Chapter 112: Waking Up

Jessica blinked slowly, still caught in the haze of sleep. Her mind was groggy, the line between dream and reality not yet fully clear.

She squinted at the figure sitting casually on the chair near her bed.

"Good morning," the voice repeated, calm and unmistakably male.

"Did… Did I just hear a guy?" she thought.

She tilted her head slightly, her eyebrows drawing together in confusion. Since no man had ever entered her room before.

Her eyes narrowed further, squinting as if trying to blur the illusion away. But no, he was still there.

The silhouette remained exactly where it was. Still confused, she rubbed her eyes with both fists, slowly and gently, like wiping sleep from a foggy window.

When she opened them again, she found him still there. Not only that, but now she could clearly see his face.

It's a handsome young man with a striking face that had is greatly etched in both her mind and heart.

"Isn't this Jeff? What is he doing in my room? Am I still dreaming, or is this just the effect of my sleep and I need to wait a bit for the illusion to fade?" Jessica uttered inwardly.

Jeff, sitting just a few steps away, watched her confused expression with a hint of amusement.

His back was slightly leaned against the chair, with one leg resting over the other as he calmly looked at her.

He could not help but observed her from his seat. She looked so disoriented and half-lost in the folds of sleep, but to him, it only made her feel more real.

Her hair, once straight and flowing like a waterfall, was now a little messy with some soft twirls and strands curling loosely over her shoulder, one even stubbornly resting across her cheek.

The light lavender dress she wore had wrinkled slightly from sleep, and one of the sheer sleeves had slipped just a bit off her shoulder, though not indecently.

The quilt hugged her waist, leaving her upper half exposed as her posture relaxed.

She no longer looked like a still angel in slumber, but more like a spring morning that is both soft and warm.

It's like waking up in a sunlit meadow where the breeze was gentle and nothing in the world needed fixing.

Jessica's heart skipped a beat as she caught the way he was looking at her. That was when she started to feel that something was really off.

As she wandered her gaze one last time, she realized this was not her room, not her bed, and definitely not her pillow or quilt.

She took a sniff of the quilt and caught the scent of a man with a blend of something floral that is subtly alluring.

It was her scent mixed with Jeff's. In that instant, her eyes shot wide open as full realization crashed into her like a wave. Her entire face ignited in red.

A deep blooming crimson spread from her cheeks to her ears, like wildfire racing through dry grass.

She gasped silently, her mouth slightly agape as her breath caught in her throat as countless thoughts rushed through her mind.

"Why is he here? No, the real question is what am I doing here?" she thought, making her mind scrambling.

Then a memory from last night surfaced as she had passed out. Her eyes widened in shock after realizing something.

"Don't tell after I passed out, he brought me here to do something bad?" Jessica whispered inwardly, panic rising in her chest.

Even though she had a big crush on him, both her mind and body were not yet ready for anything like that.

So before reacting, she took a moment to feel herself, checking for any sign of discomfort.

"I've heard that your first time usually hurts, but I feel no pain and nothing seems wrong. Clearly my thing is still intact," Jessica thought, letting out a silent sigh of relief.

Thankfully, her trust in Jeff was strong. If this had been a different man, she would have screamed and accused him without hesitation.

Understanding what kind of person Jeff was helped her stay calm and keep her thoughts in check.

But as she felt the intensity of his gaze grow, her eyes shifted toward the cabinet. In the mirror, she saw herself, and she looked completely different from usual.

Without saying a word, her hand darted to the side, grabbing the edge of the quilt with lightning speed.

In one sweeping motion, she yanked it over her entire body like a ghost trying to hide from the world.

"AHHH! Don't look, don't look," her muffled scream echoed from under the covers as she vanished beneath the blanket, hiding everything but the top of her head.

Hearing her sudden outburst, Jeff snapped out of his thoughts and quickly turned around.

Her small frame was now a lump in the middle of the bed, trembling slightly under the quilt, while faint sizzling heat seemed to radiate from where her face had been moments ago.

Under the safety of the quilt, Jessica curled up tighter, pressing her face into the warmth of the blanket as her mind went into full meltdown.

"Oh no, did he just saw me in this kind of state?" as her heart thudded loudly in her chest.

The more she thought about it, the more unbearable it became. Her hair was tangled and messy, probably sticking out in odd angles like some kind of mop.

Her cheeks were still puffy from sleep, and she was almost certain there was dried drool somewhere near her chin.

Even her dress the very one she liked so much was probably wrinkled and crumpled like a used tissue.

"Why now of all times?!" she screamed inwardly, burying her face deeper under the quilt.

"Why couldn't I wake up five minutes earlier? Why couldn't I fix my hair first? At least wipe my mouth or check my face or anything!"

She could feel the heat radiating from her skin, as if embarrassment alone had raised her body temperature by ten degrees.

She squeezed the blanket tighter, her fingers gripping the fabric like it was the last piece of dignity she had left.

"Did I look awful? Did he think I was gross? He must have seen the drool, oh my God, the drool!"

Even though Jeff had already turned away to give her privacy, Jessica was drowning in the anxiety of being seen in what she believed was her ugliest moment.

She wasn't ugly, and she was far from it. Her looks were the one thing she always felt confident about.

But in that fragile mental state, all she could think about was how completely unprepared she had been.

Then a sudden realization struck her on why was she in his room instead of her own?

Her expression shifted to something serious, and she slowly popped her head out from under the quilt.

Sitting up, with the blanket still covering her from the neck down, she stared at Jeff's back.

"Don't turn around. Now listen, and I'm going to ask you something," she said in a cold, steady tone.

The chill in her voice sent a strange sensation crawling up Jeff's spine, like ants marching along his back.

But remembering that he had done nothing wrong, Jeff calmed himself and simply nodded in response.

"What am I doing in your room?"

"Last night, when Aunt Rose kept bombarding you with questions, you passed out. She told me to carry you back..." he replied calmly.

He explained everything like what happened and why she ended up in his room.

As she listened, she let out a soft sigh, realizing it made sense. After all her room was always lock and the key to her room was hidden under the carpet just outside her door.

"Then I want to thank you for that," she said with a small pout.

"You're welcome, I guess," Jeff replied casually.

"Hold up, we're not done yet. When I fell asleep... did you do something?" she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.

Since she wasn't fully aware of what had happened after she passed out.

Jeff froze for a moment as his hand instinctively reached up, scratching his cheek awkwardly as his eyes drifted to the side.

The image from last night flickered in his mind.

Seeing his reactions, Jessica was horrified that he really did something to her last night. This made her react feeling ashamed of herself.

"You… you… you…!" she gasped, pointing at him with trembling fingers, her face blooming into a bright, radiant red.

"W-what exactly did you do while I was asleep?!" she demanded, her voice rising.

"N-no! It's not what you're thinking!" Jeff blurted out, waving his hands frantically, since he was misunderstood again.

"I didn't do anything weird! I swear! I didn't touch you or mess with you or anything like that!" Jeff explained, his voice nearly cracking under pressure.

Jessica narrowed her eyes, clearly unconvinced, as she hugged the blanket tighter around herself.

"Then why were you scratching your cheek like that?! That's a guilty move right there! What did you do?" she snapped, leaning forward with suspicion flaring in her eyes.

"Absolutely nothing. I just saw… I saw… the color," Jeff blurted out, and the moment the words left his mouth, he instantly regretted it.

"The color?" Jessica blinked confused by it.

But Jeff said nothing more. He wanted to smack himself for even saying that much.

Then, slowly, something clicked in her mind. Realization bloomed across her face.

Her eyes widened, and she let out a sharp shriek, instinctively letting go of the quilt and revealing herself unfixed self.

"WHAT?!"

Jeff quickly raised his hands in surrender, making sure not to turn around.

"It wasn't on purpose! You moved a lot in your sleep! Your dress got ruffled, and I was just standing there and looked over and then I saw it and after that I covered you with the blanket right away! I didn't stare longer than a second! Well maybe two!" he rushed out in a panic, his words tripping over themselves.

"But still, on the bright side, I didn't touch anything," Jeff added like a good citezen.

"For you it's bright, but for me it's not,"

She was steaming like a teapot about to blow. But as his explanation settled in her mind, she began to process it more clearly.

He had seen something he wasn't supposed to, but he hadn't done anything beyond that.

"So you didn't touch me?" she asked, her tone quieter now.

"Not even a finger," Jeff replied firmly.

"And you didn't do anything while I was asleep?" she asked again, just to be sure.

"Nothing. I just slept on the floor last night," he answered.

A long pause followed before a quiet sigh of relief escaped from Jessica.

"Thank goodness, nothing happened. But still, he saw the color of my panty. That's so embarrassing," she groaned inwardly.

But deep down, she knew it was her fault for moving in her sleep, so she decided to let it go.

"Hmm, maybe I should consider it a reward for carrying me to this nice bed," she thought to herself with a slight pout.

"Alright then, don't turn around. Only after I leave can you be allowed to look," she said firmly as she got up, walked to the door, and quietly opened and closed it behind her.

As the door shut, Jeff finally turned around. At last, he was alone just as he wanted the most.
