MARTIAL UNIVERSE: The strongest

Chapter 56: Recluse

Dreamscape…

The world had forgotten what silence was.

The skies, once endless blue, were now a shattered dome of black and crimson. Jagged rifts of bleeding light split across the heavens like divine wounds carved into the firmament. Thunder did not rumble, it screamed. A thousand wails echoed through the void between dying stars, the death cry of a universe collapsing inward.

The ground trembled. Not with earthquakes, but with the groan of entire continents cracking under an unseen, incomprehensible weight. Mountains bled into rivers of molten fire. Oceans rose as boiling towers of steam, reaching for a sky that had turned its face away. Forests had been incinerated in an instant, roots clawing at scorched soil, ancient trees snapped in mid-air as though time itself had faltered. Valleys collapsed into chasms. Sacred groves, once nurtured by generations of cultivators, turned to barren wastelands, their spiritual essence drained.

The grand sects, once shining beacons atop cloud-piercing peaks had crumbled. Their mighty temples, engraved with the runes of ancients, lay in ruin. Stone pavilions cracked. Jade towers shattered. The ancestral bells had long ceased to ring, and all that remained were broken statues and shattered spirit tablets.

And then... came the darkness.

Not a veil of night, but a living thing writhing, suffocating. It devoured not just light, but sound, color, memory itself. The sun had been blotted out by a monstrous eclipse, a pulsing, heart-like shadow that beat with the rhythm of a dying god's last breath. Each pulse brought deeper silence. Each breath made the world smaller.

Lightning slithered across the sky, blood-red, slow, sick with exhaustion. It clawed at earth that no longer responded. Craters yawned like mouths, coughing silver mist that danced in shapes too complex for mortal minds to name. The wind, cursed and twisted, howled backwards, carrying voices of forgotten aeons and echoes of names the world had forsaken.

No birds. No beasts. Even the insects had fallen silent.

This was no longer a realm.

This was the corpse of a dream, the ruin of divine memory. The echo of something that once dared to live.

And above it all… the stars blinked out.

One by one. Then came the resistance.

Divine figures descended like shooting stars, brilliant and godlike, wreathed in radiance. Yuan Power surged in cataclysmic torrents, battling back the darkness in celestial fury. Elemental tides raged, flames that burned through dimensions, ice that froze time itself, storms with voices that shattered mountains. But it was not enough.

One by one, they fell. Swallowed. Consumed.

All but one.

A lone figure stood atop the ruined plains—his silver hair billowing against a wind that no longer belonged to nature. His pure white robes were stained silver, his breathing shallow, but his sapphire eyes still burned.

Gojo.

He was a rupture in space. Reality folded and warped around his presence. Each gesture collapsed dimensions, each breath tore through barriers between realms. Around him, space spiraled like a black hole, ripping through darkness itself.

A voice pierced the madness.

"Chen Zhen!!"

He turned. Behind him, a dazzling figure of divine grace cut through the black, a goddess clad in icy blue, her aura a tempest of cosmic frost. Beside her, other ancient masters rallied, each a storm, each an incarnation of elemental law.

ROOOOAAAR!

The world quaked. Gojo turned his gaze skyward, and smiled.

Descending from the fractured clouds came a colossal dragon of purple and gold, its scales gleaming like divine armor, its roar a clarion call to existence itself. Upon its back stood a warrior cloaked in divine aura, brandishing a spear of seven colors, one for each element...

"Lin Dong! Wait—!"

Another voice urgent, desperate, called from the edge of perception. Gojo stepped forward, warping space in a burst of movement to reach the rider.

But he stopped. Something… else approached. He spun around sharply, eyes widening.

Before him stretched a sea of suspended black and white, a swirling ocean of Yin and Yang. From its heart emerged two colossal eyes, each one the size of mountains, one pure black, the other white as snow. They watched him. They moved.

They descended. Faster than thought.

And then—

Gojo's body jerked.

He gasped. He awoke. Squinting into the light of the morning sun, his breath still ragged, heart pounding like war drums.

He sat up, shaking his head and with the upper part of his robe that was hanging on the bedside, he wiped the sweat from his face..

It'd been a while two days since the end of the outer court competition. During this whole two days, Gojo had yet to even step out. He had not really been injured from the tournament due to his abnormal divine regeneration abilities, but the mental damage from the extensive use of the six eyes had drained him.

Without the Voidforge Titan Physique and the special pellets MeiYing had come over to feed him, it would've taken him longer to heal.

"This dream again.." Gojo facepalmed and then arose gently, stretching his back. Walking out of his bedroom, he picked up a white towel from a rack and hopped into the shower. After about 20 minutes, he walked out, dressed in a pair of loose pants, while he vigorously cleaned his hair with the towel, while in deep thought.

But..

KNOCK!

A knock on the door drew him out of his reverie and he walked to the door, yawning. He opened it slowly only to see MeiYing standing outside in a beautiful form fitting blue robe, her expression cold as usual, and a good basket in her hand.

"You're finally awake.." She eyed him carefully. But before she could even continue, Gojo pulled her into the room and shut the door, pinning her against the wall.

"W-what are you trying to do.." She stammered, gulping down unconsciously, as a bead of sweat dripped down her cheek. Meanwhile, Gojo leaned in closer and closer, their lips almost touching. "I'm doing what a good lover should do.." He smiled wickedly.

"I'm not your l-.."

"Shhhhh.."

She wanted to protest, but Gojo simply shut her up with a finger to her lip while he whistled. Looking right into her eyes, he kissed her forehead gently, and then turned around, picked up his towel and walked to the couch with a small smile.

MeiYing was hyperventilating, glaring towards him murderously, yet she calmed herself and took her seat, placing the food flask beside him. She breathed in multiple times and then turned towards him. "Grandfather, Sect Master and the other elders have demanded to see you..."

She said, opening the flask and taking out multiple exotic foods, pills and pellets. Gojo wasted no time and grabbed a piece of sweet honeyed bun and some meat and began feasting. He sighed contendedly resting his back against the couch in exhaustion.

"Those old fogies are so impatient..I'm not even fully recovered.." Gojo rolled his eyes. "I thought you'd be most excited to go meet them. I know you can't wait to get your hands on those generous rewards ..." MeiYing scoffed, rolling her eyes dismissively at him. A scumbag like him wouldn't even dream of passing out on those rewards, not after what he had been through..

Gojo drank from a jar of peach juice and licked his lips. "Speaking of rewards, I know the Outer Court rankings would grant me incredible rewards, but I still want the rewards from that mission though.." His brows furrowed. He wasn't going to pass up the opportunity for those rewards when he almost got killed for them in the first place.

MeiYing eyed him and nearly facepalmed. "You're so petty." Gojo raised a brow and lifted his hands in his defense. "Petty? I saved your life back there and I haven't asked for any rewards right? Which I think I should..." His eyes scrolled down her curvaceous figure like a hungry wolf which caused her to shudder and lean back anxiously.

"You! What do you want to do?!" She exclaimed, as Gojo leaned closer, but he stopped and stood up, stretching his back lazily, "I'll go see those old fogies, but before that there's someone I need to visit.." Gojo walked off the his bedroom, to dress up leaving behind a traumatized MeiYing.
