Chapter 121: Chapter 121: The Multiverse
Boom, boom, boom—
Just as all the beings in the Dark Dimension were filled with fear and unease, they suddenly felt the entire Dark Dimension shift!
It was as if the entire world had suddenly turned upside down!
"What's happening?"
"Why is the world shaking?!"
"It's not the world shaking, it's the world moving!"
"This noise... is, is the Lord moving!!!"
Powerful beings living in the Dark Dimension quickly communicated with each other through their thoughts.
Many of them had once been powerful figures in their own worlds, only seeking refuge with Dormammu for various reasons. They had enough awareness to make some quick deductions.
As the world shook, they quickly guessed what was happening.
"Why would the Lord suddenly move? Does it have something to do with that roar earlier?"
"Something must have angered the Lord to such an extent, and clearly, it wasn't a being from the Dark Dimension. It must have been a powerful being from other worlds or dimensions!"
"Is the Lord planning to directly descend into some world?"
"Shh, don't speak recklessly. The Lord is not someone we can comment on!"
The powerful beings' thoughts flowed in the darkness, and they quickly pieced together the sequence of events.
However, most of them shared the same attitude: schadenfreude! (TL/N: Schadenfreude = pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune.)
They were already imagining how cruelly the Lord would torment those who had offended him once he captured them.
Perhaps they could even watch the spectacle.
This was one of the main reasons why Dormammu was so feared, as he always repaid grudges!
In fact, they weren't wrong.
At this very moment, Dormammu was indeed planning to personally strike at the main universe!
He had forgotten how long it had been since he was this angry!
How dare someone insult him so brazenly, knowing full well his identity? Even if it was only a projection of his will, it still made him furious to the point of near losing control!
So, he took action!
He directly summoned his own body and moved toward the main universe!
However, His reckless move not only startled the beings living in the Dark Dimension but also shook half of the multiverse!
<'Celestial Realm' Asgard>
The "Allfather," Odin, who rules over the Nine Realms, was in the back garden of his palace, watering a carnivorous plant with jagged teeth while casually chatting with his wife, the "Queen of the Heavens," Frigga, smiling.
Suddenly!
His expression slightly changed, and the hand holding the watering can wavered slightly.
With that motion, the entire garden was instantly flooded with massive amounts of water, spilling over the knees and even soaking the carnivorous plant, leaving it stunned.
Clearly, the watering can in his hand was a spatial artifact.
It likely contained a vast amount of water, and what had just been poured out was only a small fraction of it.
Seeing this, Frigga raised an eyebrow, casually waving her hand.
The water that had flooded the garden flew into the air, transforming into a huge, spherical water ball.
It wasn't until all the water had gathered into the massive orb that it slowly began to shrink, eventually becoming no larger than a glass bead. It then automatically flew back into the watering can.
"What happened? What's going on?" Frigga, having put away the water, quickly asked.
"Dormammu seems to have lost his mind. He's currently controlling the entire Dark Dimension and heading toward the main universe..." Odin's expression became serious.
"The Dark Lord Dormammu?" Frigga's expression also changed.
As the mistress of the Celestial Palace, even though she usually didn't interfere in the affairs of Asgard, she was still well-versed in basic knowledge.
She certainly knew as much about the Nine Realms and the events in the multiverse as Odin did, and perhaps even more. Even her two sons couldn't match her.
Dormammu, the Dark Lord who had invaded many dimensions and worlds, was a name that no important figure in the multiverse could possibly have not heard of.
As the ruler of the Celestial Palace, Frigga was no exception.
"Who else would dare bear that name?" Odin nodded slowly.
"What does he want in the main universe?" Frigga asked in shock.
"It's not clear yet, but… it seems his target is Midgard?" Odin's one visible eye glowed with a nebula-like light, deep and mysterious, as though he was gazing at something far away.
Midgard, which is Earth in the Nine Realms system.
The Nine Realms themselves were a strange phenomenon in the multiverse. Of the nine realms, all but one (Earth) existed outside the main universe.
However, the other eight realms all revolved around Earth as their axis, creating a peculiar arrangement.
It's important to note that traversing the multiverse is an extremely difficult task.
Even Dormammu, the Dark Lord who had invaded numerous dimensions and worlds, found it far from easy to cross the barriers between dimensions and worlds.
It required certain conditions to make it possible.
If one tried to forcefully break through the dimensional walls with their own body, even if successful, it would provoke a backlash from the multiverse, resulting in severe damage.
Normally, even someone as powerful as Dormammu would never willingly face such a backlash.
But the peculiar thing about the Nine Realms was that traveling between these nine realms was far easier than crossing between different dimensions and worlds. There were many ways to achieve this.
Thus, as the ruler of the Nine Realms, Odin could not allow Earth to become someone else's backyard.
If Earth were ever occupied, it would mean that the other eight realms could fall into danger at any time.
This is the simplest form of the concept of mutual dependence—when one side falls, the other follows.
"He wants to invade Midgard?"
Frigga had been serious, but upon hearing that Dormammu's target was Earth, she relaxed. "Midgard is one of the most complex places in the main universe. Has he gone mad?"
Frigga's words were not without basis.
As the nominal ruler of the Nine Realms, Odin, who was a true father figure, rarely involved himself with Earth's affairs, and this was precisely the reason why.
"Whether he's gone mad is uncertain, but he does seem rather abnormal," Odin's expression was strange.
Because what Odin "saw" of Dormammu seemed to exude an air of madness!
In his normal state, Dormammu's aura would be evil, dominant, and full of aggression… but now, there was a sense of hysterical madness surrounding him!
"Wait here for me, I'll be right back." Odin's gaze suddenly returned to normal as he spoke.
"Wait! You're going to stop him?" Frigga stopped her husband, looking a bit worried. "It's impossible for him to fully descend into Midgard, you don't need to..."
Before Frigga could finish, Odin interrupted with a smile. "Are you worried I'm not his match?"
"You know that's not what I mean," Frigga replied irritably.
"It doesn't matter if that's what you mean. I've grown old, and he's unaffected by time. Right now, I'm indeed no match for him," Odin said with a carefree smile.
