Mike cursed under his breath. With a casual flick, the dagger in his hand shot out with a sharp whoosh, pinning a buzzing fly to the wall.
His ability, Memory Imagination Materialization, allowed him to manifest objects from his memories. To do so, he first needed to picture the object in his mind clearly and vividly while imbuing it with the abilities it had in his memory.
This process, however, took considerable time. The more complex or powerful the object, the longer it took to materialize.
But who would give him that kind of time in a fight?
If only he could skip this mental process…
No, "skip" wasn't the right word—it was impossible to skip altogether!
The ability required him to manifest objects from his memory, and his memory wasn't limited to simple objects like ordinary daggers.
He had already tested this.
Yes, he had previously managed to materialize a Zanpakutō—a real, usable Zanpakutō.
The downside? It had taken him a full four hours to manifest the blade, and it only lasted for thirty seconds.
In battle, who would give him four hours to conjure something?
So, even though he could materialize powerful items, he still deemed his ability useless.
"Trash ability!"
Mike cursed again.
The system had granted him a highly potential-filled power, yet it was practically useless in combat.
"Damn system!"
Mike swore under his breath.
Ever since the system had activated and he received this ability, he had tried countless methods to resolve its frustrating limitations, but to no avail.
How was he supposed to make this work?
Look for answers in the system itself?
Fat chance!
The system interface was incredibly basic. He had memorized every detail of it when he first accessed it two months ago and could now recreate it perfectly in his mind without missing a single element.
Subconsciously, Mike opened the system again.
Instantly, the interface appeared in his mind.
"See? Exactly the same as in my memory…"
"Huh? What's that?"
Mike froze for a moment. He suddenly noticed a small, inconspicuous exclamation mark in the bottom-right corner of the interface.
Had this been there all along? Or was it new?
Puzzled, he clicked on it. A message appeared in his mind.
---
*Congratulations! The host has unlocked the auxiliary ability: Card Creation.*
*Card Creation:*
1. The host can materialize a blank card. The card can be used to seal manifested objects, placing them in a state where they consume no energy.
2. Completed cards can be stored in the host's mind but require a small amount of materialization energy to maintain their existence.

Mike's mouth twitched violently at the system's prompt. His facial features even began to twist out of control.
This cursed system was utterly ridiculous!
It needed to be manually unlocked? Why couldn't it just give him everything upfront?
What if he hadn't accidentally noticed this exclamation mark? Would his ability have remained practically useless forever?
Taking a deep breath, Mike suppressed his urge to punch the system and began experimenting.
---
*Card Creation…*
With a thought, a blank card materialized in his hand.
Next, it was time to seal a manifested object.
Using his ability, Mike materialized the object he was most familiar with—a dagger.
In the next moment, he activated the card's sealing ability.
The dagger disappeared silently, leaving behind an image of the weapon imprinted on the card in his other hand.
With another thought, words appeared on the back of the card:
*Item Name*: Dagger
*Item Description*: None
*Remarks*: Just an ordinary dagger—nothing special. But it might just be sharp enough to slit your throat.
A single thought caused the card to vanish, and the dagger reappeared in his hand.
Perfect!
Mike was ecstatic.
Now that he could create cards, his ability… was incredible!
Excitement flashed in his eyes as he continued experimenting with materialization.
This time, he chose a powerful weapon.
The materialization process took longer, and it couldn't be interrupted.
Unfortunately… just as he was halfway through the process, his phone rang.
Glancing at the screen, he saw it was Sloan.
Sloan had information on Kutch.
Moments later, after getting the intel he needed, Mike sighed.
If only he could fully materialize a weapon, this mission would be much easier. But there wasn't enough time.
After some thought, he made a call. Then, holstering two pistols at his waist, he threw on a long coat, grabbed a suitcase, and left the safe house, driving into the night.
Manhattan at Night
It was a high-end apartment building.
Inside one of the apartments, a man and a woman were locked in a fiery battle.
From the dining table in the kitchen to the sofa in the living room, they fought their way into the bedroom, reaching the climax of their confrontation.
On a rooftop a hundred meters away, Mike held a sniper rifle, peering through the bedroom window. Watching the two entangled figures, he curled his lips in disdain. As Kutch initiated a sudden charge, Mike didn't hesitate—he pulled the trigger, aiming directly at Kutch's head.
Bang!
The bullet shattered the window and struck the man's head.
His skull exploded like a tomato, spraying the bedroom with crimson gore. The woman beneath Kutch was instantly drenched, looking like a grotesque tomato chicken.
She let out a piercing scream before fainting on the spot.
Mike froze for a moment. He hadn't expected Kutch to go down so easily.
But just then, a sharp voice came through his earpiece.
"Get down!"
Reacting immediately, Mike rolled to the side without a moment's hesitation.
Boom!
Debris scattered everywhere.
A bullet hit the spot where he'd just been, leaving a cracked bullet hole in the concrete railing of the balcony.
Mike's amber-colored eyes narrowed, beads of cold sweat trickling down his forehead.
If he'd been a second slower, his head would have been blown off.
This was Kutch's trap! She should've never agreed to help Mike, let alone take his place in this operation!
Raven ducked behind cover, biting her lip. In a low voice, she muttered, "Mike, find him!"
At that moment, Mike's voice came through again.
"Move!"
Without hesitation, Raven pushed off with her legs, rolling to the side.
Bang!
Another bullet pierced through her previous hiding spot, leaving a fresh bullet hole in the concrete.
Raven sucked in a sharp breath and pressed her earpiece. "Damn it, Mike! Find him already!"
The last thing she wanted was to end up a corpse for helping out.
As soon as the words left her mouth, the sound of a gunshot came through the earpiece.
Mike had fired!
He'd located Kutch's position.
Raven exhaled in relief.
With the King of Assassins targeting Kutch, even someone of Kutch's caliber wouldn't dare split their attention to attack her.
For now, she was safe.
"Get out of there!"
Mike's calm voice came through. His sniper rifle roared repeatedly, unleashing suppressive fire on Kutch without even needing to aim.
The roles had reversed. Now, Kutch was the one in danger.
Mike's expression remained calm, his sharp gaze locked onto the swiftly moving figure in the distance. His finger squeezed the trigger again and again with practiced precision.
Suddenly, without any warning, Mike shifted from his position.
Bang! Bang!
Debris flew as two bullet holes appeared where he had just been standing.
