Lost in The Witcher

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

After an hour of walking, Caspar let out a sigh.

"Sigh... It's so boring just walking alone," he muttered under his breath and looked around for some distraction. When he didn't find anything, he began wondering about his future.

'I wonder in what world I am... everything looks like a normal forest on Earth. The air is fresher, but it could be some countryside in the middle of nowhere, so the air isn't polluted here...'

When he thought about Earth, Caspar couldn't help but start thinking about his family.

'I wonder if Mom will miss me... I moved out two years ago already, and we didn't have the best contact with each other. So hopefully, she will get over my disappearance quickly.'

He frowned and took a big breath.

"No sense thinking about it right now. If this isn't Earth, I will become powerful enough in the future to travel across the worlds and see her again," Caspar said quietly and started walking a little quicker.

After a while, the sky started darkening, and Caspar's heart began beating a little faster.

'Should I keep walking and risk going in the dark or find a place to sleep...'

He thought for a bit and came to a conclusion.

'Let's not tempt fate and rest for the night.'

Caspar started walking slower and paying more attention to find a spot he could rest in for the night.

'This should be good,' he thought while looking at a big oak. It was at least two times bigger than the other trees nearby and had a small valley around it.

When he came close to the oak, the sun was already disappearing behind the horizon.

'Perfect time for some more practice.'

Caspar couldn't help but feel excited about trying to cast magic and sat down with his back to the tree.

'If I couldn't create a fireball, maybe I should start with something smaller,' he thought and imagined a small fire, no bigger than a candle flame, above his finger. While manipulating his magicka to do his bidding, a small fire appeared just when it got to the tip of his finger. He couldn't help but gasp.

"I casted magic..." he whispered in wonder and picked a small leaf from the ground to test if the fire created from magicka worked like a normal fire. He put the leaf near his finger, and the small fire burned it the second it got in contact with it.

Caspar grinned and stopped feeding magicka into the flame, making it die. He cast the spell a couple more times, and when he was confident he could control it perfectly, he started upping the amount of magicka he gave it, making the fire get bigger and hotter until his skin started to tingle from its proximity.

Caspar smiled and put the fire out.

'Let's practice more later and rest for now,' he thought after looking at the black sky full of blinking stars.

'I don't recognize any of them,' Caspar thought grimly while trying to remember any of the star clusters and match them with the ones he could see above.

'So I'm 100% not on Earth right now.'

He got lost in his thoughts with the confirmation that he was in some new, unfamiliar world.

Swoosh.

'What is that?' Caspar thought, quickly putting his guard up and looking in the direction of the sound.

Swoooosh.

'It's getting louder,' he thought grimly while looking around for some cover. 'There is nowhere to hide,' he thought and quickly looked at the tree behind him. 'I can only climb the oak.' He didn't think any further and immediately started climbing.

'Luckily, the tree has so many branches I can use as leverage.'

It took Caspar less than 30 seconds to climb to a safe height, so he sat on a thick branch and hid in the leaves so he wouldn't be easily spotted if someone looked up. The noises got louder every second, and suddenly a deer jumped out of the bushes, making Caspar sigh.

'It's only a deer,' he thought, relieved. But immediately after, a big wolf leapt at the deer and bit it straight in the neck. A horrible sound came from the deer's mouth as it started thrashing around, but it lasted only a couple of seconds before it stopped moving entirely.

'What the fuck,' Caspar thought, scared to the bone while watching the scene happening below him. 'This wolf is a fucking monstrosity.'

The wolf moved calmly away from the deer after finishing it off, its black fur blending with the shadows. Its yellow eyes watched everything with focus, fresh blood staining its mouth as it stared into the darkness from which four more wolves emerged. They were smaller than the first one but still full of muscle.

Caspar held his breath and tried his very best not to even move while he observed the wolves.

'Thank God I didn't try to stay down there. Even with my new fire spell, I don't think I could kill all five of them. Maybe I could scare them off, but I don't think they would give up an easy meal,' he thought and quietly observed as the wolves started ripping the deer apart to start eating.

Caspar was distracted watching the wolves when suddenly he heard a familiar voice inside his head.

400 CP - Divine Artifact - Genshin Impact - Making - The gods of this world might not have relied on artifacts but that does not mean they did not have them. Whether it be from your own godly making or from finding it in one of the hidden resting places of a fallen god, you have acquired your own artifact. The Goddess of Salt had a chalice of never ending salt and a ruler that could summon forth a tide of salt from the ground. The God of Anemo had a lyre filled with great amounts of Anemo power. You have something of this ilk. By itself it wouldn't change the world, yet it is still the artifact of a god and as such has power beyond most mortal ken.

Current CP - 100

You don't have enough CP for this purchase. Would you like to lock it for later?

Caspar got spooked a little but calmed down when he realized what it was.

'Why now?' he complained in his thoughts, but focused on the voice soon enough.

'Hmm, a godly weapon of my own... can't say I'm not tempted, but how do I even gain CP? I have 100 already, so did I do something to gain them? Is this worth locking in...?'

He contemplated while watching the wolves and couldn't come to a definitive answer.

'Let's wait for now. I don't have to decide right this instant,' he thought and spent the rest of the night trying to sleep, with no luck.
