Chapter 255: Chapter 255: The Last Magneto (Part 2)
"Hey, where do you think you're going?"
A vibranium shield suddenly flew out from the corner, spinning toward Erik's head. Steve Rogers and Bullseye stood in front of the window, blocking Magneto's escape route.
Seeing Erik intercepted, the Hulk grinned and said, "Nice job, you two. I'll share a finger with each of you later."
Just as Erik was about to slice the two blocking his way in half, he saw a figure in iron armor flying in through the window—Tony Stark.
"Step aside!"
Magneto extended his powers to control the metal in Tony's armor, only to realize it had no effect.
He quickly recalled that this was an anti-magnetic suit—he had faced Iron Man several times before. Though not a major threat, his magnetic pulse could still disable the suit's anti-magnetic system. However, with three other enemies watching his every move, the situation was precarious.
Left with no choice, Erik turned and fled in the opposite direction, hoping to avoid becoming food for the zombie-infested heroes that might soon arrive.
"Was that Tony?" Garus, standing at the building's entrance, caught sight of a red-suited figure flying into the window above.
"Hurry, there must be someone up there—or maybe they found something," Deadpool's disembodied head suggested. According to him, there shouldn't be any living humans left in this world. Could it be that they had discovered the interdimensional shuttle?
Loud crashes echoed from inside the building, along with the unmistakable roar of the Hulk.
With the elevators completely destroyed, Garus and his group had no choice but to take the stairs.
"Are you seriously going up there? Zombie Hulk is insanely powerful," Deadpool's head protested.
Wade smirked. "Wow, never thought I'd see another me acting this scared. Garus, let me slice him up—this is embarrassing."
"You don't understand," the severed head shot back. "The zombie virus nullifies healing factors. Just look at me!"
"Lost your body and your guts, huh?"
As the two bickered, Wade continued upward, while Garus ignored them. The absurdity of the conversation at least seemed to put Howard the Duck at ease—this world was far too unsettling.
A metallic clanging from above signaled trouble. When Erik and Garus finally came face to face, Erik hesitated for a brief moment—Garus, Wade, and the duck didn't appear infected.
He recognized one of them. "Wade? Weren't you eaten by the zombies?"
The severed Deadpool head, still dangling from Garus's grip, shouted, "Hey! The Wade you're talking about is right here!"
Remembering the zombies chasing him, Erik urgently warned, "Move aside! There are zombies right behind me. If you want to live, run now!"
"Why run?" Garus didn't budge, instead glancing upward. A grotesque, pus-covered Hulk was barreling down the staircase, smashing through anything in his way.
Seeing Garus refuse to move, Erik's eyes flashed with hostility.
A metallic panel suddenly shot toward Garus, but with a swift motion, he deflected it—"Bang!" A deep fist imprint was left on its surface.
Garus, unfazed, unleashed a surge of necrotic energy. A gray mist rose from Erik's feet, creeping up his body and binding him in place.
"Stay put."
Garus then tossed Deadpool's head to Wade.
As Erik struggled, the Hulk came crashing down, landing with such force that deep cracks spread across the staircase.
"One, two, three… and a half. Perfect! Just enough for a decent meal," Hulk drooled, his eyes gleaming as he lunged at Garus.
A thunderous impact shook the building as Garus's smaller fist clashed with Hulk's massive one. The force sent Garus stumbling back, slamming into a wall. His hand tingled with numbness.
Zombie Hulk was indeed formidable. His strength now rivaled Thanos, and in that exchange, Garus had been completely overpowered.
"HULK UNSTOPPABLE!" The monster roared and leaped high, descending upon Garus like a meteor.
Steve, Bullseye, and Tony quickly backed away. Every time Hulk fought, it was like the world was ending. The building crumbled wherever he stepped.
But things didn't go as expected.
At some point, a sword had appeared in Garus's hand. With a single slash, it cut deep into Hulk's flesh, and eerie purple flames ignited along the wound.
The zombie Hulk, having long lost his sense of pain, reached for the Frostmourne embedded in his body, trying to pull it free. His massive fist kept swinging at Garus.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Their fists clashed repeatedly. Garus yanked the sword from Hulk's body, the Power Stone embedded within it radiating a dazzling purple glow, continuing to burn Hulk from within.
Behind Garus, a barrage of missiles screamed through the air—launched by Tony's suit. However, mid-flight, they suddenly veered off course, twisting around to explode among the heroes behind him, forcing them to scatter.
It didn't take long before Hulk's massive form was half-devoured. Losing support, he collapsed onto the ground.
Escape?
Seeing the tide turn, Steve, Bullseye, and Tony attempted to flee. Though zombified, their minds retained some reasoning—this opponent was clearly beyond them. Their only hope was to retreat, call for reinforcements, and overwhelm him through sheer numbers. As long as they could land a single bite, their virus would weaken his power, making him easy prey. That was how they had taken down Galactus.
"Death's Grasp!"
Tendrils of gray mist shot out from Garus's hands, quickly ensnaring the three zombies and pulling them back.
An icy chill enveloped them, freezing their bodies. A summoning circle appeared on the ground, and a group of Nerubian Crypt Lords emerged, wrapping the captured zombies in thick webs and carrying them onto their backs.
All of this had happened in mere moments—so fast that Erik barely had time to process it.
"Erik, is the interdimensional shuttle still on the rooftop?"
Erik shook his head. "I already destroyed it—that's why I came here. Before I arrived, I think I saw Spider-Man, but by the time I got there, he was already gone."
A trace of concern crossed his face. Had Spider-Man already used the shuttle to escape into another universe?
