Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Martial Competition Begins
It was a bright day with the sun shining brightly. Today was 3/11/2018, a day of great importance for the Southwestern part of the Northern region of the Great Power Continent.
Today marked the beginning of the Martial Competition of the Han Dynasty. The Han Dynasty was one of the Eleven Overlords of the Southwestern part of the Northern region, ruled by the powerful Han Clan — hence the name "Han." Their main base was the Black Demon Forest.
The Martial Competition of the Han Dynasty was held every ten years. It served as a showcase for talented martial artists under the age of 20 — the age limit after which one might no longer be considered part of the younger generation.
For this competition, the Han Dynasty invited all the powerhouses near the Black Demon Forest. The remaining nine of the 10 Overlords of the Southwestern part of the Northern region were also invited. One power did not came although invitaion was sent.
This was a grand event, so the Han Dynasty made extensive preparations. After all, it was a matter of prestige for one of the Ten Overlords.
The Patriarch of the Han Dynasty, Han Man, emerged from his secluded training chamber. He was the current strongest figure of the Han Dynasty and a well-known personality throughout the Northern Region. Alongside him came all ten Elders and the seven Protectors of the Dynasty. However, the Grand Elder, Han Shan — the previous Patriarch and father of Han Man — was absent. People spoke of Han Shan as a mysterious and powerful figure, known only to the older generation and the current patriarchs of the top powerhouses in the Northern Region.
As the event was about to begin, nine groups of powerful individuals from both the old and new generations assembled before the Han Dynasty. These were the representatives of the remaining nine of the Ten Overlords. Seeing this, Patriarch Han Man went forward to greet them but frowned slightly. It was rare for the nine overlords to act in unison, but he calmed himself, knowing full well that they would not wage war against the Dynasty — the Overlord of the Ten Overlords. If they did, they would face a significant price.
Han Man greeted each of the nine patriarchs warmly."Patriarch Zhu Ming is as healthy and strong as ever," he said.Patriarch Zhu respectfully replied, "Patriarch Han Man remains as sharp-tongued as ever."In a similar fashion, the other patriarchs exchanged greetings and were welcomed into the Dynasty's domain.
Soon, other powerhouses near the Black Demon Forest arrived as well. They were welcomed by Han Man too, but not with the same respect shown to the nine overlords. Strength ruled over everything here.
Suddenly, a commotion broke out among the crowd."The Third Young Master of the Black Dragon School is a genius, reaching the 8th realm of the Body Tempering Stage at age 12!""Nah, but not as impressive as the Second Young Master of the Zhu family — one of the Ten Overlords — who reached the peak of Body Tempering at age 11!"Another voice chimed in, "Do you even know who he is? He's listed as the Demon Talent of the Northern Region and the peak genius of the Southwestern part of the Northern Region.""How can you compare him to some trash?"Laughter echoed through the crowd.
Hearing this, the Third Young Master of the Black Dragon School, Situ Yao, nearly spat blood but held back. He knew well that he and his background could not be compared to the Zhu family's Second Young Master, Zhu Yan, and the entire Zhu family.
The Martial Competition was held at the Sarring Arena of the Han Dynasty. At its center stood a huge arena, around which ten figures sat — the patriarchs of the Ten Overlords.
On the arena floor stood an elderly man, nearly 150 years old, with grey hair and a large mustache. His face was deeply wrinkled. He was one of the seven Protectors of the Han Dynasty. While martial cultivators rarely aged quickly, he had suffered a severe injury in a past battle, causing his cultivation to stagnate and leaving him physically aged. He had since become one of the protectors, but one should never underestimate his strength — despite his stagnation, he remained powerful.
The old man stepped forward and announced, "Ten years of waiting are now over. Let the Han Dynasty Martial Competition begin!"
Following this announcement, the younger generation began preparing for their matches.
Suddenly, a figure appeared in grand fashion — a boy around 10 to 12 years old, or perhaps even younger. His strength was respectable, at the 9th level of the Body Tempering Stage. Yet what drew everyone's attention was not his power, but the robe he wore — embroidered with the words Han Dynasty.
