Marvel Kung Fu Panda

Chapter 25: Chapter 24: Tentative Arrangements

The conversation between Adams and his companions in the living room carried on late into the night, finally concluding with a tentative plan for Big White's future.

Given the bond between Big White and Gwen, it was agreed that the panda would stay with the Gwens. If necessary, George's family might even expand their home by purchasing the adjacent room to create a panda pavilion.

Should the Gwens be unable to care for Big White adequately, Mayor Adams would arrange for a dedicated team to assist them.

Until statements were issued by the House of Representatives and the Eastern Embassy in the United States, Big White would remain at the Gwens' home. During this time, they would assess the family's ability to care for him and consider any additional support needed.

Concurrently, they would monitor Big White's well-being and develop breeding and communication strategies.

George suggested Adams fund the panda's diet, ideally with a chef from the Eastern Land.

For the animal protection staff, this scenario was unprecedented. They planned to report the situation and await official statements before making final decisions.

Meanwhile, the Smithsonian Zoo staff decided to stay in a nearby hotel, awaiting the Washington mayor's arrival for negotiations with Mayor Adams.

The situation reached a temporary resolution a day and a night after Big White's escape. While the zoo incident was settled, Big White's fate still depended on U.S. and Eastern diplomatic decisions.

Should Big White's requests be denied, he would need to devise an escape plan. Ideally, the requests would be approved, albeit likely with conditions.

Yet, another matter weighed on Big White's mind.

"Dabai, do you want to sleep with me?" Gwen asked, hopeful, as they were left alone in the bedroom.

"...No, I'm too dirty. Let's wait until I get some supplies to clean up tomorrow," Big White declined, despite craving a soft bed. After a day of running around, his once snowy coat was grimy, and cookie crumbs clung to his mouth.

Climbing into bed would only soil it with footprints and fur dust.

Thankfully, his time at the zoo taught him good hygiene, so he wasn't too odorous.

If Peter were around, he'd likely grumble about the panda's double standards. At Peter's house, Big White had left a trail of footprints across the sheets without hesitation.

"Then let me give you a bath. I took a day off from school tomorrow, so I don't mind staying up," Gwen offered, eager to help.

"No, I'm exhausted today. I can wash myself," Big White yawned widely and promptly fell asleep.

By now, it was around two in the morning, and Big White could no longer fight off sleep.

"...Alright, I won't disturb you. Goodnight!" Gwen said, shrugging, before turning off the lights and climbing into bed herself. After browsing her phone briefly, she too drifted off.

The next morning, George rose as usual, only to see a round panda racing down the corridor.

The sight jolted him awake.

"Hey, where are you off to? Don't raid the kitchen; food will be delivered soon," he called after Big White.

"I'm heading to the bathroom! Where is it?" came an urgent reply.

"Bathroom? There's no food in there," George replied, then widened his eyes in shock.

"Oh my God, did I hear that right? You spoke! Was that telepathy? This is incredible!"

Big White, desperate, was speechless. On the brink of an accident, he needed to find the bathroom fast.

Spotting a nearby door, he opened it with his paw, only to discover a storage room.

"If you don't want a mess, show me the bathroom!" Big White urged, eyeing George with frustration.

"Oh, right, follow me," George said, finally snapping out of his stupor and leading Big White to the bathroom.

"Here it is. Do you know how to use the toilet?" George asked, opening the door.

"Bang!" Without answering, Big White rushed in, closed the door, and settled on the toilet.

Relieved, he closed his small eyes, enjoying the comfort.

"Dad, why are you standing at the bathroom door? Have you seen Big White? He's not around this morning. Did he escape again?" Gwen asked, approaching with concern.

"He's in there," George pointed, "And I heard him speak. His voice is deep, not very bright."

"Really? What's he doing in there? Using the toilet?" Gwen asked, unfazed by Big White's ability to talk but curious about his bathroom behavior.

She opened the door to check.

"I think it's just a human in a panda suit," George marveled.

Inside, Big White sat on the toilet like a person, holding George's usual newspaper.

Hearing the door, Big White looked up, setting the paper aside and meeting their gaze.
