Chapter 8: 7. Lizard
"Sir, the Lizard serum is ready. But it isn't tested yet."
Dr Connors said to Norman Osborn.
"Alright. Just hand over the serum. We will take it from here."
It didn't seem like Norman has any intention of involving Dr Connors in the testing.
Connors noticed this, and realised that Oscorp must actually be conducting human experiments. That's why they don't want to involve him.
And he wouldn't be able to gather any evidence. So, he will leave it to CIA.
For now...
"May I test it on myself?"
Norman thought about it, and nodded.
"I want the results by tomorrow."
"Yes sir!"
Dr Connors left his boss's office, and went back to his own.
He will just tell the CIA Agent that he tried his best. Plus, he wanted to get his arm back as soon as possible. He wouldn't be able to wait any longer.
Putting the passcode, he got the lizard serum and its antidote from the lock.
Taking a deep breath, he injected the serum into his arm.
For a while, nothing happened.
But, slowly, he could see his arm regrowing.
"It's working!"
His arm was growing back!
'Now, I can cure everyone in the world! I can give everyone this regeneration!
I will give it to Peter first. Afterall, he gave me the final piece to develop this serum.'
The typical villain mentality was born.
His patience ran thin as his arm was regenerating slowly.
So, the smart scientist he is, he injected himself with another Lizard serum.
Proving his intelligence, he injected another one.
And then, he started turning into a lizard.
But, instead of being horrified, he chuckled.
"T-this is the next evolution of humans! With no weaknesses!"
He totally forgot about handing over the Lizard serum to Norman, and instead took the serums and went home, while hiding the hand that was turning into that of a lizard.
But he found his home too stuffy.
Too... dry.
So as a brilliant scientist, he went inside a gutter.
And then, started preparing for his brilliant plan for turning the whole world into lizards, starting with Peter Parker.

(First PoV)
I woke up the next day, feeling lazy.
After lazily taking care of my morning routine, I lazily laid on the bed.
Did I say that I am feeling extra lazy today?
Yawning, I started thinking about what to do from now on.
I really need to fight some super-powered villain or something to get experience.
Spider-Man?
Hmm... That will be the best option for now, since I have prevented Lizard. If Connors actually held back injecting his serum though.
Anyway, Spider-Man is one of the most powerful individual. But that's because he is smart. I am not that smart. My whole spider-person gig is remembering everything. Not being a super genius.
As Silk,
-I have super-strength, probably not as much as Spider-Man .
-I am superfast. Probably not as much as Spider-Man in running, but swinging is a different matter.
-I am super-agile. Definitely more than Spider-Man.
-I have organic webbing. Whose properties I can control to some extent.
Changing colours? Yes.
Changing whether a web is permanent or temporary? Yes.
Changing cellular structure to make a web conductor or insulator of electricity? Yes.
Making my webs extremely thin and difficult to see? Yes. Sadly, they can't act as sticky steel threads like in Tensura. They become weak, so they are better for laying detection traps.
Making my webs extremely thick and durable?
Hmm...
Let's see...
'Silk Armour!'
I made webs around my body extremely thick, which made me look like I am wearing a bulky armour. It feels heavy too.
I went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife.
Hmm... It can't pierce through. I want to test for a bullet, but I will do that after I am in some abandoned area. Shooting will alert the neighborhood.
Wait...
How is soundproofing done?
I searched on the internet, and webbed up my entire bedroom temporarily.
Then, I put the music system on full blast.
Tsss... having a superior Silk Sense is sometimes painful...
I went out of the room, and tried to hear it.
... Perhaps I am not a good test subject for that. Afterall, I have enhanced senses.
Still, I guess this might work for ordinary humans? Given that none of my neighbours are feeling any discomfort?
...I need a test subject.
I went back to my room, and shut off my music system.
Then, dissolved my webs. Yup. Shooting dissolving webs can dissolve my other webs quicker.
Anyway, next I tried something else.
Web bullet.
It was shot out of my fingers at a moderate speed because I held back, and as soon as it came into contact with my target, a stuffed toy, the bullet expanded and captured the stuffed toy in a web.
Hmm... cool for restraining people. Though I wonder the top speed of my web bullets. What can be the actual damage done with them?
As I thought, I need to test things more.
But there is another thing I need to do.
Protecting my mind.
I didn't have the eidetic memory in my past life, so I don't know where the Ancient One lives. Unlike those fanfics, she hasn't approached me on her own as well.
It's a good thing that Dr Strange works in the same hospital as my mom. So when the time comes, I can contact him.
But, before that, Loki will arrive. And I can't really figure out how to protect my mind from the Mind Stone when it is in Loki's hands. I sure am going to expose myself to its radiation to make myself stronger and possibly gain telepathic abilities, but it wouldn't be good if I will be controlled before that.
Or worse, my memories may be leaked.
I can't really just make webs to guard against mind-related attacks, can I?
...Can I?
Hmm... Maybe if I make a helmet like Magneto...
What is his helmet made of?
Vibranium?
Can I turn my webs to a vibration mode?
I tried it, and shot vibrating webs. They vibrated. But I could easily see their vibration without having to rely on my senses. The vibrations were super obvious.
...So my webs have limits. Or I am just not proficient enough in using them?
I sighed and started cooking my breakfast. Since becoming Silk, my hunger has increased a lot.
And the webs that come out of my fingers wouldn't just make themselves without any extra nutrition afterall.
Wait a second... Can I shoot webs from my legs' fingers? And those places?
I tried out using the legs' fingers, but sadly, webs didn't come out from there.
I also tried those places, and thankfully, I can't shoot webs from them.
As I started eating my breakfast that is just too big for a normal person, I switched ON the TV.
"Breaking news! A giant lizard has attacked Midtown High School! Spider-Man is currently fighting it-"
Oh. So Connors ignored the precautions I had set for him?
I guess he really wants to become my test subject.
I left my home, pretending to go out for groceries, and after going around a lot of areas and avoiding the cameras, suited up.
"It's Silk'in time!"
I shouted, and Silk'ed all over.
