Chapter 327: Elara
"I swear we've been walking forever" Leon took a labourous breath as he scaled a rocky path infront of him. They had been walking for hours now and it was getting dark.
Yet she hadn't picked a single berry, it was frustrating.
"Ahh, you'd think a warlock would understand how delicate the art of picking berries is…..just keep your eyes out" Elara hearing Leon.m complain said rather lazily as she caused her floating chair to reappear then sat on it.
"At least tell me what we're really here for" Leon grumbled, but unfortunately, Elara didn't seem to care she just kept pushing forward through the mountains with Leon en tow.
Meanwhile.
"Transversing the western mountains is a very dangerous affair, as it is one of the very few zones with Beasts roaming around. Which of you can tell me what happened with the beasts of finor"
Moving through two massive rock slabs, a class of students wearing similar uniforms made their way down a slope with looks on intrigue and excitement on their faces.
"Ouu I know that one, the beasts of finor were hunted down by that race of beast kin called the warlocks, they got so mad with power and ended up killing several generations of beasts using them for rituals and eventually leading to a 90% decline in their population"
A young man with black hair and a single gold highlight running down from his head spoke confidently.
"But thanks to the human kings quick actions we were able to save a good number of these beast and place them in secure zones while we took care of the malicious warlock scum"
The history of what really happened varied from person to person of course, the central continent was filled with varying levels of propaganda.
"Good, that about sums it up. At least some of you are listening in class" The teacher in front commented.
They were currently on an excursion through the mountains, it was routine for the younger generations to at least scale the mountains for their second year in the school so dispite how dangerous it was….this was quite normal.
"Let's take a turn here, we will witness the first beast habitats in a few minutes" as they reached the base of the mountain the teacher said coyly turning to the left and moving forward.
"Hey, did you hear about what happened with Morgran? Heard your brother gave him a beating because of a failed mission yesterday"
Inside the group of students, a young man walked forward and spoke in the ear of a girl with pink hair.
"How do you even get all this news? We spend weeks going from class to dorm not having a lot of time for ourselves. But you seemed to always have something to gossip about" the young girl turned to her side with an akward expression on her face.
They were all students of the elemental school, one of the 5 giants of finor. They were the cream of the crop of mages in the entire world, most of their time was spent trying to get stronger. Such gossips were beneath them.
"Come on Sema, you know the central continent is fraught with politics, information is crucial, especially for someone like you who has such a strong brother" the young man commented with a coy smile.
Sema here was sort of the class princess, in the fact that she and her older brother were insane talents that the school valued highly. Getting close to her was what everyone wanted so the moment he heard this news he went straight to her.
Morgran was no small fry, he was an insanely powerful figure, hearing her brother have an upper hand against him must be thrilling at least. But she seemed rather nonchalant after hearing it. It was quite a disappointing reaction.
"Okay, we're very close, now please stick together and maintain an appropriate distance as we few the creatures movements" the teacher at the front commanded as soon as they reached a ledge hovering over a rocky canyon with a straight view of a cave in the mountains.
(Why are there so many monsterous aura around us? Are we walking to our deaths?)
Inside of Leon's head, the annoying voice of Levi resounded as he slithered out of Leon's robes and poked its head out.
After walking through the mountains for a few hours, Leon had started to realize that this was more than met the eyes.
He had in a few hours passed by several threatening auras, much more monsterous than he had seen though out his stay on finor.
"Picking berries huh?" Leon smirked bitterly as he watched Elara looking at a massive cave in front. The cave was pitch black, and even he couldn't peer into it dark void.
Unfortunately, he could sense every fluctuation of auras in a 5 kilometer radius and each of them were gut wrenching.
"Wait here, these berries might be a little too strong for you to pick, when I'm done here we can head back" Elara seated comfortably on her chair turned to Leon and said a rather calm look on her face.
"Ohhh, that's okay. I can wait" Leon nodded, it wasn't like he was going to help her "pick berries" in the first place. Whatever those berries were.
Hearing Leon, Elara simply nodded back then with a causal look caused her chair to float upwards and hover towards the cave slowly.
A second later she was engulfed in the darkness permeating from the cave and disappeared all together.
(Will see be alright?)
From Leon's chest, Levi asked a look of concern pasted on his face.
Elara looked physical inept, she could barely walk, her eyes were filled with laziness and piose. She was a libararian after all.
"She called it picking berries, I can only assume that she knows what she's doing" Leon commented quite dryly.
When he first met Elara, he had been scared shitless by her aura, but it seemed to disappear a moment later like as if she was normal.
He couldn't sense a single fluctuation, and there could only be two reasons for it.
It was either that he had made a mistake or been misled when he first saw her, or she was just so strong that he couldn't activately sense her power.
Whatever the case might be, they would find out in a few seconds.
And find out they did, as in the next few seconds, roars of pain started echoing from within in the cave….these did not belong to Elara
