Chapter 110: CHAPTER 110
The Information Provided by Rocket Raccoon Confuses Star-Lord
What Happened Behind Them?
Star-Lord abruptly stopped the spaceship and even turned it around, looking behind him.
Rocket Raccoon was right. Behind them, a dozen space pirate ships were exploding in succession, each one turning into cosmic debris within seconds.
Not far from Star-Lord's spaceship, a man with gray hair, a beard, a gray suit, and a scarf stood in the vacuum of space.
The reason those space pirate ships had exploded one after another was because of him—he had simply waved his hand.
This man was not Rhodes.
Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon stared, mouths wide open, unable to believe what they were witnessing.
At that moment, Groot noticed the mysterious figure standing nearby.
The tree-like creature pointed in his direction and spoke.
"I am Groot."
Rocket Raccoon blinked in surprise.
"Wait, is someone over there?"
"I am Groot," Groot replied with a firm nod.
The entire Guardians of the Galaxy team turned to look.
But when they all turned their eyes to where Groot had pointed—there was nothing there.
Not a person, not even a single piece of space debris.
Rocket Raccoon frowned.
"Groot, are you sure? There's nothing there."
"I am Groot," Groot insisted, nodding again.
Just then, Star-Lord turned his head—and froze.
Standing inside their spaceship was an unfamiliar figure.
The old man with gray hair and a beard was now inside their ship.
"Whoa! Who the hell are you? And how did you sneak onto our ship?" Star-Lord demanded, raising his laser blaster and aiming it at the stranger.
Drax the Destroyer immediately drew his twin blades, and both Rocket Raccoon and Groot remained on high alert.
"I am Groot," Groot muttered.
Rocket Raccoon translated, his voice filled with suspicion.
"Groot says this old guy is the same man he saw outside just now."
Realization dawned on the team.
This old man was powerful—possibly far more powerful than any of them had anticipated.
But the stranger remained calm, completely unfazed by their weapons.
"Relax," he said with a smile. "I just saved your lives."
Star-Lord narrowed his eyes.
"What? You mean you're the one who destroyed those space pirate ships just now?"
"Of course. So, don't you think you owe me a drink?" the old man said nonchalantly.
Rocket Raccoon, still suspicious, crossed his arms.
"Maybe. But why did you do it? What's your reason for saving us?"
"Looking at you, I doubt you're just some kind-hearted old man who happens to help a bunch of intergalactic travelers being chased by space pirates."
A man who could obliterate an entire fleet of space pirates with a mere wave of his hand—who could survive in open space and teleport inside their ship—was definitely no ordinary person.
The old man chuckled.
"I'm here to find my son."
Rocket Raccoon raised an eyebrow.
"And what does finding your son have to do with saving us?"
Even Rocket Raccoon, with his sharp instincts, couldn't gauge the true depth of this man's power. One thing was clear—he was incredibly strong, likely far beyond their capabilities.
The old man spoke again, his tone calm but firm.
"Lower your weapons. You all know they won't do anything against me."
Rocket Raccoon scoffed.
"I know. But holding it makes me feel safer. Can't I at least do that?"
The old man chuckled again.
"Fair enough. Let me introduce myself. My name is Ego."
At that moment, Star-Lord's expression shifted.
He stared at Ego, an unshakable feeling of familiarity washing over him.
He was certain he had never met this man before—yet something about him felt strangely connected to him.
Rocket Raccoon's ears perked up in surprise.
"Wait... what? Ego? You mean the Ego? The planet we've been searching for? And this old guy just happens to have the same name as that planet?"
Drax and Groot exchanged confused looks, struggling to understand the connection between the man standing before them and the celestial body they were looking for.
Ego smiled.
"Because, Quill... I am your father."
Silence.
The entire Guardians of the Galaxy crew stood frozen.
Ego's words had hit them like a bombshell.
"What?" Star-Lord whispered, barely able to process the revelation.
The others were just as stunned.
Rocket Raccoon's ears twitched as he muttered, "No way. No freaking way."
Drax shook his head in disbelief.
Star-Lord's heart pounded in his chest.
"This... this is insane," he said, still struggling to grasp the truth. "My God, this is some next-level family drama."
Rocket Raccoon could hardly believe what he was seeing.
Ego observed the horrified and utterly disbelieving expressions on the faces of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
"I have a way to prove it."
Ego extended his hand toward Star-Lord, and in that instant, the celestial power within Peter Quill awakened.
A gleam flashed across Star-Lord's eyes.
Then, blue energy appeared in Ego's hands, radiating an immense, overwhelming power.
Star-Lord was stunned to see the same energy forming in his own hands.
The two forces—vast, powerful, and undeniably connected—were of the same origin. Even if Quill wanted to deny it, the evidence was irrefutable.
The energies resonated with each other, and unconsciously, Star-Lord took a step toward Ego.
Ego stepped forward as well, and their powers gradually drew closer until they merged.
With a satisfied smile, Ego looked at Star-Lord.
"Do you feel it?" he asked. "This is the power of a god. I am, in fact, a celestial."
"I am Ego," he continued. "And you, Quill—you are my son. My flesh and blood. You have inherited my celestial power."
"You are half-human, half-god. And you have inherited my abilities remarkably well. You, too, possess the power of a god."
"Oh my god…"
Star-Lord stared at Ego in shock. The rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy were equally stunned.
Rocket Raccoon ran a paw over his furry face in disbelief.
"I can't believe this idiot is actually the son of a god," he muttered. "Does he even remotely resemble a celestial?"
Yet, Ego's demonstration of power was undeniably compelling. In this universe, proof of lineage wasn't just about DNA tests—power was the ultimate evidence.
If Star-Lord didn't have Ego's blood flowing through his veins, there was no way he could wield such an immense force—especially one that mirrored Ego's own.
Still, Rocket and the others struggled to reconcile this revelation with their expectations of what a god should be.
"At the very least," Rocket grumbled, "he should look something like Odin."
"That's what I was thinking," Drax agreed.
It took Star-Lord a long moment before he finally forced himself to accept the truth.
He remembered what his mother had told him—that his father had left long ago.
For years, he had searched for his father, but it had led nowhere. He never expected to find him like this.
"Father… is it really you?"
Ego beamed.
"Of course," he said warmly. "Aren't you going to give your long-lost father a hug?"
Star-Lord hesitated for a moment, then smiled.
"Yeah, sure."
He embraced Ego.
Groot jumped in excitement, and Rocket Raccoon finally put down his weapon.
"Ugh, family dramas are so annoying," Rocket grumbled—but the small smile at the corner of his mouth betrayed his happiness for Star-Lord.
Ego released Quill and gestured toward his planet.
"Come with me, son," he said. "There's much to discuss. We haven't seen each other in so many years—I'm sure you have plenty of questions."
"Yeah, I do," Star-Lord said.
Ego enveloped the Guardians' spaceship in his celestial energy and effortlessly transported them through space.
Rocket Raccoon watched in amazement as they zipped through the cosmos at an incredible speed.
"My god," he muttered. "If I had power like this, I'd basically be a god myself."
"This is so efficient," he added. "No fuel, no hassle. You can just go anywhere in the universe at will."
In mere moments, they arrived at a breathtaking planet.
Lush green mountains and pristine waters stretched across the landscape. In the distance, a massive white palace stood majestically, gleaming under the light.
It was clear—this was Ego's home.
Ego spread his arms wide.
"Welcome," he said, "to Planet Ego."
