Chapter 527: Draw the Sword

Ever since he became famous, Nakagiya Osamu had never encountered someone speaking to him in such a manner, and after he was honored as the Sword Saint, it became even more unlikely.

In the past nearly twenty years, everyone in the Island Country Martial Arts World had treated Nakagiya Osamu with great respect, so today's high-and-mighty attitude from Wu Li truly angered him.

Though he was now seventy-three years old, he still held the esteemed title of Sword Saint. Now being given a three-move advantage in a sword fight was an utter disgrace.

People from Japan were either delighted or enraged, while martial artists from Hua Country were somewhat worried that Wu Li was underestimating his opponent.

Regardless, what had been said was said, and all that was left was to await the outcome.

Nakagiya Osamu looked at Wu Li, his eyes returning to calm, his right hand resting on the hilt of the sword at his waist.

Instantly, the atmosphere quieted down, and everyone unconsciously held their breath, waiting for the old Sword Saint, Nakagiya Osamu's earth-shattering strike.

Wu Li, holding a Tang Sword in his left hand, neither drew his sword first nor moved forward but stood there calmly, just a step away from the white line behind him.

That meant not only did he have to withstand Nakagiya Osamu's first three moves, but he also could not step back even once, for stepping back would take him out of the circle.

Nakagiya Osamu grasped the sword handle and slowly drew his sword.

But just as he had pulled it out a little, he pushed it back into the scabbard and started to draw again, pushing it back repeatedly.

The continuous friction sound between the blade and the scabbard resonated with a peculiar rhythm.

Everyone was drawn to Nakagiya Osamu's unique way of drawing his sword, but most could not understand the reason behind it.

"Master Yang, is there an explanation for this?"

Someone quietly asked Chasing Light Sword Yang Yu.

Among the martial artists from Hua Country present, Yang Yu had undoubtedly the highest mastery of swordsmanship, yet even he had not seen such a method of drawing a sword and could only frown and say, "I guess it's a psychological tactic. Since Master Wu said he would allow three moves, he can use this time to gradually build up power, and once ready, he'll strike."

The others nodded, understanding the concept of building up power, but at this moment, they didn't feel any change in Nakagiya Osamu's aura, perhaps due to a vast difference in their realms?

On the field, Nakagiya Osamu continued to draw his sword, still just partially pulling it out then slowly pushing it back in. Following this pattern, it was unclear when he would fully draw his sword.

Time ticked by, and after a full five minutes, Nakagiya Osamu still hadn't fully drawn his sword!

The spectators couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration, almost wishing they could rush forward and pull the sword out for Nakagiya Osamu.

"This must be a psychological tactic!"

Many people now realized that Nakagiya Osamu was using a psychological tactic.

Some initially felt such a method was rather childish, unworthy of a Sword Saint, but looking around at the others, they became startled.

All present were individuals of firm resolve and rich experience; if Nakagiya Osamu's tactic was truly that simple, how could it have affected all these people simultaneously?

"It's the sounds and rhythm!"

Someone detected the clue, then realized this method was unheard of, even more mystical than the Sound Strike and Eye Strike in martial arts.

Wu Li watched Nakagiya Osamu repeatedly draw his sword, a trace of surprise flashed across his eyes, not because the opponent's technique had taken effect on him, but because he was amazed that such a technique against the opponent existed.

Wu Li, as someone deeply involved, actually felt it more profoundly than others; Nakagiya Osamu's rhythm and speed of drawing the sword were adjusted according to Wu Li's breathing and heartbeat, first integrating with Wu Li, so as to affect Wu Li in turn!

Such a technique required a keen perception of the opponent's state without a single error in order to have the greatest effect.

It must be said that Nakagiya Osamu, as a Grandmaster of the Natural Reasoning Heart Flow, truly brought out the essence of the Natural Reasoning Heart Flow's "Anticipate the enemy" to the fullest!

Another two minutes passed and Nakagiya Osamu's sword was mostly unsheathed, just a bit away from being completely drawn.

Just as everyone unconsciously craned their necks, thinking that the next second Nakagiya Osamu would fully draw his sword, Nakagiya Osamu abruptly sheathed the blade entirely.

"Ah!"

Almost everyone watching felt a shock, a sense of loss emerging subconsciously.

And just when everyone was mentally unstable, Nakagiya Osamu drew his sword!

Clang!

With a crisp sound of sword singing, a streak of light flashed by, Nakagiya Osamu had his sword out of its sheath, stepping forward, swinging his right arm horizontally—a simple slash, yet the speed of this sword-drawing was even faster than Yang Yu with his Chasing Light Sword that had been accumulated for three years!

Clang!

Another sound of a blade being drawn quickly followed, slightly less shrill and more robust, Wu Li's Tang Sword had been drawn.

Everyone's mind was unsettled, but Wu Li was completely unaffected, facing Nakagiya Osamu's horizontal slash, Wu Li's response was just as simple, his sword tilting and slashing horizontally against the slash!

Clang!!!

A visible spark flew by as the two blades clashed in mid-air, Wu Li's Tang Sword didn't pause at all, instantly overpowering Nakagiya Osamu's sword.

Nakagiya Osamu after all was seventy-three years old, even if he could still have Grandmaster Level explosive speed with his muscle bone power, when it came purely to strength, he was more than a match under Wu Li.

Nakagiya Osamu was clearly aware of this, so his first sword move was not so simple.

The blade recoiled from the collision and then swiftly brushed against the blade of Wu Li's Tang Sword.

Wu Li's Tang Sword vibrated as Nakagiya Osamu, in that instant, quickly tapped the blade thrice with his sword, each tap at a different point, perfectly leveraging Wu Li's muscle bone power to 'push' and try to force Wu Li's Tang Sword open, leaving Wu Li completely exposed.

The speed and cleverness of Nakagiya Osamu's move was truly exquisite, had it been anyone else—even a Sword Master like Yang Yu—they would likely have revealed a flaw within that move which could have been life-threatening.

However, Wu Li, being the World's No.1 master, in that split-second, forcefully stopped the trajectory of his Tang Sword, as if he had forcibly stopped a runaway sports car just before it veered off the track, relying on absolute explosive power!

Nakagiya Osamu saw this and showed no surprise, because that was exactly the moment he was waiting for!

His long sword twisted, fiercely thrusting towards the hand Wu Li held his sword with.

This thrust was meticulously calculated against Wu Li's exertions, choosing an exceedingly clever point of impact. Had Nakagiya Osamu aimed for Wu Li's throat or chest, vital areas, with Wu Li's reflexes and speed, he would only need to move his wrist to block it with the sword.

But Nakagiya Osamu specifically targeted the arm Wu Li held his sword with, Wu Li would have to coordinate his forearm which, having been overly strained to stop the blade just before, was in a rigid state. Although it would take less than 0.1 seconds to adjust, Nakagiya Osamu was competing for this split second of difference!
