Chapter 490: Rivock a stage 6 warrior?
"That's right, come to daddy. Let daddy school you all on how to be more beasty." Rivock's smile widened as the beasts' footsteps pounded on the ground, echoing out like a beating drum as they hungrily charged at him.
In a second, the beasts were upon him. They were so many that Rivock could hardly be seen under the wave of bodies because the fifty monsters surrounded him, totally sealing off any escape route.
Not like he planned to escape anyway, because right now, he had finally untucked his hands from his pockets.
His gaze hardened, and there was no trace of his usual creepy smile. The air changed as a hint of seriousness washed over the area.
Even the beasts felt it for a second and they collectively took a step back but quickly regained their composure.
"The Waterfall Clan has been the rulers of Aetherian Faction due to their strong and powerful leader. It has been on for so long, and we need a change." Rivock began speaking as if the beasts could hear and understand him.
"Because of that, we have been trained over and over again. My father didn't even spare us, his kids, as the moment we began walking, we were shot off into training. He was so obsessed with becoming the leader of the Aetherian Faction that the obsession has been passed over to me.
Every day, I trained harder than anybody, and from a young age, I totally surpassed my elder brothers, earning me the title of a beast. Now I ask you puny little monsters," he said as he took a stance, his eyes narrowing down like a slit.
"Can you handle the power of a stage 6 warrior?"
AWHOOOOO!
The beasts all howled in unison and charged towards Rivock.
"As I thought." He muttered as the air began trembling. Around his hand, a yellow light began to show, and instantly, a long yellow Ki Sword appeared in his grasp.
Quickly, the first victim appeared, and Rivock didn't waste time. Blinking in front of it, his Ki Sword moved through the air like a phantom, causing the Lycan's head to drop down with a thud.
Bang, Bang, Bang!
Three consecutive bangs echoed out in the whole place as ten of the beasts attacked in unison. Rivock's legs began glowing faintly as he swirled all his Ki to his feet, and in an instant, he looked to have teleported.
A few seconds later, he appeared and with him, the ten beasts' heads dropped down with a loud thud, causing the remaining thirty-nine beasts to halt their footsteps.
All the hairs on their bodies rose up as if they could see a monster in front of them.
"Nowhere to hide, nor run." Rivock commented with a smile as his lips looked to be touching his ears.
Growl!
The beasts all let out in unison and didn't waste a moment before speeding towards Rivock with all the strength they had.
But to him, they were being so slow, though they still managed to reach him in a few seconds. They swung their fists, aiming for a punch.
The human just casually placed his sword around his neck and leaped into the air, avoiding the punches that hit the air with a loud bang because of how much power they had put into the strike.
Rivock landed on the outstretched hands without any care in the world and then crouched down to stare at the beasts with a small devilish smirk on his face.
"If I'm unable to deal with pests like you, how would I ever become the leader of a great faction like this in the future?" Rivock snarled, his voice filled with venom.
From the corner of his eyes, he noticed movement. The beasts whose arms he had landed on were already swinging their other claws, aiming straight for his neck with deadly precision.
He casually leaped off their arms, his body twisting in the air as if gravity itself bowed to him. The moment he was airborne, Rivock clicked his tongue with a cocky smirk spreading across his lips.
The beasts froze, their instincts screaming danger. They felt something crawling across their arms. Glancing down, their eyes widened in horror. Tiny pellets of Ki clung stubbornly to their skin, glowing faintly like burning embers.
The instant Rivock clicked his tongue, the pellets detonated. A violent shockwave ripped through the air as the beasts' arms were blown apart, chunks of flesh and bone scattering across the battlefield. Screams tore from their throats, but Rivock only stood tall, his expression unwavering.
This was Rivock's family technique.
The Aetherian Faction had three major clans governing them, but beneath the surface, only one clan made the final decisions—the Waterfall Clan. This was the clan of Mada and Gunther, the very clan led by their father. The true rulers of the faction.
Rivock, however, did not belong to the Waterfall Clan. He hailed from another of the three great clans. His clan's signature Ki technique was the Explosive Flow, known simply as the explosion technique.
It was a brutal art, one that demanded an iron will, monstrous stamina, and years of training to master. Out of the four sons his father had sired, only three managed to awaken its secrets.
Rivock, though the youngest, had inherited the family's fiery pride and learned to wield it. Alongside him, other higher-ranked warriors in his clan—elders, the vice clan leader, and even his older brothers had all perfected its destructive force.
The technique scaled with strength. The higher one's warrior stage, the greater the devastation it could cause.
In the hands of Rivock's father, a single release of this technique could erase two towns from existence. That was the terror Rivock had inherited, a bloodline skill that carved fear into the hearts of enemies.
And now, he had just demonstrated a glimpse of it. With a single burst, he had left a dozen Lycans armless.
Yet even in their maimed state, the remaining beasts crouched low, muscles tightening, and then forcefully leaped into the air in a frenzy.
"Sorry little ones, you aren't my type." Rivock's tone was playful, but his eyes were cold. He swung his sword casually, as if brushing dust off his shoulder. A wave of visible Ki surged from the blade, crashing into the airborne beasts. The explosion of force shredded their bodies and sent chunks raining down.
Out of the original fifty beasts, only twenty-four remained.
These were the armless survivors, howling and snarling in bloodlust. Despite their lost limbs, they charged forward recklessly. Rivock didn't even flinch. In a blur, he bolted away, his figure flickering from one spot to another like a phantom. His speed left afterimages in the beasts' eyes, confusing them.
Five seconds later, he reappeared three metres away, whistling as if mocking their efforts. The beasts turned at once, fury burning in their eyes as they prepared to dash again. But Rivock only smirked and clicked his tongue.
The ground beneath their feet suddenly lit up with runic brilliance. A heartbeat later…
BOOM!
A thunderous explosion erupted, shaking the battlefield. The beasts were torn apart instantly, their bodies exploding into unrecognizable chunks that rained down like a macabre storm. The force of the blast even kicked up dust clouds that rolled outward in waves.
Rivock grinned widely, almost maniacally, the thrill of destruction surging through his veins. He swung his sword into the air, and with a sharp shimmer, the blade fractured into particles before dissipating into the wind.
"Oh shit! That was too much." He mumbled, his grin fading as his vision blurred. His body swayed dangerously, exhaustion crashing into him like a tidal wave. For a moment, he was about to collapse face-first into the ground, but he quickly clenched his jaw, forcing himself to endure.
With sheer will, he slammed his knees into the ground instead, catching himself and retaining consciousness. Sweat poured down his face, his breathing heavy, but his eyes still gleamed with defiance.
