Marvel: I Am A Law God!

Chapter 6: How dare you say I'm not handsome, You Damn Rope!!

"Is that so?" Hippolyta turned her gaze to her daughter.

"Maybe…" Diana hesitated, then shook her head. "I didn't really see everything."

She had indeed seen a plane fall from the sky, but the rest? Not so much.

---

"And your name?" Hippolyta's attention shifted to Ryuji.

"Ryuji," he answered simply.

Hippolyta's gaze turned cold as she locked eyes with Steve Trevor. "Who are you? Why did you betray your people?"

---

Steve stepped back cautiously, raising his hands in defense. "I'm not with them!"

From the moment he'd landed on Paradise Island—or more accurately, *crashed*—his luck had spiraled downhill.

Ryuji smirked inwardly. Saving Antiope had worked out for him, improving his standing from *enemy* to *neutral*.

Steve, though? Not so much. His status had gone from *stranger* to *hostile*.

---

"Then why are you wearing their uniform?" Hippolyta pressed, her tone sharp.

"I can't tell you that," Steve replied quickly.

"Say it!"

"I can't!"

"Kill him. He's a threat," Venelia, one of the Amazon generals, declared with a cold edge.

---

Diana tensed up beside Ryuji. "Wait! He helped us stop the invaders!"

Before more swords could be drawn, Ryuji interjected lazily, "If you kill him now, you'll lose the only chance to find out why they came here."

---

Ryuji didn't understand the language perfectly—he only picked up words like *name*—but he'd seen this part of the movie before.

Steve would soon be hauled into the council chambers and interrogated with the *Lasso of Truth*.

His curiosity piqued as he stole a glance at Venelia. *Huh, so that's the Amazon played by a supermodel... The things you don't notice on first watch.*

---

"Diana, stay here and look after Antiope," Hippolyta instructed.

The queen turned to Ryuji and gave him a courteous nod. "Please, sir, stay here as well. I'll arrange accommodations for you later."

Before Ryuji could respond, Diana interjected, "No, Mother! I want to go too!"

---

Ryuji shrugged. "I'll come along too. I *did* crash into his plane, after all. I'd like to know what he was up to."

Hippolyta considered for a moment before nodding. "Fine. Let's go."

---

Soon, they reached the grand council hall—a scene straight out of ancient Greece. Steve stood in the center, bound by a glowing golden rope: the *Lasso of Truth*.

Ryuji's eyes widened. *That's the real deal! The Lasso of Truth!*

---

"I… I'm Captain Steve Trevor, pilot, American Expeditionary Force, serial number 8141921… and that's all I want to say!" Steve blurted, his face bewildered.

*What's happening?! Why can't I shut up?!*

Ryuji chuckled to himself. *Oh, the lasso works all right.*

---

While Steve struggled to explain his side of the story, Ryuji busied himself chatting with his system.

"So let me get this straight: I earn 'talent points' by defeating enemies. The stronger they are, the more points I get. I can use these points to exchange for magical talents, skills, and items?"

[Correct, Host.]

---

"And if I touch or kill enemies classified as 'elite' or higher, there's a chance I'll randomly acquire one of their talents?"

[Yes. Touching elite targets grants fewer points but comes with a small chance of talent absorption. Killing elite enemies has a higher chance to acquire multiple talents.]

"Got it. Magic for exchange, but external talents are random. Nice!"

---

A sharp voice snapped Ryuji back to reality.

"Take him away," Hippolyta ordered.

Ryuji's eyes darted to the lasso. No way. I'm not missing this chance.

"Wait! Can I try that?"

Diana blinked in surprise. "You want to try the Lasso of Truth?"

---

Hippolyta raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. Is he serious?

Ryuji stepped forward confidently. "Yeah. Can it really make someone tell the truth? I need to see this."

With Hippolyta's nod of approval, the lasso was handed to him. Ryuji wrapped it around his wrist.

---

He grinned. "I'm a handsome guy!"

For a moment, silence filled the room.

The Amazons blinked.

The Lasso of Truth shimmered faintly, glowing warm yellow.

---

Wait a minute..

A faint wisp of smoke rose from Ryuji's hand.

"AH! It burns! Damn it!" Ryuji yelped, flinching in pain as he unwrapped the lasso.

The female warriors let out a collective sigh of relief.

---

Ryuji scowled. "What the hell? Am I not handsome?"

The rope remained stubbornly silent, as if mocking him.

"Fine!" Ryuji grumbled. "I'm ugly, okay?"

The glow disappeared.

---

For a moment, an awkward silence fell over the hall.

Hippolyta turned her head slightly, fighting back a smile.

The Amazons exchanged amused glances, barely suppressing their laughter.

---

Ryuji glared at the rope and pointed a finger at it. "You're just a piece of string! How dare you judge my looks?!"

The tension in the room broke. Even Hippolyta couldn't help herself—her regal facade cracked, and the corners of her mouth twitched.

---

Ryuji's face darkened. "I'll remember this… rope."

Quack... In his mind, he swore he could hear crows mocking him.
