Married to the One Who Is Not Human

Chapter 11: Chapter 11

The darkness completely swallowed the last glimmer of light on the horizon, and Yanyue Mountain Villa was once again engulfed by night.

The people inside the house looked at the thick darkness spreading outside the door and keenly sensed the uncomfortable aura in the darkness, quietly raising their guard.

Someone hesitantly asked, "Should we go out?"

Last night, they had plunged in without any precautions, their minds clouded, nearly falling victim to the demonic forces of Yanyue Mountain Villa.

Xu Xiu Jue, Chen Qingfeng, and Zuo Ling Shuang had already made their decision.

At this point, there was no room for retreat. Even if they chose to stay hidden, the lurking threats would not allow them to remain concealed.

Sure enough, the faint sound of drums and gongs echoed in the distance, drifting faintly.

Everyone shuddered, unable to help but recall last night's wedding.

Someone peered out the window and their pupils contracted slightly. They exclaimed in surprise, "Look, outside..."

It wasn't just him; the others had also noticed the changes outside.

In an instant, the darkness enveloping the mountain villa vanished, and the villa seemed to return to normal—yet it was also highly unusual.

The damp spring rain had disappeared, revealing a bright spring night scene.

Red lanterns hung high in the courtyard and under the corridors, their lights twinkling, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the villa, strikingly similar to last night. Yanyue Mountain Villa was about to celebrate a joyous occasion.

The crowd speculated, "Could it be another wedding?"

"Are you all feeling well? Are you awake?"

"How could we not be awake? We're all inside the house now, not transformed into guests, sitting obliviously in the main hall, preparing to watch the wedding."

Speaking of this, everyone couldn't help but think of last night's events.

If it weren't for the bride's veil being blown open by a gust of wind, breaking the spell and waking them from their trance, who knows what might have happened afterward.

As for that gust of wind, they later realized it must have been the work of Ji Yuyu, the young master of the Ji family.

Ji Yu was the only one who remained lucid at the time.

This outcome was unexpected, yet not entirely surprising. Though the world deemed her a useless fool, she was still the young master of the Ji family. To have secured that position, she must possess qualities beyond the ordinary.

Upon noticing the changes at Yanyue Mountain Villa, their consciousness was clear, and everyone hesitated.

Xu Xiu Jue whispered, "Should we go out?"

"I'm afraid we have no choice but to go out," Zuo Ling Shuang said solemnly. "Staying inside doesn't mean we're safe."

Chen Qingfeng looked serious. "Master Zuo is right. Now that the darkness has receded, if we can see the state of Yanyue Mountain Villa from here, it means that it's indeed safe inside, and we can't hide."

Ji Yu glanced at the three of them.

Among the demon exorcists who had come to Yanyue Mountain Villa this time, they were the strongest, the next generation that the Chen family, Xu family, and the Demon Exorcism Alliance had high hopes for.

These three had considerable prestige among the disciples of their respective families, so everyone listened to their words, but...

The sound of gongs and drums grew closer, seeming to be heading this way.

Everyone's hearts were in their throats as they stared intently at the door.

The deafening sound of drums and gongs grew louder, and a lively wedding procession arrived at the guest courtyard. At the front was Yue Shaohua, the young master of Yueyue Mountain Villa, dressed in the attire of a groom. It was the groom himself coming to迎え the bride.

Seeing this scene, everyone felt a sense of relief.

It seemed that there would be another wedding tonight.

The demon exorcists present understood the situation and found it somewhat troublesome: "What should we do? Are we supposed to attend the wedding?"

"If we don't attend, those demons might attack wildly. We need to stabilize them first and find the real culprit."

"Exactly. Otherwise, we won't even know who the culprit is, and we won't be able to solve the problem, only adding to the casualties."

Faced with this situation, experienced demon exorcists would remain on standby, seeking out the truth behind Yanyue Mountain Villa, finding the culprit causing the chaos, and eliminating them, thus resolving the issue.

  However, the problem now was...

"The young master of the Chen family has come to迎亲. Who is the bride?"

Upon hearing this, all the demon hunters present instinctively looked toward the direction of the Chen family disciples, their gaze landing on Chen Qingzhe.

Chen Qingzhe's face was pale, whether from unhealed injuries or something else was unclear.

Seeing everyone staring at him, his face alternated between pale and red with anger. He shouted, "Don't even think about it!"

A disciple of the Demon-Slaying Alliance standing beside Zuo Ling Shuang tried to persuade him, "Chen Daoyou, you've already been a bride once before. What's wrong with being one again?"

"That's right, that's right. Chen Daoyou, rest assured. We'll all help you. You won't be at a disadvantage."

"With Jiang Da Ren here, you don't have to worry about actually getting married."

  "..."

However, no matter how everyone tried to persuade him, Chen Qingzhe refused to agree.

Especially with Jiang Shiqiu present, he was even more unwilling to agree. Jiang Shiqiu and Ji Yu were married, so his heart naturally leaned toward Ji Yu. He feared Jiang Shiqiu might take this opportunity to seek revenge on him.

Last night, Jiang Shiqiu had already done so, and the injuries on his body had not yet healed, causing him considerable suffering.

Jiang Shiqiu smiled as he watched the scene, then leaned over and whispered to Ji Yu, "My wife, who do you think would make a good bride?"

The breath brushed past her ear, causing her pale earlobe to flush slightly.

Ji Yu shifted uncomfortably to the side and cautiously replied, "It depends on which one Yue Shaohua wants to marry."

Jiang Shiqiu stared at her pink ear tips, finding them utterly adorable, and chuckled, "Wife, what do you think of this young man as the bride?"

He pointed at Chen Qingzhe.

Ji Yu: "…It's fine."

Seeing her approval, Jiang Shiqiu's eyes were filled with laughter, "My wife is indeed in tune with her husband's heart. Let this young man be the bride tonight."

He looked amused, his expression playful, with a carefree air about him.

The demon exorcists nearby who heard the couple's conversation were speechless.

Was this really not intentional revenge?

Looking at Chen Qingzhe, he seemed like a virtuous man forced into prostitution, his handsome face flushed with anger. Unfortunately, even if he refused, he couldn't go against the consensus of everyone present, not even the Chen family disciples could say anything.

After all, Chen Qingzhe had been chosen as the bride last night, which showed that the demon was satisfied with him. It was better to let him be the bride again than to have two masters.

Chen Qingfeng glanced at Jiang Shiqu, who was smiling at them, and advised, "Qingzhe, just agree."

"I don't want to! I refuse to marry a male ghost! I'm a man—how can I be a bride!" Chen Qingzhe shouted in shame and anger.

The other Chen family disciples added, "What's the big deal? You're beautiful, and that Moon Young Master prefers beautiful women. We're not as good-looking as you, so even if we wanted to help you, we couldn't."

The last part of that statement was a bit insincere, as they secretly rejoiced that their parents had raised them to be relatively safe, not beautiful enough to attract the attention of demons.

Chen Qingzhe couldn't help but fly into a rage, pointing at Ji Yu: "She's even more..."

Before she could finish, Chen Qingfeng covered her mouth and pushed her into the inner room to change clothes.

The other Chen family disciples were also sweating profusely, feeling utterly speechless.

Saying in front of Jiang Shiqiu that his wife was more beautiful, and suggesting she become someone else's bride and marry another man—even someone with the best temperament would likely lose their composure. Moreover, Jiang Shiqiu's temperament was far from exemplary. Other matters could be overlooked, but when it came to his wife, he would not hesitate to cause trouble.

This was everyone's deeply ingrained "impression." Jiang Shiqu was deeply in love with Ji Shaozhu and was even willing to marry into the Ji family for her. His wife, Ji Yu, was Jiang Shiqu's Achilles' heel.

Seeing Chen Qingzhe being taken away to change clothes, Jiang Shiqu's gaze turned cold as he said to Ji Yu, "Wife, I don't like him. Can I kill him?"

  Ji Yu: "..."

Ji Yu stared at him stiffly, unsure of what to say.

Ji Shiqu burst into laughter and said, "Wife, I was joking. Did I scare you?"

His tone was gentle as he gently stroked her face, as if genuinely sorry for scaring her.

Ji Yu's expression was forced, for in that moment, she had truly sensed the cold killing intent emanating from him. The more he smiled, the heavier the killing intent became.

This was a capricious demon, whose mood was impossible to predict.

Soon, Chen Qingzhe, dressed in a bride's gown, was dragged out.

Seeing Chen Qingzhe dressed as a bride, even those who knew his true gender couldn't help but blush, their eyes secretly glancing toward Ji Yu.

The siblings did indeed look very much alike; they had inherited the beauty of the former first-ranked handsome man of Yunjing, Shang Yunxiao. However, Chen Qingzhe was a man, and no matter how beautiful he was, he was still a man.

  But Ji Yu was not.

If the one dressed as the bride were the young master Ji...

Before they could indulge in their fantasies, the wedding procession had already entered, led by Yue Shaohua, whose eyes were fixed intently on his bride.

The bride Chen Qingzhe felt both ashamed and angry. He had been silenced by a spell and couldn't speak, his face flushing red with frustration.

However, in Yue Shaohua's eyes, this blush was the shyness of a new bride, and he was quite satisfied.

"My wife, I've come to take you to get married," he said affectionately.

Chen Qingzhe: "..." Ah ah ah!!! I want to kill someone... I want to kill a ghost!

Chen Qingzhe reluctantly climbed into the wedding palanquin.

  The others hurriedly followed behind.

Jiang Shiqiu and Ji Yu walked slowly at the back.

Jiang Shiqiu held her hand and said tenderly, "My wife, that young man doesn't even come close to your beauty... No, no, no, he's not even worthy of tying your shoes! In my heart, you are one of a kind. There is no one in this world who can compare to you..."

Ji Yu listened to his sweet words and felt utterly disgusted.

Was she too inexperienced? Or did demons nowadays use sweet talk to conquer hearts, engaging in romantic affairs before killing their victims?

What a cruel way to kill the heart before the body.
