Chapter 95: Chaos Magic Unleashed! The Rise of the Red Chaos
Splash!
Sizzle!
As the river water cascaded down, the blazing inferno was extinguished at a visible pace.
"Demon Avenger! Mystic Sorcerer! Well done!"
Seeing Ned Leeds extinguish the fire in mere moments, the surrounding crowd erupted into cheers, shouting his titles and hailing him as one of the "Avengers."
However, Ned had no time to bask in the admiration. He crossed his hands slowly in front of his chest, then swiftly spread them apart. In an instant, countless projections of himself emerged and descended into the ruins below to aid in rescue efforts.
While Ned was busy saving lives, the explosion and the heroic actions of the "Demon Avenger" were rapidly going viral online. The incident turned Ned into a household name overnight.
"Dun dun~ Dun dun dun~ Hey~ Yo~ Hey~ Yo~"
The rhythm of a familiar tune interrupted Ned's thoughts, the music coming from his waist. The moment he heard it, he couldn't help but think of a man abducted by aliens as a child, whose awkward dancing somehow defeated Ronan, the Destroyer of Worlds.
It was none other than Star-Lord's signature BGM, which Ned had cheekily set as his ringtone.
"Stark?" Ned answered the call.
"Tell me what the hell just happened! Happy was nearly killed!"
Tony Stark's angry voice boomed from the other end of the line.
"I don't know yet. I'm at the explosion site, cleaning up the mess and rescuing people. How's Happy?"
"I've stabilized him and had J.A.R.V.I.S. rush him to the best hospital in New York. What clues do you have at the scene? If anything happens to Happy, I'll make those bastards pay with their lives!"
Tony, on his way to Stark Tower, was seething. If Pepper Potts were harmed, he feared he would lose control entirely.
"The area is scorching hot. Aside from that, there's no clear evidence. The attackers fled before I could intervene."
"Got it."
As the call ended, Ned noticed officials approaching the scene. Without hesitation, he opened a portal mid-air and vanished from sight.
Though he knew who orchestrated the attack on Happy, Ned chose not to intervene. This ordeal was a critical chapter in Tony Stark's growth as a hero.
The next day, news channels were buzzing—not just about the Mystic Sorcerer saving lives, but also Tony Stark's bold move of publicly revealing his address to challenge a terrorist organization.
Soon after, Ned received a call from Pepper Potts, pleading for his help in finding Tony. Ned agreed but promptly tossed the matter aside, diving into the archives of Kamar-Taj instead.
Under the Ancient One's guidance, Ned felt ready to study spells that required not just talent, but also immense composure and mental clarity.
Later that evening, Ned arrived at the meeting spot he had arranged with Wanda. To his surprise, Wanda was already waiting for him.
"You... you're here..." Wanda spoke softly, still somewhat wary of Ned. The way he manipulated minds unnerved her deeply.
"Yeah." Ned nodded, hesitating about whether to awaken Wanda's Chaos Magic.
Truthfully, the fate of movie-Wanda haunted him. Her life had been filled with far too much tragedy.
"I… Ah!"
Before Wanda could finish her sentence, a blood-red beam erupted from Ned, striking her chest. Wanda's body floated into the air, radiating an intense burst of Chaos Magic. At the same time, her power struck Ned's abdomen, sending shockwaves around them.
Crack!
"HAHAHAHA! A disciple of Vishanti? Your time is up!"
Amid the sound of shattering glass, a mocking voice emanated from Ned's abdomen. A crimson crystal, about the size of a fist, emerged and hovered above Wanda's head. It was the Red Chaos Stone—a dark relic Ned had once helped seal with Wong and Strange during the timeline of Avengers: Endgame.
"YOU!" Ned's face darkened as he recognized the stone. "How did you break free from the seal?"
"HAHAHA!" The Red Chaos Stone laughed maniacally. "Did you think surviving a Time Storm was easy? If it weren't for me, your mortal body would've turned to dust!"
"Time Storm?" Ned muttered, realization dawning on him. His gaze fell on Wanda, now consumed by Chaos Magic, making the situation all the more dire.
"Why didn't you escape or attack me while I was recovering?" he questioned.
The stone scoffed. "Do you think your petty seal is so easy to break? The Time Storm gave me just enough power to create a small crack, allowing me to manipulate your memory and make you forget about me. Otherwise, I'd have been handed over to the Ancient One long ago!"
The stone smirked. "But today, I'm done hiding. Using this girl's Chaos Magic, I've shattered the seal. And now, with near-limitless Chaos Magic at my disposal, not even the Ancient One can stop me!"
With a burst of crimson energy, the stone attacked Ned, hurling massive debris toward him with Chaos Magic.
"Let's finish this!" Ned roared, summoning a spherical defensive shield around himself. The stage was set for an epic showdown.
