Marvel: Geokinesis

Chapter 5: Chapter 5-Just The Two Of Us

[1 Month Later]

"You sure you wanna go through with this, Jean?"

Adam asked with a concerned expression.

"Yeah! Just hurry up and do it already!"

Jean replied eagerly.

"Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you."

Adam raised his right hand, summoning shards of stone from seemingly thin air. They spread out in an array, like an overwhelming force of artillery aimed at Jean.

In a single motion, chopping his hand down through the air, Adam unleashed the stone shards one by one at a moderate pace towards Jean. Swiftly, Jean jumped back, using her psychokinesis to misdirect the incoming shards of stone.

She moved with grace and inhuman focus, every step skillfully performed.

"Come on, is that all you got?"

She joked, assuming a cocky and confident tone.

"Wow, where is all this confidence coming from? You're literally on easy mode."

Adam replied with confusion.

"Well then, why not go all out?"

Jean said, reaching her hand out, and watching as all of the shards froze in place from the force of her psychokinesis.

"Fine then, we'll see how long you last."

Adam facepalmed, increasing the speed of his stone shards, which collided with the force of Jean's psychokinetic barrier.

Adam's attack forced their way through the barrier, moving with the grace and speed of a bullet spiraling through the air. They became too fast for Jean to react, and forced her to run away from the raining stone bullets.

"Wait, hold on a sec, are you trying to kill me?"

Jean exclaimed fearfully while running away.

"Nah, no, if I were trying to kill you, you'd be dead already... I'm missing on purpose."

Adam retorted nonchalantly with his arms crossed, while he stared at the fleeing Jean with a smirk.

[Bro, you don't have aura.]

'Heh, shut up! Why are you still in my head?'

[I got board, but anyways I couldn't help but notice how you're warming up to your ability, told you it wasn't useless.]

'Uhm, do I seem overpowered to you? I'm literally bullying a little kid right now."

[Whatever, dude.]

"Well, Jean, are you done now? Do you give up?"

Adam asked, halting the descent of his stone shards toward Jean.

"I mean, if you want to take a break, then I guess that'd be okay with me."

Jean smiled in response, making her way over to Adam.

"Wanna go for lunch?"

She asked, leaning in with a taunting smile.

Adam stuttered back, blushing at how close she got.

"We—well, that'd be nice."

Adam stuttered in reply.

[Gee, you two are so awkward. Especially you, ya little creep...]

'Shut up already.'

[1 Hour Later]

"Gee, I almost forgot what fast food tasted like."

Adam said with an uncontained smile as he stuffed his face with the delicious fries and burgers before him, only taking short breaks to sip on his Sprite.

"Eww! Don't eat with your mouth open, that's disgusting."

Jean murmured, disgusted by Adam's gluttonous appearance.

"Hey, don't hate me because I'm enjoying food, you know some people don't have this luxury. You should be honored that you do and enjoy it just as much as I do... It's only right."

Adam replied, still with a mouth filled with food.

"Tch! You're still doing it, Adam. Show some decency." Jean exclaimed with an annoyed expression. "Besides, I never said anything about not enjoying it or whatever." She blushed, continuing her argument.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever."

Adam muttered, finishing the last bit of his food.

"Ahhh! That was delicious!"

Jean lowered her head in disappointment, "You're embarrassing, you know that. You act so immature in public."

"Yeah, well, I am just a kid, so... makes sense."

Adam joked, laughing with enthusiasm.

"Well, I guess we should be heading back then?"

"I guess, but uhh, who's going to pay for this? I left my wallet at home..."

Adam said, scratching his head in shame.

[Wow, red flag.]

'Shut up, I forgot about it, okay.'

"Tch! I guess I'll pay, this time! But you're so paying me back."

After paying, the two got up and left. On their way out, they heard a sudden scream coming from the alley.

"Hmm, I wonder what that was?"

Adam asked in curiosity.

"Adam, don't be hasty now."

Jean muttered, but by the time she looked, Adam was already gone.

"Agh! I'm starting to get tired of him."

Jean rushed to Adam's side, following behind him as he walked down the dark alleyway. Shortly, the two figures, one much larger than the other, gripped the smaller figure and pinned the person to the wall.

The smaller figure released terrified screams that echoed through the alley. From her voice, it was obvious that she was a girl.

"Now what?"

Jean questioned.

"Well, obviously we're gonna save the girl!"

Adam yelled, drawing the attention of the man to himself.

"Heh, who the heck are you two brats? Trying to play hero? You should get out of here before things get dangerous for you."

The man said while he ferociously gripped the young woman's neck and pinned her to the wall.

"Yeah, and if I did that, I wouldn't be much of a hero, would I?"

Adam said with a cocky tone.

"Brat, this isn't a playground, now run on to your mommy before I teach you a lesson."

The man retorted, becoming more irritated by the second.

"Yeah, then come teach me that lesson."

Adam continued his voice calm and confident, yet not at all serious.

"Cocky brat I guess I'm just gonna have to teach you a lesson then."

The man began approaching Adam, his fist engulfed in flames.

"Uh oh, Adam, you might've bitten off more than you could chew this time around. This guy's a mutant, and it seems he uses fire."

Jean said cautiously.

"Well, luckily for me, a little bit of dirt can put out flames."

Adam said with a smile before summoning a shard of stone that he sent flying toward the man like a speeding bullet.

But before the attack could land, the man punched it with his flaming fist, burning through the stone bullets.

*GASP!*

Adam gasped after witnessing how easily his attack had been countered.

"What happened to that whole a little dirt can put out a fire?"

Jean joked.

'Aha, why do I have to have this lame ability? I really can't stand it anymore. Please, Leo, let me get another spin. I know you're listening.'

[Nah, I think I'm good besides you're just a kid, I'm sure you're ability will grow stronger eventually.]

'Whatever you useless god!'

[You know, I can just erase you from existence or something like that, right? You should be nicer to me.]

'Yeah, yeah, whatever. I didn't even mean it.'

"Well, Adam, what's next?"

Jean asked with a playful smirk.

"Right, because I'm just getting started."

Adam replied.

The man began charging the two, but tripped over a pothole created by Adam, before he dashed towards the man as he was about to fall over. Adam created a stone staff and slammed it into the man's head, crashing him to the ground.

"Yeah, see that Jean told you no sweat at all. Even with this super lame power of mine, I'm still the strongest."

Adam cheered, jumping for joy with a goofy expression.

Though behind him the man raised from the ground like an undead, his expression pissed off and his hands blazing with raging flames.

"Uhh, Adam, you might wanna check behind you."

Jean said, facepalming.

"Huh?"

Adam turned his head and saw the man blitzing towards him at an immense speed. As he neared, Adam smirked, jumping high into the sky just before he landed his attack, causing the man to fall off balance.

His falling fist crashed into the unsuspecting Jean, who was sent flying by the blow, barely managing to mitigate the damage with her psychokinesis.

"Jean!"

Adam shouted with worry, all over his face, rushing over to his friend. When he got there, Jean was on the verge of consciousness, and Adam was exuding rage.

"You wait right there, things are about to get serious."

Adam grabbed hold of Jean and used a stone platform to float to the top of a nearby building. Gently setting her down on the roof with an enraged expression.
