Marvel: Superman Strength in a World of Heroes

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: An Inconvenient Reward, and Carl Gets Kicked Out

After dinner, Carl and Skye strolled leisurely back home.

Once they arrived at Skye's place,

Carl once again got to appreciate the finer qualities of the Superwoman battle suit.

However…

It was probably due for a good wash.

Because, well… yeah.

But once it's washed, doesn't it kind of lose its charm?

Midnight.

Skye collapsed the moment she hit the bed, not even bothering to clean up.

She was completely exhausted.

Carl, on the other hand, had trained his body since youth, mastering all kinds of combat techniques.

After all, this was the Marvel Universe,

A world full of superheroes, and just as many supervillains.

Even when he'd still been just an ordinary man,

He'd figured that knowing how to fight might be the difference between life and death in a crisis.

Who could've imagined?

In all those twenty-five years, he'd never actually needed to fight anyone.

The body he'd trained so hard…

Had ended up being more useful in other areas.

Even when he had just a few girlfriends,

Skye could barely keep up before.

Now that he had the Silver Superman template?

She was completely outmatched.

Just then, the familiar chime of the system rang out.

Carl didn't hesitate.

『God of Mankind』: [Sign in]

[Ding! Sign-in successful. Reward: Catwoman's Stealth Suit]

『God of Mankind』: Catwoman?

Carl blinked, a bit surprised.

For a moment, he wasn't sure which Catwoman the system meant.

A superhero? A thief?

But as the prompt completed,

A few articles of clothing materialized before him.

Without thinking, he picked them up.

This time, the outfit was fairly minimal:

A sleek black bodysuit and a pair of matching goggles.

Both made of leather, by the looks of it.

『God of Mankind』: Oh… that Catwoman.

Carl instantly recognized the design.

Selina Kyle's iconic suit from The Dark Knight Rises.

Hmm… very stylish.

Carl's expression softened into an innocent smile.

Perfect.

Now he could finally give the Superwoman suit a much-needed wash.

Setting the Catwoman suit aside, he happily freshened up,

And went straight to bed.

The Next Day

Carl got to personally test out the Catwoman suit's… advantages.

Honestly?

It was stunning.

The style was completely different from Superwoman's.

Where hers was powerful and commanding,

This one was sleek, elegant,

Sensual.

The only issue?

It wasn't very practical.

Carl had to make a few manual adjustments to the design.

But once modified,

It worked great.

The Third Day

Carl received Wonder Woman's armor as his sign-in reward.

And on the Fourth Day,

[Ding! Sign-in successful. Reward: The Flash's Combat Suit]

But this time,

He didn't gift them to Skye.

They were obviously built for men.

Carl wasn't particularly interested in wearing them himself either.

So he simply tossed them into storage.

To be honest, the Flash's look…

Really wasn't his style.

And it was on that exact day,

That Skye finally couldn't take it anymore, and shoved Carl out the door.

『Skye』: Hey, Carl. Shouldn't you go home? Don't you have other girlfriends waiting for you? Go hang out with them or something.

She'd clearly had enough,

And promptly kicked Carl out.

She just couldn't keep up anymore.

Multiple rounds a day… It was way too much.

『God of Mankind』: …Alright.

Carl looked at the door that had just been slammed in his face.

He chuckled and shrugged.

If he really wanted to, a regular human like Skye couldn't have moved him an inch.

But he didn't resist.

He simply smiled and said,

『God of Mankind』: Okay then. I'll come back to visit in a few days.

『Skye』 (from behind the door): Fine… Just let me get some sleep, okay?

Carl peeked through the cracked door

And saw her slump back onto the bed, half-asleep.

He grinned,

And vanished in the blink of an eye.

In an instant, he reappeared at his own home.

Straight to the bathroom for a shower.

Skye had kicked him out early in the morning,

Before he'd even had a chance to wash his face.

Honestly?

Carl thought that was a bit harsh.

You tell me to go home, and I just have to go?

No time to brush my teeth, no breakfast?

You couldn't even let me have one proper meal?

Carl made up his mind,

He was going to teach Skye a proper lesson next time.

Meanwhile, at a Cafe…

Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, sat at a street-side café with a colleague, quietly sipping coffee.

『Colleague』: Matt, seriously. You should think about representing the rich every now and then. It's not about guilt or innocence, it's about getting paid.

『Matt Murdock』: No way.

As Daredevil, he stood for justice.

His colleague gave a long sigh and let it go.

Matt returned to sipping his coffee.

But his thoughts drifted elsewhere.

He kept remembering that mysterious man from a few days ago.

The one who'd effortlessly wiped out Kingpin's men…

And even blackmailed Kingpin himself.

Even though Matt couldn't see the man,

His heightened senses told him everything he needed to know.

That guy,

Was dangerous.

Whether it was that strange thermal energy radiating off him, or his sheer brute strength…

Daredevil had felt it firsthand.

He'd been sent flying,

And barely managed to crawl out of the bay afterward.

At first, he couldn't even move.

It took hours before he could drag himself to the hospital.

Then several days of bed rest just to recover.

And remember,

Matt Murdock was no ordinary man.

He could hear heartbeats from kilometers away.

His radar-like perception allowed him to "see" the world in astonishing detail.

And physically, he far surpassed the average human:

Strength, speed, endurance, he had it all.

Yet even with all that,

He'd been completely wrecked by Carl.

The worst injury of his career.

No exaggeration.

Thankfully, his recovery abilities were also well above average.

He was finally back to normal.

Though high-intensity fighting was still out of the question for now.

What he didn't know…

Was that Carl hadn't even tried to kill him.

If he had,

Daredevil would've ended up the same as those demonspawn from the King's World.

Just then, Matt caught the scent of something sweet.

A stunning brunette walked into the café.

Graceful figure. Elegant features. Quiet presence.

She took a seat in the corner, ordered a drink, and waited calmly.

There was a refined dignity about her.

Matt paused for a moment.

Then picked up his cane and walked over.

The woman didn't react at first.

But when she realized he was blind, her expression softened.

They chatted casually for a bit.

Then she glanced at her watch.

『Elegant Woman』: I have to go. Something urgent just came up.

With that, she stood and left the café.

Matt was still smiling, amused by their pleasant exchange.

『Matt Murdock』: …Damn. I forgot to ask her name.

He quickly got up and followed her out.

But when the woman turned and saw him trailing behind,

She assumed he was some kind of creep.

The next moment,

She came at him swinging.

Back at Carl's Place

Clean and refreshed, belly full from breakfast, Carl sprawled lazily on the couch, a drink in hand.

『God of Mankind』: So boring…

Without Skye around,

There was no one to test his new battle suits with.

Maybe he should stop by his bar?

But it was still early. The place wasn't even open yet.

Hmm…

Might as well check in on the other girlfriends.

With that thought,

Carl activated his enhanced vision,

And began scanning the city.

A few seconds later,

He locked onto a familiar brunette.

At that very moment,

She was mid-battle with a man in sunglasses.
