Chapter 123 Sylve Vs Iron Fang

"Holy Burst!!"

A wave of golden energy exploded outwards, striking the snake across the face. It shrieked, for a moment blinded by the light.

But Sylve knew this wasn't enough. She didn't have the conventional fire magic, but a light spell was the best alternative for the fire magic, the real problem lay in finding a way to make the snake's mouth open wide without getting killed by its acidic venom.

The ironfang roared and struggled harder, the stone cracking beneath its strength. Sylve tightened her grip on her staff, pouring more mana into the spell, thinking of how to get her spell to the mouth of the snake.

'Ohh.'

A smile formed on Sylve's face as she raised her staff up, and in front of her, the ground shattered, the debris floating up in front of her.

Now, the snake was out of his temporary blindness state and could clearly see Sylve; he struggled, trashing his head and tail until the stone bind started to crack.

Sylve grinned as the idea clicked into place. Her staff high, she focused on the magic within her. She would have to use her earth magic to create an opening, divert the snake for long enough to let her light magic do the rest. Enjoy exclusive content from My Virtual Library Empire

"Stone Missile!" her voice rang out, firm.

She flicked her wrist, sending them at the snake. The projectiles flew across, striking its head and body with perfect accuracy, which caused it to rear back and hiss in pain.

The ironfang lashed around, fangs snapping as it tried to shake off rocks. Still angry, still fighting, but Sylve could tell it was weakening.

The stone bind she'd cast earlier was still cracking, but every blow from the stone missiles was buying her time.

The snake's head whipped toward her, its eyes blazing in a fury, but Sylve was set.

"Vine Bind!" she commanded.

Thick vines sprang from the ground, wrapping themselves around the neck of the ironfang, constricting around its movements.

The snake hissed violently and snapped furiously at the vines, but they would not yield, the more the snake destroyed the vines the more it came.

Sylve ground her teeth, tightened her hold on her staff, and started channeling even more mana into the spell.

The vines grew thicker and heavier, stronger in their clutches, and the snake momentarily stopped thrashing.

For a fleeting instant, she had the advantage.

The snake's mouth snapped open, fangs showing in a deadly hiss, but Sylve didn't waste time.

She knew not to get too close as the snake was ready to spit. She focused all of her light magic into one final attack instead.

Immediately, her staff started to glow brighter, shimmering with radiant power.

"Holy Flame!" Sylve shouted, thrusting her staff forward.

A wave of golden energy burst out of her staff, heaving itself outwards. It hit the ironfang straight in the open mouth, filling the creature's maw with searing light.

The snake recoiled, snapping its jaws shut as a terrible shriek escaped it.

Sylve's heart pulsed faster as she saw the light explode inside the creature's mouth, incinerating its insides.

Her spell was also the same as a flame spell but it was just light, really hot light.

The snake whipped around once more, its body jerking in all directions with the strength that overpowered it.

But Sylve wasn't done yet. She knew the snake would trash around and destroy her traps, and if it did she would be the target.

Immediately she lifted her staff high and shouted, "Stone Fist!"

The spell consumed Mana a lot and it was slow but in cases like this it was highly effective.

The earth beneath her started to shake as titanic columns of stone burst forth from the ground forming two large fists.

They drove towards the head of the ironfang with bone-shattering force, and once the firsts were directly on top of the snake, both of them dropped.

The drop was so heavy a loud sounds reverberate in the entire room and but even with that the snake still didn't let out as it insides were burning.

Sylve breathing was fast and shallow. She was tired, the continuous drain of mana was weakening her, yet she was not going to let this snake get away now.

She took a step forward with her staff raised; her body shook with the effort but she didn't stop.

"Stone Bind!" she shouted.

The earth split open again under the ironfang's tail and neck this time, fastening its entire body in place. Sylve poured all of her remaining mana into the spell, fortifying the stone now holding the snake tightly in place.

The ironfang stopped thrashing; sluggish, its energy sapping fast. It hissed a last time, mouth partly open as if to attack, but Sylve didn't give it the chance. She saw the final opening-its mouth was barely ajar, and she had just enough time.

With a last, desperate surge of power, Sylve summoned her light magic once more.

"Radiant Lance!" she yelled, her staff pointing directly into the snake's mouth.

A spear of light lanced forward, impaling the creature's open maw. The snake head jerked backward, writhing as the light filled every inch of the creature's insides, and it started to convulse.

The ironfang's body went rigid. For a moment, everything was still and finally the snake's body slumped.

Its once-glowing eyes now dim and lifeless. Sylve stood there, her heavy pants the only sound, her staff lowered, her eyes fixed upon the last residues of energy leaving the creature's body.

It was over.

Sylve made a weak step forward, worn out by complete exhaustion. She wasn't tired because she ran out of stamina but because of the amount of Mana she used, she could give no more in that fight, and it was obvious now: the ironfang was dead.

A wave of relief swept over her as she looked down at the lifeless form of the creature.

She wiped the sweat off her brow, her heart pounding hard in her chest.
