Chapter 8: LUNA'S POV- BEYOND THE SURFACE
Luna sat on the couch, staring blankly at the wall. She couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had been building up inside her.
Scott sat down beside her, his presence a comforting silence.
After a while, Luna turned to him, breaking the silence. "Hey Scott, can we talk?"
Scott looked at her with concern. "Of course, Luna. What's going on?"
Luna hesitated, unsure of how to start. "I wanted to talk to you about Luther and Betty. I've been noticing some weird stuff going on between them."
Scott's expression turned thoughtful. "What kind of weird stuff?"
Luna took a deep breath, launching into her story. "So, Betty and I were sitting at a table talking, and then Luther came over to call me to the administrator's office. And Betty just got really angry out of nowhere."
"I didn't understand why she was so upset, but when I came back from the administrator's office, I explained to her what happened, and she calmed down."
"But what really got me was that after she calmed down, she started smiling and acting all weird. And I could tell she was hiding something."
Scott nodded thoughtfully, his eyes narrowed in concentration. "I think I see what's going on here. You're worried about Betty, and you're trying to figure out what's going on with her."
Luna nodded, feeling a sense of relief that Scott understood. "Yeah, exactly. I just feel like there's something more to it, something she's not telling me."
Scott leaned forward, his expression serious. "Luna, you can't control how other people feel or what they do. All you can do is be there for them, and support them when they need it."
"I know it's hard to see your friend struggling, but sometimes you just have to let things play out. You can't force someone to talk about something they're not ready to discuss."
Luna nodded, feeling a sense of understanding wash over her. "You're right, Scott. I just need to be patient and supportive."
Scott smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "That's exactly right, Luna. And I'm proud of you for being such a good friend."
As they sat there in comfortable silence, Luna felt grateful for Scott's wisdom and support. She knew she could always count on him to help her navigate life's challenges.
After a while, Scott spoke up again. "Hey Luna, why don't we go grab some dinner? I'm starving."
Luna smiled, feeling a sense of relief that the conversation was over. "Okay, sure. Let's go.
As they sat down at the dinner table, Luna couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over her. She was grateful for Scott's listening ear and wise advice.
The two of them chatted and laughed as they ate, enjoying each other's company. But as the evening wore on, Luna started to feel a pang of guilt.
She realized that she was always the one coming to Scott with her problems, always seeking his advice and guidance. She never really asked him about his own life, his own struggles.
"Luna, can I ask you something?" Scott said, breaking into her thoughts.
"Of course, Scott. What is it?" Luna replied, curious.
Scott smiled. "No, I was just kidding. I don't have anything to ask. But actually, Luna, I think you should ask me something."
Luna raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Scott leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I mean, you're always coming to me with your problems, asking for my advice. But you never really ask me about my own life."
Luna felt a surge of surprise. She hadn't realized that Scott had noticed her one-sidedness.
"Is there something wrong, Scott?" Luna asked, feeling a sense of concern.
Scott shook his head. "No, nothing's wrong. I just want to make sure that you know I'm here for you, but I also want to make sure that you're interested in my life too."
Luna smiled, feeling a sense of appreciation for Scott's honesty. "Of course, Scott. I'm sorry if I've been neglecting you."
Scott waved his hand dismissively. "You haven't been neglecting me, Luna. I just want to make sure that we have a balanced relationship."
Luna nodded, feeling a sense of understanding. "I get it, Scott. And I promise to do better."
Scott smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I know you will, Luna. Now, let's finish dinner and then we can talk more about... well, about me."
Luna laughed, feeling a sense of excitement. She was eager to learn more about Scott's life, to hear about his struggles and triumphs.
As they finished dinner and continued talking, Luna felt a sense of gratitude towards Scott. She was grateful for his honesty, his willingness to open up to her.
And as the evening drew to a close, Luna knew that their relationship had reached a new level of depth and understanding.
As the evening drew to a close, Scott got up to grab something from the kitchen. Luna and their mom were left alone in the living room.
The mom, noticing an opportunity to talk to Luna, turned to her and said, "Luna, can we talk for a minute?"
Luna nodded, curious about what her mom wanted to discuss. "Sure, Mom. What's up?"
The mom gestured for Luna to follow her, and they walked into a quiet room off the living room. The mom closed the door behind them and turned to Luna with a thoughtful expression.
"Luna, I've noticed that Scott has been really supportive of you lately," the mom said, her eyes filled with warmth. "He's always there to listen to you, to offer advice and guidance."
Luna nodded, feeling grateful for Scott's presence in her life. "Yeah, Mom. Scott has been amazing. I don't know what I'd do without him."
The mom smiled, her expression softening. "I'm glad to see that, Luna. But what I want to talk to you about is how Scott has been acting when you're not around."
Luna's curiosity was piqued. "What do you mean, Mom?"
The mom hesitated, choosing her words carefully. "Well, Luna, when you left for school, Scott was really quiet. He'd just sit in his room, staring at the wall. He didn't want to talk to anyone, not even me."
Luna's eyes widened in surprise. She had no idea that Scott had been struggling so much.
The mom continued, her voice filled with concern. "I think Scott really misses you, Luna. He doesn't want you to go, and when you're not around, he feels lost."
Luna felt a pang of guilt. She had no idea that Scott was struggling so much without her.
The mom placed a gentle hand on Luna's shoulder. "Luna, I want you to know that Scott loves you very much. He's always been protective of you, but now it's like he can't bear to be apart from you."
Luna nodded, feeling a sense of understanding wash over her. She knew that Scott cared about her deeply, but she had no idea that he felt this way.
As they talked, Luna realized that she needed to be more considerate of Scott's feelings. She needed to make more of an effort to stay in touch, to let him know that she was thinking of him.
The mom smiled, her eyes shining with warmth. "I'm glad we had this talk, Luna. I think it's time for you to go back to Scott. He's probably wondering where you are."
Luna nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her mom. She knew that she had a lot to think about, a lot to process.
As she walked back to the living room, Luna felt a sense of determination. She was going to make more of an effort to stay in touch with Scott, to let him know that she cared.
