Magus Supremacy

Chapter 497: Sudden turn of events!

"Damn!" The man on the rooftop muttered as he watched the intense battle unfold, forced to remain an observer and not interfere. His mouth was left slightly agape at the different highlights of the fight, each clash more unbelievable than the last.

"If I didn't know better, I would swear Rivock is the true heir of the Waterfall Clan and not Mada. His strength is terrifying, almost like witnessing Gunther when he goes into a frenzy.

At this level of power, if Gunther refuses to step up as the figurehead of the Aetherian Faction—and I'm certain he won't, then Rivock would snatch that seat right out of Mada's hands. It should rightfully belong to him, but strength speaks louder than bloodline here.

And Rivock has that strength. Even as a stage 6 warrior at such a young age, he's already surpassing expectations. How old is he again? Right. Eighteen. Sheesh!" The man shook his head slowly, his eyes fixed on the battle without missing a single beat.

'I was right,' Grey thought as his gaze lingered on the chaotic exchange before him. 'I haven't joined in, nor have I contributed, because I need to see every move. If I want to take revenge on all the direct descendants, I need to measure their true strength for myself.

Damn it! It's good I didn't rush in earlier, because Rivock would have crushed me completely. The way he's handling that beast, one on par with a Saint-ranked creature, is insane. I couldn't even dream of doing that right now.

I need to grow stronger… much stronger. Stage 3 at the bare minimum, maybe even stage 4. And awakening my lightning magic is a must. Without both, I stand no chance against Rivock. Still… this feels overwhelming, even for me.'

"Why aren't we helping?" Liam asked, his voice breaking the silence, concern clear in his tone.

"Is there anything you can do? Are you strong enough to even step in?" Grey replied coldly, his eyes never leaving the battlefield.

Silence answered him. Liam clenched his fists tightly, frustration burning in his chest. He knew the truth—he was too weak to make a difference.

"Just as I thought," Grey muttered with a click of his tongue. "If two stage 4 warriors plus Rivock are struggling, what exactly can a stage 2 warrior like you hope to accomplish?"

"That's enough. No need to rub it in," Liam scoffed angrily, but his retort was cut short when his eyes widened in horror. The battle had suddenly taken a dangerous turn, so sharp that his heart skipped a dozen beats at once.

After enduring the endless barrage of Ki attacks from Rivock, the beast suddenly blitzed forward with overwhelming speed, appearing right in front of the descendant. Its claws tore through the air, aimed mercilessly at Rivock's abdomen.

"Nope! No, you don't!" Noelle shouted fiercely as she swung her whip.

It snapped forward with a vicious whoosh, snaking through the air until it lashed around the Lycan's claws, holding them in place. But despite her effort, she couldn't fully restrain the monster's power.

Growl!

The beast let out a guttural snarl, its crimson eyes narrowing at her. Then, with a violent jerk, it yanked its arm forward. Noelle gasped as her feet left the ground, her body hurled helplessly through the air.

"Shit!" she hissed, quickly letting go of the whip mid-flight. Twisting her body, she landed smoothly on her feet, though the eight-meter-long whip still dangled from the beast's claws.

Her interference hadn't stopped the monster, but it was enough to create an opening. Rivock wasted no time, swirling Ki around his feet and launching himself forward. His strike connected cleanly, his kick smashing into the beast's abdomen and sending it hurtling through the air.

But instead of slamming into the ground, the beast landed sharply on its feet, unbothered, its posture steady.

"Thanks, Rivock," Mada's voice cut in as he suddenly appeared beside the creature, his sword mid-swing.

The beast reacted instantly, sensing the killing intent. It spun around, claws outstretched, meeting Mada's blade head-on.

RING!!!

The metallic clash echoed like thunder, resonating across the battlefield. Both sides stood locked in position, neither overpowering the other.

Normally, Mada would have been sent flying from such a collision. But this time, he anchored himself with precision, focusing his Ki into two vital points—his hands gripping the sword and his feet firmly planted on the ground. His stance refused to budge, the air around him trembling from the strain.

The deadlock was far from over.

"Now!" Mada roared, and instantly a bang cracked as Rivock appeared above the beast's shoulders.

A long sword made entirely of Ki materialized in his grip and, without wasting time, he swung it directly at the beast's neck hoping to slice it off.

The beast opened its maw wide. A glint appeared in its eyes as it fixed Rivock with a horrible stare, and then…

AWHOOOOO!

A long, loud howl ripped from its throat. A mass of swirling shadows and a tremendous shockwave shot out and slammed into Rivock with immense force.

"ARGHHHH!" Rivock roared as blood spurted from his mouth. His pupils dilated, his ears began to bleed, and under the pressure of the shockwave he was hurled into the air.

His body rolled and tumbled across the ground, spasming and bleeding. Mada and every other person froze in horror.

"Oh shit! Rivock!" Mada shouted as he turned to look at his friend, who had been hurled away.

That momentary lapse was all the Lycan needed. While Mada glanced away, the beast lunged. Its massive head slammed into the descendant, and then…

BAM!

It slammed into his face, creating a mini shockwave. Blood burst from the descendant's head and his body flew back, striking a stall.

On a nearby rooftop, a man muttered, "Fuck! This is not good," preparing to move, but someone else had already acted. That was the person who caught his attention.

"Grey! What the hell do you think you are doing? Didn't you say we are too weak to do anything? Where are you headed?!" Ray shouted as he saw the warrior mage walking forward.

'I don't know if I can make much of a difference, but I have to try,' Grey thought, staring at the beast as it advanced toward Rivock, intent on finishing the descendant off.

Grey moved with sudden speed. He planted his feet, drawing Ki into the soles and compressing it until it felt like loaded springs under his skin. The air around him tightened, wind beginning to coil and howl in response to the pressure he built.

"Oh no you don't! They are mine to kill, not yours!" Grey thundered as he leaned forward, swirling and compressing Ki at his feet. In the next second…

BANG!

He shot off like a released bolt.
