Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Aren’t You Scared?
"Yes, a wizard."
Noah nodded, then turned to the couple, who were still in shock at seeing their daughter fully recover. Without hesitation, he raised his wand and cast another spell.
"Obliviate."
A soft glow surrounded them as Noah's magic took effect. Their expressions briefly turned vacant, but soon after, they snapped back to reality—still hugging their daughter with tearful joy, completely unaware of what had just happened.
It took a while before the girl's father finally regained his composure.
"Thank you so much for your help, Mr. Constantine. We'll pay whatever fee you require—if it weren't for you…"
His voice wavered with emotion, his eyes already red with unshed tears. He didn't notice Constantine's tense expression at all.
Constantine, silent for a moment, eventually nodded. When the girl's father turned to look at Noah, however, the young wizard had already put away his wand, showing no interest in further conversation.
With the matter resolved, they left the building to the farewells of the remaining onlookers, piling into Chase's taxi.
As they drove off, Constantine suddenly threw the thick stack of cash—given to him by the girl's father—toward Noah and Ms. Haifin.
"What's this supposed to mean?" Noah raised an eyebrow.
"You think I need your charity?" he added, hearing Constantine's tone.
"Watch your tone. This isn't charity—it's just a way to avoid trouble. Not that it matters. My trouble's already coming."
Constantine smirked but didn't argue.
"Oh? What kind of trouble?"
"Wizards who are still in school aren't allowed to use magic outside their academy—especially in front of Muggles. Sorry, but even though you guys are exorcists, and I used a Memory Charm on the parents, I was already on the Ministry of Magic's radar the moment I came here."
Noah explained casually. Though he was surprised the American Aurors hadn't already shown up, he wasn't particularly concerned.
He had too many problems to deal with anyway. What was one more?
Besides, technically speaking, he was an illegal immigrant in magical terms.
"Trouble? What kind of trouble? And… what's a Muggle?" Ms. Haifin asked, still staring at Noah as if he had grown a second head.
God help her—was this really the same boy she had watched grow up?
A wizard? A real wizard?
If she had heard this before tonight, she would've laughed it off. But after witnessing a demon possession and Noah casting magic before her eyes, there was no room left for doubt.
"How should I put it… First off, we're British citizens, which means we need the proper magical documentation for international travel."
"Didn't we already apply for passports?"
"Yeah, Muggle passports," Noah corrected. "Sorry, in the wizarding world, non-magical people are called 'Muggles.' And in our world, there's a governing body called the Ministry of Magic. Wizards like me need to apply for a magical passport as well. Also, since I'm a student, I'm not allowed to use magic outside school without permission."
"My God. Why didn't you say this earlier?"
Although Noah's explanation was straightforward, Ms. Haifin grasped the gravity of it immediately.
Not only was Noah involved in some kind of magical smuggling, but he had also blatantly violated his own government's laws!
She wanted to ask why he had done something so reckless, but then the answer hit her.
Despite his introverted nature, Noah had always struggled to say no to her. And today…
It was only after she had insisted that Noah had followed her. It was only after she had spoken that he had chosen to intervene.
A wave of guilt settled in her chest.
Meanwhile, Noah seemed completely unbothered, casually flipping through the thick stack of cash Constantine had tossed at him.
After a quick count, he let out a low whistle.
"I didn't expect exorcists to make this much money. Five hundred dollars for dealing with a second-rate demon? Honestly, I might consider taking up private exorcism gigs here."
"No!"
Noah had barely finished speaking before Ms. Haifin immediately shot down the idea.
Her expression was tense, her voice leaving zero room for argument.
"You're still in school. If you need money, just tell me—I'll help you."
"Relax, I was just thinking about it. Besides, stuff like this happens all the time in the UK too. It's not dangerous at all."
"I said no! Don't bring it up again!"
"Okay, okay…"
Noah shrugged, looking like he had given up, but in truth, his mind was still turning.
Because honestly?
He had never realized exorcism could be so damn profitable.
That demon was weaker than some of the magical creatures he had encountered in the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts.
Across from him, Constantine remained silent, but his expression darkened slightly.
Because if Noah did start taking exorcism jobs, he would be a serious threat to professional exorcists.
Let's be real—compared to wizards, exorcists were… limited. If this kid started stealing their contracts, it could very well put some of them out of work.
The atmosphere in the taxi grew quiet. Eventually, Chase pulled up in front of their hotel, breaking the silence.
Before they got out, he turned back to them.
"Hey, do you guys mind exchanging numbers? Also, don't worry about the fare—this ride's on me."
Ms. Haifin, however, rejected the offer outright.
Chase looked a little disappointed, but he didn't push the matter.
After they exited the cab, Ms. Haifin walked straight past her own room and followed Noah into his.
She had too many questions.
The moment they stepped inside, she closed the door and crossed her arms.
"Alright, little wizard—what else are you hiding from me?"
Noah raised an eyebrow.
"What do you want to know? Ask away."
"When did you find out you were a wizard?"
"The day an owl showed up at my window with my Hogwarts acceptance letter. After that, I went to buy all the necessary school supplies on my own. Honestly, I was pretty confused at first."
That part was true. When he first received the letter, he had been completely dumbfounded. He had never expected to have magic, let alone be invited to a school for wizards.
"An owl? Acceptance letter? Bloody hell—Hogwarts is a real magic school?"
"Yep. And it has four Houses. I'm in Ravenclaw."
"Ravenclaw?"
"Mhm. Ravenclaw House values intelligence, wisdom, and creativity. They choose students who are naturally curious and dedicated to their studies. Oh, and our motto is 'Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.'"
Noah briefly explained more about Hogwarts, his House, and his experiences there.
Ms. Haifin listened, completely fascinated.
By the time he finished, she felt a mix of amazement, excitement, and a whole lot of concern.
"You're telling me all this… Is it allowed? Do you need to cast that memory-wiping spell on me too?"
"Nah. The Ministry of Magic allows wizards to share information with their close family members."
Noah shook his head. This was the least of his worries.
He had bigger problems.
"But seriously… I'm a wizard. Aren't you scared?"
Ms. Haifin blinked, then burst into laughter.
"Scared? No! Hell no! This is amazing! Do you have any idea how excited I am? A real wizard! Right in front of me!"
Noah smirked.
"Good to know."
