Martial Emperor of Blue Star, Turned into a Blood Slave Girl by a Vampire Princess

vol. 1 chapter 24 - No Way Back?

Degrienne’s sharp fangs pierced deep into Catherine’s neck, and the instant the blood flooded her mouth, she completely lost control.
She bit down like a wild beast—yet drank with the desperation of an infant suckling for life.
Her hands clutched Catherine’s collar with a death grip, like a drowning man grabbing the only driftwood within reach.

The sweetness of the blood made her tremble. Each gulp filled her with warmth, strength gradually returning to her limbs.
“Mn…”
Catherine let out a soft, pleased moan. Rather than pushing her away, she held her tighter.

Her fingers slipped into Degrienne’s silver hair, caressing the nape of her neck with gentle strokes. “Finally willing to face your desire? Good girl…”
Her voice was languid, tinged with satisfaction—as if she were comforting a pup that had finally learned to feed.
“Drink. You can have as much as you want.”

Catherine continued combing through her hair with her fingers, her tone indulgent. “These past few days… you’ve starved yourself, haven’t you?”
Degrienne’s body stiffened for a brief moment, but her throat kept swallowing uncontrollably.
Scalding tears slid from the corners of her tightly shut eyes, mingling with blood and dripping onto Catherine’s dress.

She hated herself like this—
Her mind was screaming in defiance, but her body drowned in the sweetness, hopelessly intoxicated.
As the blood flowed into her, her fangs slowly retracted, and her muddled consciousness began to clear.

But the clearer her mind became, the sharper the pain.
At last, she let go and trembled as she backed away, crimson still staining her lips.
“Why…” Her voice was hoarse, tears still spilling down her cheeks. “Why did you turn me into this…”

Catherine gently wiped the blood from her lips.
“Because only like this…” she murmured, “will you belong to me forever.”
“You can’t go back now, little Degrienne.”
The taste of Catherine’s blood still lingered on Degrienne’s lips. Her tongue moved involuntarily to savor it—and then she froze.

She was… savoring it.
“Look how happy you were to drink.”
Catherine chuckled, tapping her dazed lips with a finger.

“But what if it were human blood? Do you know how many girls you’d have to drain dry to satisfy the hunger you just felt?”
Degrienne’s pupils shrank. Her throat tightened. “…How many?”
“At least five.” Catherine’s red eyes reflected her pale, stricken face. “And you’d need every last drop.”

“No…”
Degrienne shook her head violently, her voice trembling. “I can control it! You tempted me—you seduced me! I—”
“You can’t control it.”

Catherine cut her off, her voice firm and unshakable. “Just that one bite… and you lost all sense of reason, didn’t you?”
Degrienne opened her mouth, but no words came.
She lowered her gaze to her hands—

Pale skin. Sharp nails. Veins tinted with a bluish hue.
This… this couldn’t still be called human, could it?
Catherine seemed to see her hesitation. She leaned down, whispering at her ear: “Admit it. You’re ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) already bloodkin.”

Degrienne shut her eyes, her heart pounding violently.
—Maybe… she really couldn’t go back.
The realization drained the strength from her body—and Catherine caught her effortlessly, pulling her into her arms.

Her voice was soft, almost like a hypnotic lullaby. “As long as you behave… become my good little girl… I’ll cherish you.”
She lifted Degrienne’s chin, crimson eyes gazing into hers.
“A high-blood vampire only gets one chance at a First Embrace. Did you think… I used it on you just to humiliate you?”

Degrienne’s eyelashes fluttered. Catherine’s words seeped into her thoughts like warm water.
“You’re the most important person to me.”
Catherine pressed her lips to her forehead. “But you’re always so disobedient…”

Her fingers traced lightly over Degrienne’s newly healed legs. “This punishment… was because you tried to run away again, wasn’t it?”
Degrienne fell silent.
Suddenly, it dawned on her—when she obeyed, Catherine had never truly hurt her.

As the “little mistress,” her standing in the castle was second only to Catherine herself. The maids all treated her with absolute deference.
And every punishment… always followed her attempts to resist or escape.
Could it be… that she was the one in the wrong?

The thought barely formed before Degrienne sensed something off.
Something strange. In the way Catherine spoke. In the way she was starting to think.
But Catherine gave her no room to dwell on it. She suddenly bit her lip—blood flooding both their mouths.

Degrienne instinctively tried to push her away, but her body betrayed her. It went limp in Catherine’s embrace.
Catherine pressed her down, pinning her to the floor. Her cold fingers traced Degrienne’s fevered skin.
“See? The same blood flows through us now…”

Degrienne squeezed her eyes shut—but her ears turned red.
She felt confused. Torn.
She should hate this woman… so why… why did she feel so strangely safe in this moment?

She couldn’t tell anymore—was she still Chu Zhao, protector of humanity?
Or had she already become Degrienne, the girl enslaved by the ecstasy of blood?
Catherine’s rose-like scent lingered around her, gentle yet laced with danger.

Her embrace was strong, unshakable—something Degrienne found herself leaning into, involuntarily.
This woman who broke her legs, then fed her blood…
Was she a mother? A sister? Or an enemy that had to be killed?

Her thoughts grew more tangled by the second—but her body felt more and more at ease.
So Degrienne gave up thinking.
And let herself drown in the act of being devoured.

The dizziness from blood loss brought with it a strange, dreamlike liberation.
She didn’t know how much time passed, but eventually Catherine released her and kissed her forehead. “That was lovely.”
Degrienne’s eyelids drooped, heavy as lead. “…So tired.”

“Sleep.”
Catherine lifted her in a bridal carry and personally brought her back to her quarters.
The bed was soft. The blankets warm.

Degrienne sank into a half-conscious daze almost immediately.
Through the haze, she heard voices outside the door—Catherine and Isabella.
“You’re a half-blood, Isabella.”

Catherine’s voice, for once, sounded wistful. “Your mother was human. It’s no wonder you can’t fully understand us.”
“I will watch Degrienne fall… and sink deeper… but I will love her truly as well.”
“Your will is my command,” Isabella replied softly.

Their footsteps faded, and silence returned to the room.
Degrienne lay alone in bed, her mind slowly clearing.
She raised her hand, staring at her pale, slender fingers—

This body had already become fully vampiric. But what about her heart?
“I’m still human…” she whispered—but the words turned bitter on her tongue.
Even if her soul remained human, this body… this body needed blood to live.

Did that mean she really would have to do what Catherine said? Hunt down innocent girls?
A horrifying thought surfaced:
Maybe… the only way to stop that from happening… was to die.

Lightning sparked at her fingertips—crimson arcs dancing in her palm, illuminating her pale face.
All it would take… was to send that thunder straight through her heart—
