Chapter 28: Rough Idea
Emma was surprised to see Ellie carrying books with her, especially in a hospital. Plus, what was Ellie doing with books instead of being with the patient?
She looked at the title of the top book, «Introduction to the Human Body», and became even more curious about what Ellie was doing with them.
She said, "It seems like you're having a good discussion?"
Coulson replied, "I was just introducing Emma to the supernatural world, but what are you doing with those books?"
Ellie replied matter-of-factly, "They're for Emma. As you can see, Dr. Hill is rather occupied today. She would read these books anyway, and with her superhuman abilities, she can finish them in one day, right?"
Emma, who had already been thinking about Kamar-Taj and how much times it would take her to understand Portal Magic, was stunned by what Ellie said. She pointed to herself as if she didn't understand.
Ellie nodded at her, to which Emma instinctively protested, "No, why should I read this? I don't need these and can do anything with my powers."
Then she realized how idiotic what she said sounded. Isn't the reason mutants don't dominate the world due to their lack of understanding of their abilities?
She had seen many posts theorizing how, if Magneto were a scientist, he could do so much more. He shouldn't be just "Mister Iron King," which is ironic.
Anyway, it's true that with Tsunade's healing abilities and knowledge, there doesn't seem to be anything she could learn from these books. But was humanity's millennia of development really that worthless?
She said, "Sorry, I'm just a little resistant to books. Just seeing a thick one makes me dizzy."
Ellie smiled a little. After all, she was seven to eight years older than Emma, and the latter looked like a little sister to her. But, eh, looking at Emma's big boobs, she was a well-developed little sister.
Ellie dispersed those thoughts and said, "Don't be intimidated by how thick they look. They're just the basics, and you don't need to memorize them, just read them, even once. The knowledge you gain will be a precious asset, trust me."
Coulson, who was now thinking of Emma's new weakness: reading, also comforted her, "You can do it. With your enhanced physical abilities, it'll be very easy, trust me."
Well, it wasn't like Emma was throwing a tantrum; it was just how they made it seem. She said, "Okay, fine. I was just complaining. I'll read those books later, but I have a meeting now."
"A meeting?" Ellie asked. Not only she but Coulson was also surprised.
Emma said, "Well, it's something very important. Let's go home, Coulson."
Ellie didn't ask further. As for Emma, she didn't even say goodbye to Dr. Hill. The truth was, she was lazy and just wanted to make a poor shadow clone read instead of her.
Once in the car, Coulson asked, "I'm curious, who do you have a meeting with?"
Emma replied, "Of course, with my magic master."
"Magic master?" he said. "But I don't have any information about that."
Emma looked at him weirdly. "Uh? Do I have to report all my meetings to SHIELD?"
Coulson was speechless at what she said. Well, he admitted defeat. It's just that he's always been on guard about supernatural things.
Emma, not wanting to continue the discussion, knowing he would just ask her many questions and try to test her personality during the talk, simply bowed her head and opened one of the books as if she was reading.
Coulson, seeing this, of course, could do nothing. He couldn't tell her to stop reading when he had just encouraged her, right?
It was only when they arrived at her appointment that Emma raised her head. She said goodbye to Coulson and left.
The latter could only smile helplessly. During these few hours together, he had come to see her as more of a naughty young adult, completely different from the sophisticated woman Director Fury had described. Maybe it was because she was on guard against Fury and not charmed by Coulson?
He glanced at his face in the mirror, noticing that he seemed to have lost some hair. He decided to try a new hairline later.
...
Emma, who had entered her room, didn't know what Coulson was thinking. There was still some time before her meeting with the Ancient One because she thought her hospital trip would take a little longer.
By now, she had already summoned her shadow clone. Of course, her clones weren't as comedic as Naruto's, who would sometimes argue about their orders.
It simply took the book, as if programmed to do so. As for Emma, although she wanted to play some kind of game, she knew she couldn't be that willful without enough strength in this dangerous world.
Thus, she started practicing the Sun Breathing technique. She had to admit, even if it couldn't enhance her, it allowed Emma to enter a more concentrated state, where she could disperse any kind of distraction and immerse herself in one task.
Also, the Sun Breathing technique was the technique from which many other breathing techniques in the «Demon Slayer» world had later derived.
This meant it was highly malleable and had great potential for transformation. What Emma wanted to do was add chakra to the technique. Would she create a Chakra Breathing Technique, but another version that could absorb chakra?
Although there was no chakra in this world, Emma had a plan concerning her system. It was inspired by a fanfic in her previous world called «Marvel Game Maker System» by NunuXd, which she had read.
In short, what if she created some kind of virtual world like in that novel, where one could be injured? She would make it so that only she could heal characters. With enough chakra, she could create enough clones to manage it. If a character wanted to learn a new skill or technique, only she could teach them, she could create a potential ninja world.
But all of this was just a rough idea. She hadn't fully thought it out, but was going with the flow. Anyway, this wasn't a decision she could make in a rush, and she had enough time to think it through.
