Chapter 6: Dead Space, Necromorphs, and a Marker to hate (Part 5)
Scott
I pulled myself back to my standing height and looked down at Millie, the now rather perfect version of what she could be at her peak. Still standing at her three feet, she was perfectly red again, as every scar she had ever gotten was wiped clean as if she had never had it in the first place. Her horns were also fixed, pristine, and even her teeth were all perfectly aligned like a razor-sharp blender. The body tune-up also completely wiped away any Internal injuries, even before coming to this hellish world. She seemed to feel this as she stretched, feeling out her perfectly sculpted imp body.
"Alright, while I'm not thrilled about being owned, I will say that this fresh start of a body is fucking fantastic," Millie said while giving herself a look. She then pulled her loose pants down to show both of us the womb tattoo that was now there. Sitting perfectly dead center above her pussy was a classic hentai womb tattoo with my initials inside the heart at the center of the tattoo. "Hmm, kind of plain, no?" Millie said while looking up at me. I sighed and pulled open the company app, doing a small amount of work. A second later, the tattoo transformed into a demonic ram skull with black, demon-like wings that dripped with blood. Still in the center of the skull's forehead, where my initials are just in a smaller text.
"There, I can personally design each tattoo on my companions. Is that better?" I asked, and she giggled with a nod at the more badass design. Nodding, I closed the app and waved for her to follow as I put back my helmet. She did with her knife at the ready, and we both headed back down the ramp and through the now slowed, malfunctioning door. Millie gazed at the effect I had caused and gave me a look.
"Any chance I could get that power you got now, hon?" she asked before looking over my suite in general. "Any chance we could get me a suit like that as well?"
"Probably, there are plenty of dead on the ship that we can find another stasis module. The suit I'll probably hit up a shop for, hopefully it can be retrofitted to your size, if not...I'll figure something out." I answered as I held my focus more forward as we walked up the sloped hallway that exited into the middle of another hallway. On one side was the door to fixing the tram, while the other was to the tram deck and the medical area. The hallway was quiet, and with slow steps, I started my walk to the tram repair station with Millie's shoeless feet slapping against the metal floor right behind me. Glancing down at her, I saw that she had instinctively watched my back as she faced down the hallway while back-stepping. I smiled in both relief at the extra body to watch for hidden threats, but also at the fact that I wasn't alone in general anymore. I may have mental resistance, but that doesn't mean I won't personally go slightly bonkers by just being by myself.
We made it to the door when the hallway's system seemed to shut down, and the lights went out while some sort of psychic blast screamed through the ship. I felt it try to penetrate my mind, but with effort, I forced it out and saw that Millie had done the same. "Fuck, that was terrible. Was that the marker?" she asked, and I nodded as we watched the hallway for any movement before the system kicked back on and the doors unlocked. It happened soon enough, and it seemed that the marker considered the mental blast to be enough to cause us to start going insane, or that sending any necromorphs towards the area while it did the attack might have killed them. I never really knew, but I also did not care as I opened the door and we both walked into the tram repair station.
"Okay, vents are there, there, and there," I said while waving to each place that was a point of entry for a threat. "I'll switch out the tram, you watch my back with this," while handing her the Plasma cutter. She took it, and I quickly gave her a simple run-down on how to shoot the damn thing. With that done, I got to work, and work it was, as the system was practically automated, it was also streamlined for the game and not real life. I had to actively go through the system to select the new tram, actively file a reason for the replacement due to legal reasons that were coded into the ship's maintenance system, and finally scan the old tram for the damage. This took a bit of time, and thankfully, no necro had come to kill us yet, but when all was said and done on the digital front, and we moved onto the physical replacement?
"Scott, they're coming!" Millie shouted as every single vent started to sound out the clacking and banging of the necros inside of them.
"Almost done!" I shouted while activating the good clamp to grab the damaged tram. This, of course, signaled the first necros to burst out of the vents, on every fucking side, and rush us. I heard Millie start to fire on her side, but didn't dare look to see how she was doing, as on my side, I had two necros heading right for me. I didn't wait as I let my stress defense and growing Martial talent lead me as I ran right at them. With a blast of stasis, the two necros froze into slow motion and allowed me to stomp on the closest one's knee, breaking its leg off, complete with my heavy-suited boot. While I did that, I grabbed one of its blade arms and physically tore the limb off. With that done, I spun to get a bit of distance from the slowly speeding up necros before ramming the blade arm through the first and into the second like some sick kabab. Then, with all my strength, I physically lifted the two up and over the rail to fall below.
Millie's firing died out, and now that I had no threat in front of me, I chanced a glance to see the imp had taken out her threats and was aiming in my direction to back me up. The smile on her lips told me she had witnessed my little performance, making me smirk in my helmet before quickly dashing over to activate the damaged clamp. Already knowing what to do, I hit it with stasis before activating the system control. With smooth ease, the clamp latched down slowly enough that the glitch in the system didn't cause it to auto-release before the tram was locked in and unable to be released.
"Second wave!" Millie shouted out as new necro morphs started to crawl out of the vents.
"Meet me in the middle and give me back the cutter," I shouted back as we both headed to the main system that was between the two clamp controls. She tossed me back the Cutter, and I checked to see that it still had half a charge. Quickly, I tapped the tram control system, which was present during my digital slog work, and activated the replacement program. Then I shifted to the nearest coming necros on Millie's side and hit them with stasis before flicking myself a hundred and eighty degrees to aim at the necro that was mid-leap at my body. Wasting another charge, I hit it with stasis and caused it to freeze mid-flight.
With growing proficiency, I fired off all its limbs and then started to cut down the next few behind it. When the last one went down, I discharged the empty battery and loaded up a fresh one before turning to see Millie's knife deep in necro limbs as she cut through them like they were nothing. Seeing she had everything in hand, I turned back to my side to make sure no new necros showed up. Thankfully, it seemed that the damn things were done with the ambush and hopefully called back. Calming down after Millie finished off her last necro, we both waited for the tram to finish being replaced.
"So~ what exactly is the plan here, Scott? Like, how do we get the fuck out of this, uhh, Universe?" Millie asked me as she wiped her blade off on a clean patch of her now blood-soaked attire.
I sighed and answered. "Well, if I had my stamp and time, we would go tap necromorphs to earn enough credits to get the exit stage left power, then complete the fucking game, then get the fuck out of here to whatever next world is selected. Instead, due to me selling the thing for some much-needed points so I wouldn't go crazy, I selected a mission that will give me points for every in-game achievement I get."
"How many credits per achievement?" she asked.
Frowning, I looked down with a sigh. "Five for each one, which will allow me to buy the upgrade...but will also take forever to grab any meaningful power boost for us."
"And shit's gonna get much harder, isn't it?" she asked, and I nodded.
"So much fucking harder, you have no idea," I said while the new tram was slotted into place. Worst part is that this world doesn't follow game logic, so things that took seconds are going to take fucking minutes, plus things could go wrong in other ways given the randomness of life."
"Well, shit," Millie said to punctuate my words before a call came through. I held up a finger to my helmet, and Millie nodded in understanding. Opening up the coms, I heard Daniels.
"Scott! Thank God! I thought we lost you after it took so long." The woman shouted out in relief. The tram is fixed now, though, which means we can head out. Good thing two because I'm hearing shit around us, like we're being watched."
"Yeah, I'm still kicking," I said with a chuckle. "I'm heading back to the tram control station to call it back to you guys right now. Stay safe." I said before I hung up the call. Looking over to Millie, I nodded, and she returned it with her own before we both started back the way we came.

As Scott and I moved down the hallway, I sighed internally. The one thing I hid and fought against had happened to me anyway. Sure, I didn't know what exactly I was trying to run away from when Hell went to...hell, but my instincts were spot on enough to prove it was the right choice. Yet, I was left in a place where I would have died if not for Scott saving me. Then I was told that the only way to get back was to become Scott's slave wife, which didn't wrinkle my thoughts as much as it did before I agreed. Which meant the system was fucking with my mind, and thus once again causing me to internally sigh once more.
Shaking my head, I looked up at my now new and permanent lover, and had to at least be glad he was both honest and just as fucked over as me. I was also glad he wasn't a wimp who expected me to carry him through this shit now that he had me. I had seen a few glimpses of the other agents of this company, and all of them seemed to let their slave wives and husbands do the work for them. Scott, though, just wanted me to watch his back as he watched mine.
"Never thought I'd let a human dick me down though," I mumbled to myself softly enough that Scott didn't pick it up. Licking my lips, I remembered his taste and had to admit I liked it, and he hadn't even bought a sex power yet to boot. The trek back wasn't too bad, a fucking different kind of necro slithered above us when we had exited the tram repair station, but Scott just eyed it while continuing to walk.
"It can't attack us from where it is, just be careful for an ambush in the future," he said as the fucking thing screeched at us before slithering to what I assumed was a vent so it could attack us. When we exited the downward sloping hallway and through the malfunctioning door, Scott prematurely aimed down the way. This made me tense for a fight, but only a single gore monster crawled out of the vent in front of us. It had a sickly glow of green to it and seemed to start coughing something up, but Scott just gunned it down in a sound before shifting his next to the side.
"I know a few spawn points in the game that were used as jump scares for players," Scott said while we walked over the twitching necro. "Like I already said, though, this is the real world, so I know most won't be the same, but if you see me flinch and get ready even if there's nothing there, or I ask you to get ready, just assume that's-FUCK!" Scott screamed as he opened the door to the tram control station, a necro was waiting on the other side. His reflexes were fast, though, and he managed to shift enough that he paired the blade arm that was gunning for his head with his plasma cutter. He even fired a shot off that took off a chunk of its waist.
"Scott!" I screamed reflexively as I dashed ahead with my knife. With a knee dive, I slid under both Scott's and the monster's legs before swinging and cutting clean through the human bone and tendons of the monster's left leg, which brought it to the ground. I followed up by spinning and cutting clean through both of its arm blade joints, leaving it practically dead already. Scott took his brass tax, however, by shoving his plasma cutter into its mouth, before angling up and away from me, and shooting the top of its head clean off.
"Fuck!" Scott said again as the creature slumped to the ground uselessly. He was breathing a bit heavy before taking a solid breath and centering himself back to normal. "You know what, just...always be ready, Millie. While we're on this fucking death ship, just always be fucking ready," he said while looking down at me. I nodded with a serious expression. He nodded back before walking into the room proper. "Alright, I'm gonna call the tram, and two of the people who came with me are going to be coming out to get on it. I hate to say this, but I need you to hide where they can't see you, Millie. Imps aren't exactly something normal to see here.
"K," I said easily as I simply sat on the ground and let my feet rest. Scott then called on the tram, had a conversation with the two about heading back to the ship they came on, and having him fix it up while they head to the flight deck. The call ended pretty quickly, and I got back to my feet. Soon, Scott led me through a door and into a new hallway, his gun ready for anything. I was also ready with my hellblade, but that didn't stop me from talking, as I did have a thought. "Okay, so...question?" I asked, making him look at me. "Why are we going to need to fix the big ship, if we could just fix the one that you all came in on?" I asked as I felt like that was the easiest thing to do. He shook his head.
"We won't have time, as the necros are going to blow it up, the best we can hope to do is drag Johnson out of the ship, and keep her somewhere safe until we can leave with her."
"What?" I questioned his answer. He chuckled as he aimed at a creak in the metal around us.
"You saw how the necros seemed to know how to ambush?" he asked me.
"Yeah?" I answered.
"Well, that's because the marker is telling them to do that, as it holds an intelligence like a hive mind with the things. It knows that our damaged ship is a way off, so its best bet is to destroy it so it can keep us here to die to the necros." I blinked at that news as it made me just all kinds of pissed off.
"So you're telling me that on top of the fucking monsters trying to kill us, the marker fucking with our minds, and being outnumbered by a whole fucking ship of them. They also have the Markers' tactical super brain that gives them perfect ambush strategies?" I said with a scowl. He looked back at me with his blank face plate, his hidden grin somehow still showing through.
"Now you're starting to understand how fucked we both are," he said before looking ahead.
