Chapter 19: Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Air Combat Mecha: Storm
While studying this skill book, Luke felt an unprecedented swelling pain in his mind. Countless pieces of knowledge rushed into his brain.
It felt like he had absorbed all the courses from college to professional engineering in an instant, covering vast amounts of knowledge in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, ergonomics, and more.
It took Luke another two weeks to digest this.
He wasn't idle during this period. To build a real mecha, a lot of preparation was needed.
First of all, he needed a real studio.
It was already difficult enough to create Christina in his bedroom, and the main challenge with Christina was the programming of the AI; not much tinkering was required.
Building a mecha in his bedroom?
No way.
What if his adoptive parents saw him? It would be hard to explain. Using extracurricular activities as an excuse wouldn't cut it.
Have you ever seen an elementary school where they teach how to build mechas?
"Am I from the Federation too? I'm Kira Yamato!"
Luke finally rented an old warehouse not far from his home.
The landlord lived in Ottawa and never returned. This warehouse had been left unused for several years, and the rent was very cheap.
Most importantly, everything could be finalized online. Apple Pay worked.
Luke was very happy to have his own secret space.
He could finally do whatever he wanted and make all kinds of weird things without worrying about being discovered. If he had the ability, he could secretly build a nuclear bomb here and no one would know.
Now that the venue problem had been solved, the next issue to address was the equipment.
As the saying goes, a good cook cannot cook without rice.
But even if you have rice but no pot, it won't work.
Even someone like Tony Stark, who has extreme hands-on abilities, couldn't make anything in Afghanistan without tools.
Later, under extremely crude conditions, they only produced the Mark I, a broken piece that would fall apart if dropped.
Luke wasn't as arrogant as Tony. He knew himself. He understood that the gap between him and Tony was only as big as the gap between their fingers.
To build the air combat mecha "Tornado," various professional tools were essential for assistance.
He had a higher starting point than Tony had in Afghanistan, and he had Christina as his assistant.
Tony didn't have Jarvis at the time, only Ethan, a doctor. The materials were also locally available.
Luke believed he could do better than Tony did at the time.
It was another Saturday. Luke made an excuse to go out and play ball with Peter Parker. Then he skated outside his warehouse. Seeing that no one was watching him, he took out his key, opened the door, went inside, and locked it behind him.
Crash—
He pulled out a lot of things from the storage space.
Hammers, wrenches, pliers, everything he needed. There were also screwdrivers of various types, a brand new oxygen welding gun with a matching oxygen cylinder, a set of electric forging furnaces (80% new), and a second-hand computer for CNC.
Finally, there was even a small lathe, again second-hand, which Luke had inspected and found in good working order.
"It's a money-burning project. For now, I can only make do with second-hand tools. Brand new ones are available online, but they're too expensive."
After buying all these, the more than $50,000 laundered from the card was instantly gone.
He got all these items through online shopping.
Luke preferred online shopping because it saved him a lot of trouble.
On the Internet, you have no idea if the person negotiating the price with you is an adult, a 7-year-old child, or maybe even a dog.
You can't rule out that possibility!
Because quantum science tells us that before observation, all possibilities exist simultaneously!
"Master, the liquid nitrogen you purchased has arrived," Christina reminded him.
"Okay, I understand. Christina, how much data transfer between you and the host has been completed?"
"The data has been transferred."
"Very good. Everything is ready. Let's get started!"
---
The engineering work was easier than Luke had imagined.
After absorbing the skill book, Luke's understanding of engineering could be called master-level. Just like his punch and mind shield techniques, it had completely become an instinct in his body.
With the assistance of Christina, an AI, the entire manufacturing process was highly efficient.
Luke spent four to five hours a day working in the warehouse. When he wasn't there, Christina took care of the tedious and procedural work.
As an AI, Christina could even frequently give advice and suggestions, which were sent to Luke's phone as text messages.
Luke would pass instructions back to the warehouse from school, and Christina would efficiently complete the tasks. The human and the AI worked in perfect harmony.
Ten days later.
As usual, Luke made an excuse that he was going to Peter Parker's house to play ball. With some excitement, he quickly skated to the warehouse.
"Christina, what's wrong?" he asked impatiently as soon as he entered.
"The painting of the aircraft surface has been completed by 95% and will be done soon."
Luke's eyes were burning with excitement!
He walked over to the workbench and saw Christina controlling two robotic arms that were performing the final touches on the exterior of the machine in front of them.
The entire body of the air combat mecha was completed.
What appeared before him now was a small robot, 1.2 meters tall and 1.2 meters wide, looking like a Q-version of Gundam!
Luke applied everything he had learned about mechanical engineering to this project.
The overall lines of the machine were smooth, angular, and aggressive. The color scheme was inspired by Luke's favorite Gundam: Strike Freedom.
Thus, the overall appearance of the mecha was a shiny silver-white, with blue and red accents, giving it a futuristic, sci-fi look!
He used the best material he could find for the mecha shell, and after stacking multiple layers, it could withstand close shots from small-caliber firearms.
The power was jet-powered, similar to Iron Man's suit.
In DNF, the air combat mecha Tornado was an unmanned combat unit released by the mechanic, using machine guns and missiles to carry out air and ground attacks.
Luke had added an active driving function to the mecha, making it piloted.
So, he modified it into a rideable unit: the 1.2-meter-high body remained the same, but the interior was hollowed out, and the circuits were moved slightly outward, so only his 7-year-old body could fit inside. An adult wouldn't even be able to fit a leg in it.
It must be said that this 7-year-old body once again became his advantage.
There were many advantages to a small aircraft, including being smaller, easier to hide, not easily becoming a live target when flying, and hard to capture by radar. These were obvious benefits.
It was worth mentioning that this air combat mecha didn't use any common energy. Instead, it was powered by colorless small crystals provided by the system.
Luke took out a large number of small colorless crystals from the magic box. There were probably thousands of them in his storage space.
He hadn't expected that this material, in addition to being used to cast colorless skills, could also be used as fuel for the air combat mecha.
Christina calculated that one small colorless crystal could power the mecha for 5 hours. In combat mode, one block could provide enough energy for about two hours.
It was still quite convenient. It was worthy of being a system product!
