut off, they temporarily negotiated a truce with Heaven. They're now working together to find a way to bring Hell's armies back to their realm."
Her eyes glinted with intrigue. "This news has spread beyond just our awareness—they've contacted mages and demons across multiple dimensions. The offer stands for anyone who can help their forces return to Hell. The rewards promised are... substantial."
"That's fucking ridiculous!" Jason exploded. "These spineless cowards in Heaven are actually cooperating with Hell Lords? Are they worthy of being called angels? They're nothing but Hell's lapdogs!"
The Ancient One's lips curled into a knowing sneer. "Do you understand why they're willing to cooperate with the Lords of Hell?"
Jason paused, momentarily stunned. "Could it be that after the old man God disappeared, all these angels quietly fell from grace? I've been wondering why there are so many disasters in the world that they don't bother fixing. They're just sitting on their asses all day!"
The Ancient One shook her head. "After God vanished, Heaven certainly became more... complacent. But under the management of several proxy Gods, they've maintained their essential purity. The real problem is that someone deliberately cut off the Hell Army's escape route."
Jason raised his eyebrows in mock surprise. "Cutting off their retreat? Trapping them like rats? Isn't that actually a good thing? Shouldn't Heaven's forces be taking this golden opportunity to wipe out Hell's army in one decisive strike?"
"Ha!" The Ancient One's laugh was sharp and humorless. "Heaven lacks the power to destroy them completely. Initially, with the sacrifices of several archangels—Gabriel, Raphael, and others—the tide of battle had indeed shifted in Heaven's favor. Hell's forces were gradually losing ground, their defeat becoming inevitable. Heaven could have won this war, albeit at terrible cost, if they'd simply driven the demons back to Hell."
Her expression darkened. "But just as the Hell Lords were preparing to evacuate through their portal, they discovered that the teleportation array had been unilaterally destroyed!"
Jason's eyes widened in feigned shock. So that was how it had played out! Fortunately, he had acted quickly—if the lords had returned to Hell, they would have caught him red-handed.
"The Hell Lords, finding their retreat cut off, naturally assumed Heaven was responsible," the Ancient One continued. "Faced with apparent annihilation, they unleashed their full might. With no escape route, Hell's army launched a devastating counterattack!"
